HHN XXI Speculation

I took it as a hint as well. But I know we tend to overthink this stuff sometimes (waiting for speculation on hidden images in main images that aren't there anyone?) so who knows.

I'm just hoping it's a lucky day for an update, whether it's gambling related or not.

yeah the HHN facebook page keeps refering to luck which, as you guys just mentioned, could take us right back to the gambling/casino/vegas/21st idea.

Now this is just an idea-just running with the whole "luckl aspect (and pardon me if somebody has said this before) but what if we had an icon that was the personification of Lady Luck? Only she could provide her patrons with just the opposite; they come to her looking for good fortune and she brings on death and destruction.

A mad Dealer?????....i can see it now a close up on a roulette weel spinning and when it stops we see a bloddy eye ball.......and a black jack scenario imagine a run down casino and theres just one tabel lit up with lights and we see a guy strapped to a seat and a mysterious dealer and we get a close up of the cards theyre drenched in blood buy you can read the value an even 20 then the dealer asks hit or stay but the guy thats strapped down has his lips sewn shut and hes trying to scream stay but the dealer says laughing evily "hit???? are you sure...lets play!!" then we hear a bang and the whole universal hhn 2011 things are said then before it ends it goes back to the dealer asking" do you feel luck" and we get another evil laugh..the end

For the people who don't think a silent antagonist will work for Horror Nights, need I remind you of THESE minions?

The-Body-Collectors66675.jpg

If I'm not mistaken, these guys are completely silent, yet they manage to scare the absolute sh!tes out of people regardless.

Anyway, the way you guys are talking about a Librarian icon, it sounds more like a silent Mary Shaw than anything. Think about it, the only way Ms. Shaw can kill someone is if the victim screams. Therefore, silence is golden (and duct tape is silver) when dealing with a threat that is attracted to sound. I find a silent monster infinitely more scary than one who won't shut their yap, which is why I prefer Jason and Michael over Freddy and Chucky (although Freddy has the added ability to kill people in their dreams).

Oh, and about that scarezone dedicated to bears...

polar_bear_and_chainsaw.jpg

.....yeah, I'm down.

Um...yeah...besides the expletive (personal preference) that picture is UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME!

I'm sort of back to the idea that the next icon is going to be something in line with "Fate". Perhaps if there is an icon maybe it is going to be an old gangster character from the golden ages of vegas. Coming back to collect money owed. Or maybe they will just go icon less and go with a general theme for all the houses and zones. I'd find that pretty damn interesting to see them take a word like Fate, and create multiple, different haunted houses that use Fate as a guide line. You could have a gambling/vegas style haunt or zone, Zombie theme where you need to find your way out of an infested area, I've seen haunts that use the "Nerve Gas" idea very well, also it could be fun to see them attempt to do a more traditional haunted house again. Perhaps maybe a haunted inn or hotel and loosely base it off of Room 1408. All those ghosts met their Fate, will you be next?

They already used a similar idea when Jack dealt cards of fate (Freddy, Jason and Leatherface) to a patron at his Carnival of Carnage.

Keosilver, as cool of an idea as Fate is, I can't see us not having an icon in the foreseeable future. The public has become too dependant on the idea of having a "face" for the event. And while many of them have no idea WHO that icon is or what their backstory is, it's a recognizable part of the event that people can come to know and, ultimately, fear.

And on a more personal note, I'd be so disappointed if we didn't get an icon. :/ It adds a more personal touch to the event for me. I like having a face to tack on to the ensuing nightmares.

I know but the dealer hes dealing cards not fortunes they could make it a bit more like a run down casino and that one dealer who just dosent want to leave

I see an abandoned casino on the outskirts of Vegas, like the Sierra Madre in Fallout New Vegas, or a casino on an old steam boat ship thats been left to rot in the swamp anyone whos played red dead redemption should be familiar with the wreck of the serendipity

So we're getting some sort of a gambling/casino theme. I'm excited about it, the only negative feelings I really have are the lack of surprise. I really think this year has a lot of potential, I'm interested in what kind of icon, if any, we're going to have with this.

Also, the HHN Facebook page just posted this:

You are captivated by an intense desire to tempt fate. Your heart races. Your nails dig into your thigh. The taste of blood is on your tongue as you bite down on your lip. Your eyes shift wildly as you contemplate the risk. Desire seduces you…and you forget that the House always wins.

Well the music and cards sound and look vintage so think 1930 maybe 1940s dealer look...http://68.171.209.174/development/images/thumbnails/CL-141611-300738%5B0%5D.jpg....minus that table that hangs around the neck..

Yeah... the music is making me think 20's-30's Flapper/Prohibition Era. And that Japanese Proverb posted on Facebook makes "Death" a remaining contender in some capacity...

How better to mix death into the equation then with gambling...the ultimate gamble that determines if you live or die

Hell yeah, casino theme.

What the hell's wrong with a casino theme for this year? There's a very strong running theme through Halloween stories of Faustian bargains that the antagonists (and sometimes protagonists) take part in. This running theme can be played with a lot of ways and make for a lot of houses. And casinos represent the most basic version of the Faustian bargain, soooo...

Wasn't there mention of a "rune room" at some point?

I do like the feel of the website so far, with it being more "vintage" than set in present day.

Screamster, I think you're right on that. It's a good play on words too, with house for the gambling theme and of course, the house(s).
