Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood - Event Discussion

Sorry oatmeal, Saturday is now sold out too.

That makes this ENTIRE WEEKEND SOLD OUT.

Move along people, nothing to see here unless you have tickets.

Dammit. I wanted to have short lines. Looks like I have to sprint now.

Good news is my dad can come so we don't have to slow down to meet him.

Bad new is... we have to slow down cause he's old.

Holy shit. I don't know why I'm surprised the weekend is sold out already, but I am.

Deliciousoatmeal, DTH is right - Thursdays are less likely to be packed to max. capacity and if you don't mind waiting for early access you should be alright the day you go. Do you have your 'game plan' for the night hashed out already?

I knew the minute the gates opened LAST weekend that this year was on a whole new level as far as them having promoted the HELL out of this event. I've never seen sold out weekends happen two-three days prior to that Friday/Saturday. Last night you could just "feel" everyone psyched up and pumped, scaremonies went great, houses were slammed as per usual, longest wait time I saw while walking around was for AVP around 10pm. The one thing that's awesome about being at capacity is when chainsaw chaseout happen, I know most know about it here/twitter/Instagram/etc but for those who don't know, go towards main gate/the main universal store around 130-145am and watch the magic happen. I laugh my rear off every. single. chaseout.

Edit: I thought someone from here was going last night/this weekend so I didn't bother to pop in and post wait times. But I'll do that tonight unless someone is going and wants to? Or do you guys even care about wait times?

I've long since accepted that sexual harassment from guests is a part of the job, but last night was something else entirely. I was in tears at one point while on set, in full view of guests, plus someone hit me in the ribs and the maze host didn't care (not surprising, but still). It was just a bad night.

On a lighter note, while I was going through AvP last night, the guy in front of me told me there was a chainsaw at the end of the maze. I looked at him dead in the eye and said "Spoiler alert." He got mad haha.

Sorry you have to deal with that. Thankfully the saw drowns out most of the idiotic shit people say out there. Be safe.

Also be sure to talk to your supervisors. If you're still on tram, they are super understanding of these sorts of issues.

That's horrible, ugh as part of the guest population I even feel the need to apologize. people think cuz they payed 69.00 that it allows them to be dooshbags. Stay strong Bike Girl! Stay Strong!

So a Terror Ape doll was riding Log Bunny last night on the Terror Tram. I have a picture if anyone wants to see. BTW, which one of you responded to "TwoTonTick" on the Terror Tram and followed us all the way up the hill? You were awesome!

Also, my group won 3 movie tickets, 2 glow sticks, 1 Walking Dead tattoo, and the H.R. Giger artwork card from Scare Patrol's trivia. We needed to know Ash's name from Evil Dead, a quote from Bride of Frankenstein, the fact that Comcast took over Universal, and that Rick Baker's first Oscar was for An American Werewolf in London. Speaking of AWiL, it seems they darkened those scenes. Not sure about AvP though, but it seemed dark.

Guys, Dracula: Untold was the scariest maze of the night, hands down. So many incredible scares for me. Sets, not so great, aggressive scares, fantastic. All of you scare actors were killing it!

Best sets goes to AvP and holy shit, AWiL was great (except for what seemed to be a broken puppet for the second to last wolf and the fact that I had to wait next to puppets for them to pop out, because they all refused to do it right away for me for some reason).

I may write a full review of the event in the coming days, because it really was fantastic last night, but it'll have to wait.

EDIT: I didn't even realize, I surpassed 500 posts!!!! That's a pretty big milestone!

Might as well give my first impressions of the event since my first night is officially done, I'll start off by saying that I happily eat crow for saying that early entry isn't needed, if say it's required to do everything without fotl, I only did 4 houses and terror tram, it could have been 6 if I didn't do TT, please for the love of god do not waste your time on terror tram, it's fucking terrible, I plan on going again but I don't plan on going on this again so I'll give Terror Tram a final grade of F. My house of the night had to go to AWIL, every room with the wolves scared the shit out of me and the nazi werewolf scene was cool as shit. I was suprised how much I enjoyed FDTD, the sets were fantastic and this had some really good scares. AvP was really cool but barely had any scares, my jaw was dropped at a few scenes though, worst house has to go to TWD, this seems a lot shorter than last years house and I got about 1 scare through the whole thing. I won't bother talking about scarezones as I barely spent any time in them. Also, for some reason opening scaremonied started 10 mins early. I also saw Murdy while I was walking through purge, didn't say anything to him cause he was already talking to someone and I needed to get to the backlot.

Mazes ranked best to worst

AWIL

FDTD

AvP

TWD

I plan on going again so I'll try to hit the ones I missed and spend more time in scarezones, once I do that, I guess I'll make a final review

Yesterday and today were both fucked up guest-wise (among other things, but that's a different story).

Just a question, do any of you as guests witnessing wrong shit that people do ever say anything to them? 'Cause you should. If anything, follow them to a security guard and let the security guard know the situation or something.

As a scareactor, it's really hard for me to distinguish people, especially mid-set when I'm completely zoned out and just repeating myself and not focusing on the people. When something happens, the person's already gone and I couldn't point them out if I wanted to. It's actually hard for me to distinguish people when I'm focused right on them, might just be my problem, though. And location.

It is a bit disturbing to hear what you and Kingundisputed have gone through recently. I am hoping that it is just a few nincompoops that exhibit this behavior (but I can see where even a few of these situations could get extremely annoying). From what I have encountered in the past, I usually go to the event prepared to say something to at least one of the guests during the night we attend. After all, it is consider an "adult event", folks have probably had a few drinks prior, and well, people are just idiots to begin with. Since I am at the older end of our demographic (some of you would consider me a Dad Rocker), I find myself getting annoyed rather easily by the things you described and just want to enjoy the event. Typically, I am direct with linecutters that jump the line into the FOL and think they are home free, only to get to the employee scanning the passes. They would try to make a case for being inpatient and I would make a quick comment pointing out their stupidity. Ha Ha, too bad, so sad.

This year we encountered very few annoyances that you described. There was the occasional guest behind us providing inane commentary as they go through the maze. As we were enjoying Dracula, the folks behind us kept commenting that the vampires looked like monkeys and made stupid remarks for every single scare they encountered. There was a couple (guy/gal) that looked like they were in their 20's. Both were pestering Axe Girfriend at the Face Off exit, taunting and trying to put their arms around her, then bothered the Dark Christmas crew by constantly filming them (with the phone light on) as the male kept trying to touch them while making stupid remarks. The scareactors did a good job ignoring them and "shooing" them away but the guests were unrelenting. I approached the dastardly duo and, while I wanted to kick them both in the ballz*, informed them they were not getting the hint to calm down and to move along. The sad thing about this was that a supervisor/employee was there watching it and could have at least redirected the guests.

But outside of that, I saw very few problems and enjoyed the event. I hope it gets better for the scareactors and that you are supported from guests and other employees. You rocked the event last week!

Oh, by the way Kursed, I love your signature. It looks like.............OH THE HORROR! I JUST NOTICED I AM AT 666 POSTS. Wait, what am I to do? Spin around in my chair with Transformer Underoos on my head? Capture flys and feed them to the Ghost of Renfield?

(AsylumSB pulls out a vile of "virtual" Holy Water and throws it at the screen)

Sorry to get a bit off topic, I wanted to get to 667 posts as soon as possible. :alien::lol:

I thought people got kicked out of the park for touching the scareactors? (Not including high-fives or stuff like that, where both parties are fine with it)

Late reply, sorry. Technically, guests can only really be kicked out if they intentionally (and with malice) go after an actor. We get hit unintentionally every night, which we're usually fine with letting slide. When I got hit in the ribs on Friday, it was meant to hurt, which is why the maze host not doing anything about it is especially frustrating.

I've never hit a scaractor at HHN but in the house of horrors in the mummy room, the guy got me, then followed me and got me again, and then got me again halfway through the Chucky room, I wasn't expecting it and my hands flailed and I accidentally slapped him. I felt so bad :( whenever I hear about you guys getting hit it makes me sad that no one does anything about it.

THIS WHERE IS THIS!!!???

Me and my friends normally try to stand up for the Scare Actors and civilized guests alike, I mean nothing is wrong with having fun and if cracking a joke is your defense mechanism by all means nothing wrong with that but being deliberately annoying to SA's and other guests is pure Bull Sh*t. in 2011 we were in The Thing and some A holes where punching the walls trying to figure out the boo holes laughing, we were getting annoyed then they didn't see a SA coming and almost punched him straight in the face my friend who was double that guy's height grabbed his arm before it hit the SA and just told him "Hey do I go to work and punch you while you're making Big Macs?" they just did the "Yeah what ever" face and walked away then we told a maze host and they got escorted out of the park from a bunch of security at the end of the maze. Then coming of the Terror Tram that year they had the bush people going back up the escalator and the couple in front of got scared by one on the floor then they thought it would be funny to kick it's shaker can away I ran picked it up and mutter something about Jersey Shore wannabes and over compensating for small anatomy parts then handed it back to the bush person then just an extremely adorable voice say thank you.
