If you have some really dark shades, I would wear them until you are actually inside of the house and away from the sunlight.

This has helped me in the past as we usually go to the AP early access houses (tents and parade building) and made the mistake of not wearing eye protection outside one time last year. Needless to say, it was a "gropefest" trying to make my way through Catacombs, and I'm pretty sure I looked like a zombie (arms outstretched) while walking through most of the house.

If you want to be really fancy, you can go with the tried and true "eyepatch" route (which may actually somewhat fit in with the Forsaken house). Basically, pirates and sailors (like those on the ill-fated 4th ship) would wear an eyepatch over one eye while on deck and then switch it to the other eye when they went below deck. This would essentially allow them to see in the darkened quarters below deck because the eye that was under the eyepatch was already accustomed to the darkness.

Someone on these boards gave me this tip last year (maybe it was you). and the dark shades really do help, especially in the soundstages which are usually the first ones they open for Stay & Scream. So now I always do this! I'll never forget stumbling through Body Collectors in 2008 and being so frustrated that I couldn't see anything.

So there was supposedly a hint in Catacombs about this year's event, about how Mankind has always been intrigued by Death. Does anyone have any ideas on how that translates to this year?

I'd been wondering the same thing. Do we know that what was in Catacombs was the official hint? Or was that just speculation on the boards?

I might try the eyepatch, lol i wish i could put two eyepaches one in each eye

The Masque of Red Death has been confirmed for Nevermore. From faceboook:

You’ll step inside works of insanity like “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Pit and the Pendulum,” “The Masque of the Red Death” and “The Raven,” and suddenly you’ll realize…you’re going as mad as he was.

So is it safe to say we will have 2 rooms for each story and an intro and finale? The average house is what 10 rooms?

Didnt read thru to see if anyone mentioned anything about it but , i really hope they have a better front entrance this year ! not that it really matters because its not really a necessity to make a big deal out of it but i think its cool when they decorate it like the did with Carnival of Carnage etc. last year was just a video screen which was kind of lame but whatever :P

I would say that sounds appropriate. Houses average at least 10 rooms/vinettes each and if they are focusing on four different Poe stories, I would think they would want to dedicate at least two rooms to each, if not more. So with an intro room and finale, I would say you've hit the nail on the head with that guesstimate. It would be great to see this house run maybe a little longer considering the great tales they have to work with! :)

Actually, them mentioning Masque gives us four confirmed stories plus the three other potential ones on the graphic (The Black Cat, Annabel Lee which the poem in the newest picture, and the Fall of the House of Usher). That's seven, plus highly probable Cask room would be eight. One room a story, one intro room featuring Poe, one finale featuring anything, ten rooms.

Do some of the scarezones look smaller on the map? The construction photos for Acid assault, 7 , and Nightmaze look longer but when you look at the map it seems like they were shortened?

I would be so mad if they are that short. Seems like they get smaller every year. and why must they clump them in the same areas every year ? Now there's even a bigger dead zone in the back of the park this year -___-
