Food is excellent but going to forgo the tour this year to meet up with family. To all scareactors....break a leg, scare well, and be safe! Insidious is already up to 120 minutes and it's only 630pm! Hanniel Posted September 17, 2017 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I did the RIP tour on Friday so I thought I'd give my feedback from my experience. The entry for RIP is nice and allowed us to enter a VIP lounge on a second floor near the park entrance that had water and a charging station for smart phones. Soon after I was escorted with other RIP guests with the same tour time to a restaurant called Jardin de Paris in a Parisian looking area. The buffet was pretty good and the selection of drinks was excellent. I will upload pictures and videos in the other HHN Hollywood thread for it. The time given for the buffet was about 1 hour, after which our guide escorted us to every maze. We didn't do Jabbawockeez (thank goodness) and he left the Terror Tram for last, at which time he said goodbye to us as we got onto the trams. I have to say that the RIP tour itself was horrible. Quite literally a waste of time. The guide didn't actually tell us anything other than what's been advertised. Too much time is wasted trying to coordinate with the whole group and trying to keep up with him at times was a hassle. You are basically just being babysat for the whole duration. I suppose if you didn't know where anything was and needed a guide to show you where to go, but when I first started going to HHN a couple years ago I don't ever remember having a problem finding my way around. Overall the fact that I had UNLIMITED front of line (as opposed to only once per maze) was awesome. Also, the buffet had great options. I really enjoyed some of the dessert and shrimp options, along with the tritip beef. The whole buffet and tour lasted about 4 1/2 hours. If I had it to do over again, I probably would have planned my "tour" time for when I planned to eat (which for me is ideally later in the evening). Then I would have relaxed and ate for as long as I'd want and just decline the "tour". You can pick up your RIP lanyards at 5:00pm and then go to all the mazes immediately. Even with the tour I was still able to do every maze at least twice, some more, and a few rides multiple times, so I really made use of the unlimited front of line benefit. Honestly I'd do Insidious then Saw then AHS, Ash and then back to shining when it's dark...I've always had problems with the mummy queue during early entry with light ruining nearly the whole maze...except This is the End which...lets be honest was ruined when it was built edit: because it looks like saw and insidious have the longest consistent waits with AHS being a close second. Shining is my top priority but based on opening weekend wait times it's not the most popular maze and can be saved for later. I did Exorcist as my first maze once last year and the light just POURED in each time a scare actor appeared, ruining the entire environment as well as blinding me a lot. DTH316 Posted September 17, 2017 Share Posted September 17, 2017 The line times were wrong pretty much the whole night. Everything was vastly exaggerated. The longest I waited was 36 minutes for Insidious in what was an advertised as a 75 minute wait. The second time, it said a 60 minute wait and was again only about 25 minutes. Shining after 12 AM, I am not exaggerating, was a walk on. NO LINE. They literally closed the back section of the line and were yelling at the people going to the metro sets to please come into the maze. And it was advertised as a 30+ wait. Insidious during Early Entry looked like a legit maybe 2 hour wait, with the line going down the stairs where you start. I'm glad I skipped doing that first and went straight to the Metro sets, where Saw had a legit line for a majority of the night. Ash was dead pretty much always. AHS was in the middle. Titans of Terror and Blumhouse were also fairly empty. Keep in mind this is all the first Saturday on Opening Weekend though, so maybe things will change. But if this is an indicator of how the rest of the season will be, then maybe this just might be a fairly dead season... is nobody interested this year? :-/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Some of the reviews of the mazes are leaving me a little worried. Oh well, I'm sure it'll still be a grand old time. I'm going on a Saturday in October, so I'm sure it'll pick up. Normal people aren't in the Halloween spirit until beginning/middle of October. Been attending Orlando for over 10 years and I went to Hollywood last year for the first time and thought it was incredible with Hollywood's Krampus being my favorite of the year. It left such a strong impression on me I made plans to go again this year and as soon as tickets became available I splurged for FOTL for my weekend there and now all these reviews are making me go crazy and just wish I invested in more time at Orlando instead. My first 9 years of HHN were Orlando, the past 3 (well 4 now) have been Hollywood. This year's event is fun....ish. But it does leave something to be desired. After last year's nearly almost perfect event, it was going to be hard to top. Even Orlando has those ups and downs, but yea this year for Hollywood though is rough. You'll enjoy it and FOTL will come on handy (as well as doing early entry, make sure your butt is there at the archway/entrance gates by 4pm). Well I did find that such a joy last year as it was the first time I ever did HHN coast to coast and since they share some IPs now it is fun to compare. Yes I'll probably still enjoy it but this is the last year I can probably afford both coasts again, actually shouldn't have even done it this year but oh well hahaha, and just wish it was as strong as last year as I'll resume to just Orlando next year (Live outside of DC so going to Orlando usually is inexpensive and just usually makes more sense). Oh well, I guess thankfully I am going to Orlando after Hollywood so I can at least end my 2017 HHN experience on a better note as the houses there (except for Blumhouse) are getting wildly praised. A frequent customer at my store is an Uni employee (she works foods) you can get beer in duff garden BUT it's highly controlled it's a 2 drink maximum per guest and you can't leave duff gardens while drinking anyways back guys just a lot of changes in life finishing school and working 24:7, plus family stuff but won't be bore you with the details but wanted to be back for the season so how's everyone Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
