HHN Hollywood 2012 Speculation

Recommended Posts

^The Smiths are going to design a Dracula maze? LOL! Wow.

I'm going to pick a few songs here at the top o' my head. Remember, it doesn't HAVE to be a movie theme. wink.gif Also, is Murdy going to even reveal what the song title is? Even if it was a movie or original, it would be kind of a dead giveaway.

Meat is Murder - Eh, this is kind of obvious. TCM. Next.

Cemetery Gates - Pantera haunted house? Okay, maybe this could mean a cemetery themed house like Orlando had, but Hollywood would get criticized from copying Orlando.Probably won't happen.

Suffer Little Children - Hope this won't be it. That would spell out a La Llorona repeat.

Queen is Dead - I could see this as some sort of French Revolution house of some sort. Hasn't that (Sort of) already been done with Alice Cooper?

Pretty Girls Make Graves - Can't think of anything except....SORORITY ROW! laugh.gif

Just some random thoughts...

Ok I been lurking off season far too long now I think its timed I chimed in on things

first codename "The Smiths"...

Meat is murder- The most likely of cases is Texas Chainsaw Massacre no doubt but let me bring this up.....isn't it TOO obviouse dont get me wrong Im putting all my chips on TCM but remeber Murdy's a master of Carny tricks the only other things I could think of are zombie related.

suffer little children- This one could be La Llorona and honestly thats the only repeat I wouldnt mind it was the best maze IMO, now for you music buffs the song is based on the "Moors Murder" were a man and a woman murdered and buried 5 children in a moor in Manchester, England the woman who was declared the "Most Evil Woman in Brittian" and died in Prison and the man was declared crimanly insane now the most obviouse *knock on wood* refrence you can fish out out is "child murderers" which one points to NOES and I realy hope im wrong! other movies with child murderers (and Im thinking realisticly) Trick r' Treat since Priciple Wilkins murdered kids and buried them in his backyard or Dead Silence "Mary Shaw's first murder was a child and Raven's Fair was a moor like area if anyone knows any other Child murderer movie (creditable) post. Also It could just be Moor thats the hint which could be "An America Werewolf In London"

Cemetary Gates-to say that this is a litteral code would be like filling up a pint glass with 5 gallons of water most every other Horror flick has a cemetary in it but since the trend seems to be the smiths the song was written as Morrisy's response to people saying he rip off literary writers so think of a movie based off of literature or this could be a original maze.

The Queen Is Dead-either A.) has something to do with a movie based in England Example: 28 Days/Weeks, An American Warewolf ect. or B.) The Smiths route the song has a sound clip from a british movie called the L-Shaped Room which is about a pregnant woman who debates weather or not to aborte her baby, while staying in a Hotel in london so take what you will from that.

Pretty Girls Make Graves-the whole theme of the song and album by the smiths speaks for its self, the story behind the album is that Sex ruins true love and young men, so I begain to think of Movies were young men or men in general are seduced and then killed by "Pretty Girls" Jennifer's Body (I know but its an example) Trick r Treat (The Werewolves) House Of 1000 Corpses (but we can count that out) I cant think of anymore right now but you get the picture!

Ill think of more latter

Per usual, I'm here to give you every tweet sent to Murdy during the timeframe the window was open.

Also, keep in mind, he said he entered SEVERAL names into his book. So look for an answer that pops up a few times (other than "Meat is Murder is TCM," because that's already our main guess).

Things are getting interesting here.

@MrsMurdy: Hey by the way...have you seen my copy of Dante's Inferno? And my Hieronymus Bosch book? I'm gonna need that soon.

Here is Hieronymus Bosch in case you were wondering who he was. Apparently he's doing research on a painter and Dante's Inferno. Something original is cooking for sure...

ok about time I actualy let some thoughts about this year flow out my mouth (errr keyboard)

first, this is most diffenatly gonna be a game changer year, if not the best year so far *knock on wood* content wise and might just be the swan song for HHNH due to that damn Harry Potter, because of two little problems the first being after Transformers opens and gets its full press and what not they're gonna start construction and so in the following years our small theme park is gonna get smaller and after that I have a gut feeling Harry potter ville will be off limits for HHN Decorating or maze placement kinda like the Dr. Suese Landing in Islands of Adventure again this is just a theory of mine I hope does not come to be.

next on original and returning content I dont see any of the movie properties returning for 2012 i.e. HOTC, Hostel, The Thing, Wolfman, Scream. IMO it would be La Llerona or Alice Cooper but Im gonna say its La Llerona (if one does return) my reasoning being although I enjoyed WTMN it wasnt anything special it was more of a novalty then it was scary, it was creepy yes but just kinda TOO random even for a nightmare and the surrealism just reminded me of a kid friendly NOES maze, to me its one and done and would be skipable for a second year, La Llerona on the other for one realy showed Murdy's Maze design skills and redeemed itself for the poor SZ previousely it was for one a Beautifull maze, Scary, Dsiturbing, and creepy and for an orignal maze had a well put togather story that was well explained even to people who are not familiur with the urban legend which was one of the main problem with WTMN i was not a fan of alice and had NO idea WTF was going on but was aware there was a story of some sorts behind it. as for Original I dont see more then two happening so my prediction the return of La Llerona and a second Maze

Now onto past properties returning I think its safe to say Freddy and Jason would be a bad choice I wouldnt put it past Uni to pull that on us but it would officialy make freddy and jason every other year a trend people would come to expect, but I do see and hope TCM has this year with a remake just in time for HHN to plug the hell out of it and may remind you guys is 2-3 with its slasher cousins NOES and F13 with HHNH. so Im calling TCM.

Dante's Inferno; ok for one its not gonna be the theme for reasons I brought up before, what I see happening is a original maze based on the idea of a Journey through hell with not so much emphasis on the Judeo-Christian Aspect of the story, or it would make a realy Awsome and finaly well decorated lower lot scarezone. or it could just be reaserch for a movie based maze like Silent Hill but thats too far fetched.

The Code Name, The Smiths look here just blant out saying the code word is the smiths.......is like say the code word is The Misfits or the word is Horror there are so many song titles and meanings you could pull out of Morrisey's hat so I doubt its an original maze since its kinda immpossible to guess an orignal maze from that unless for some reason Morrisey is desinging the long wanted emotional Teenager house.

As far as properties I think it possible for either Resident Evil, or Silent Hill to show up with there movie sequals and with both recieve serval VG sequals as well this year, I would like to say TrT feels like its possible unless like the exorcist WB are being pricks about it.

so my prediction for this year and just my prediction so far I know Ill most likely be 50% wrong

1. La Llerona

2. Orignal maze possibly being based on Dante's Inferno

3. TCM

4. HOH overlay

5. Resident Evil or Silent Hill

6. Trick r Treat

First off, welcome back Grindhouse! :)

Harry Potter will NOT hurt our event in any way, I can promise you that. It may possibly give a tad bit of trouble for the extended queue of the Shrek venue, but that's it. If anything, Potter will make our event even more spectacular. As for this year, I think Transformers will give our event a bit of a budget boost. The only thing is, JK Rawling diesn't want anything HHN-related in her precious Harry Potter area. If we're lucky, she could allow some roaming dementor careactors, but that's a huge "what if".

I will agree with you on that this year sounds like it will definately be a game changer. I've noticed on the Twitter nad FB pages how much people are asking for more original content. Judging from the hint about Dante's Inferno, I think Murdy will give them/us the desired wish.

I noticed on Murdy's Twitter that now that they're done with maze #1, they're already brain-storming with mazes 2 AND 3. I wonder if they're dealing with the original content houses?

Is it just me or are Murdy's games just silly at this point? I've lost all interest in trying to guess these mazes based on the world's vaguest hints and clues which lead in one direction and then in true sleight of hand spirit, end up somewhere else entirely. I think this year I'll just wait patiently for August to roll around to hear any actual news on the mazes and speculate without the clues in mind. They're often misleading anyway and seem to be more "in order to know anything, you're gonna have to check out this band I love." And the result leads to nobody knowing anything about the maze and people just being turned onto bands, like the onslaught of people who suddenly were Alice Cooper's biggest fans after last year's event  . There's nothing wrong with people discovering new music but this shouldn't be what the event is about...

If an original maze were to return from last year, it would be Alice Cooper because from what it seemed like, people liked that one a lot more so if I were to expect a returning original maze, it would be AC, considering John Murdy also said that Alice Cooper was rated #1. And yes I agree with that codename for the Smiths

That's what I love about HHN...the event as a whole provides a diverse set of horror themed properties to draw in and expand its fanbase. It was awesome to see how high the Alice Cooper maze was rated seeing that this event attracts a younger demographic. I doubt that people ran out in droves to buy Welcome 2 My Nightmare after seeing the maze. The maze itself felt like an original attraction, had great imagery, part Alice in Wonderland, part horror, part slasher. The electrocution /nurse room had patrons RUNNING to the next room. Here's something to speculate: what about the return of both Alice and La Llrona?

Honestly I dont remember seeing anywhere about Alice Cooper being the number one maze if anyone has a quote or tweet I would appreciate a tweet but honetly I can see Alice Cooper being the best of the year to me it was an alright maze and to me was very skipable and my personal opion hope it dont come back this year

@HorrorNights: Here's some hints on Maze #2. Its based on an existing property...a property we haven't featured at HHN in the six years I've been doing it

@HorrorNights: Here's one more hint on maze #2...it has something to do with an NFL franchise that has never won a Super Bowl.

^Here's more:

Doing a little work on maze #2 this morning. The facade is gonna be CRAZY! Need lots of room. Might throw ya a bone (i.e. hint) later today

My Spidey senses are telling me that Maze #2 is going to go in the T2 venue. Either that or the Wild West arena or the two mazes by the tram garage....actually, I guess all that means Maze #2 is not going to be in the Shrek area. lol

The Tweet that Hhnh86987 brought up:

Interesting. Wild speculation here, but what if it turns out to be The Thrilling Chilling World of Rob Zombie....the house that was there BEFORE the hiatus? Hmmmm........maybe maze #2 is going to be in the T2 venue.

Update! Here's a new hint!

Too bad I'm not much of a Football fan. Maybe someone who's into the NFL can figure this out?

Ok I'm chiming in.

Heres a list of the NFL teams that have never won a super bowl.

(I ignored the franchise comment because some teams have moved and changed names)

Buffalo Bills

Cleveland Browns

Cincinnati Bengals

Jacksonville Jaguars

Tennessee Titans

Houston Oilers

Houston Texans

San Diego Chargers

Philadelphia Eagles

Minnesota Vikings

Detroit Lions

Carolina Panthers

Atlanta Falcons

Seattle Seahawks

Arizona Cardinals

Considering the hint that came after that ("Classic Cowboy") my guesses would be Houston Texans or the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans. Resume speculation, however I have been VERY wrong before. Have fun with it.

I'm going to guess Buffalo Bills. There was a character or something named that in Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bills never won a Super Bowl and a classic cowboy

ok before I get into Classic cowboy Murdy said the Smiths song thats the hint was a very contiversal song which points fingers to "Suffer Little Children" which is a song that refrence Child Murders that took place in a Moore, it was a big issue since the parents of the victums took offense, so as for movies American Werewolve in London (Killings in a moore) or NOES (Please god no!) Dead Silence since The first victum was a child who was never found, Trick r Treat Principle Wilkins who murdered children and buried them in his backyard those are my guesses.

as for Buffalo Bill I think that hint is too obviouse and there is no refrence to Classic cowboys in Silence of the lamb that Im aware of

Ill look more into this hint tomorrow

after going through the hints and looking over past properties I realized a name that was also on the survey

Clive Barker.

He's done 3 mazes in HHN's past: CB's Hell. CB's Freakz, and CB's Harvest

which then I asked myself, how is it that the hints match up to each other.

Well all 3 songs were released in 1987. that same year only 3 Horror Movie titles came out

Evil Dead 2

Prince of Darkness

and....oh yea.....Hellraiser....

"Explorers in the further regions of experience. Demons to some. Angels to others"

All I can say.....expect something big coming very very soon

^I think a Hellraiser house would be amazing if what you're saying is true. The only thing is, Murdy has been saying that Maze #2 would have a "CRAZY" facade and that it would require a lot of space; that tells me it would be going in where T2 is. coming from someone who has only seen the first Hellraiser, I'm not really sure how the facadew ould work out other than it being the giant house.
