Not necessarily. They could do the same idea of moving specimens to Florida again. Of course, if they DO have a Thing rehash/prequel, I can only hope they'd have the true Antarctic feeling as it should be done.

As they will be wanting to advertise the new film, they will make it true to the film. Just like they advertised the upcoming Wolfman movie in 2009 by recreating scenes and scenery, they will do the same for a Thing movie.

Excellent point. The Wolfman house is definitely in my top 10 fav houses. Hearing certain things that were said in the movie that they used in The Wolfman house like I Will Kill All of You really makes the house spot on along with the movie. Every time I hear that said while watching The Wolfman movie I instantly think of that house. So my point is the more specific details they use for a house ie...The Thing prequel the more advertising it will bring for the movie.,,

Moving some spec from the Our Mutual Friend thread. This post seemed to sum up the conversation well. This is in regards to a possible "Casino House" in Sprung 2.

I agree that we should look at all possible interpretations of the code names. I also think, if A&D were going to do a casino, that they would place it in an SS. But...

Believe it or not the number of Icon Houses inside is almost even with the number outside of the sound stages.

2000 - The Fearhouse was Jack's house and it was located in Nazerman's

2001 - Run was suppose to be the Icon house, it was in Earthquake/Disaster. If memory serves, Jack was shoehorned into Superstitions which was in Nazerman's

2002 - Screamhouse was the first SS Icon house

2003 - All Nite Die-In was in an SS.

2004 - No Icon.

2005 - I'm so not starting this old argument so will err on the side of caution and just say SS house

2006 - 4 icon houses. 3 in a SS, 1 in Jaws. or 0 Icon houses since it was a reunion.

2007 - If the NLC 3 count as Icons then 4 Icons again. 1 in a SS. 3 in Disaster, Jaws, and Tent. If the NLC 3 don't count. 1 in a tent.

2008 - ROF in Jaws.

2009 - Silver Screams in Parade Bldg

2010 - Hallow'd Past in Parade Bldg.

Depending on how you wish to add it, we have 5, 8 or 9 in SS's including the Parade Bldg as a SS. 4, 5 or 7 outside. I may have missed a variation there.

Something to remember. It is not unusual for code names to be numbered even if there is only one instance of a character in a house on a cast, although it does usually mean multiples. But, if we saw characters such as Goblin 1, 2, 3, & 4, it usually doesn't mean 4 goblins per cast. 1 & 3 would most likely be cast A and 2 & 4 would be cast B. Goblin is purely an example. To my knowledge no goblins have been cast.

And now, to a speculation on Disaster.

We've seen fairy tales and urban legends from Uni, but what if we are going to see a different set of legendary characters. The roles I am about to refer to can be found at http://www.hhnrumors.com/?x=casting

Woodteeth - Tooth Fairy

Dwarf/Dorf - Leprechaun

Love - Cupid

Watch - Santa Claus

Egg - Easter Bunny

Grass - Camo Scare - Plastic Easter Grass

Top Hat - Frosty the Snowman

Just a thought.

A quick comment on the "Dorf" codename. Dorf spelled like that means "town" or "village" in German. I was looking at rumors and it is spelled dorf but I have no clue how a scareactor can take role of a village, unless thats the setting or if Uni is trying to throw us off completely..

That is a common misconception. However, the truth is it is not.

Ohio is not a real place.... just like Nebraska....

Huh... wonder why Rob picked Nebraska... *scowls*

And yes, they're just talking about the intro to the site. No new teasers yet.

Guest HHNPicMan

So I was thinking the other day about auditions and casting for this year's HHN. It seems across the board that less scareactors are being hired this year than in the past. Does anyone remember the "Guest Activated Scare" which was placed in the Echoes of Shadybrook house last year?

So I was wondering, is Universal using self activated scaring devices this year? If they are, will we find them in each house? Perhaps, several times throughout each house?

From what is currently known, the houses appear to be longer than in previous years. If this is true, and Universal is hiring less scareactors than in previous years, then doesn't make sense that perhaps we will see many self scares in houses?

Just speculating!

The problem is that guest-activated triggers are really only going to be activated by two kinds of people: asshole drunks who touch everything they see in the house, and fans like us who know about them several days into the event. Those two groups are hardly the only people who go to the event, so a lot of the GP will just have to be lucky to see them. Otherwise the houses will seem very empty.

Thanks, I use the update checker that's why I was so confused. I figured he was just talking about the intro.

Sorry for the confusion, but where it says "No One Beats The House" the swinging light, kinda like a Police interrogation, one of the code names was interrogator or something to that effect, maybe a murder in a casino? I dunno random speculation I guess.

Fairly certain there will be murder at HHN, yes. If we're having a Casino-themed Haunted House, I'm fairly certain there will be lots of dead or dying people involved. I don't think the teaser is meant to allude anything about interrogation, and that role name is likely just code for something else.

Sorry this is my first year speculating

I think we're all just getting desperate, picking apart the teaser trying to find something else because we've had the same site for... three weeks now? I can understand the desperation, but I think at this point we'll just need to wait for the next update to really have more to go on!

Yeah, definitely I'm really hoping for an update anytime now..... the anticipation is killing me

Well guys, HHNGUY just confirmed that there will be a thing house this year. He is my source for all things halloween horror nights.

Hell yeah, I'd love another Thing house, if they make the location of Antarctica I will flip the eff out!!

While the new Thing house most likely will be set in Antartica, I really don't see it being much "colder" than most other houses. It might be a bit chillier, but Universal has attempted "cold" houses before (Cold, Blind Terror) and they have failed, miserably. It cost a lot of money to generate the amount of energy needed to keep a venue as big as soundstage (even a smaller soundstage) 25 degrees colder than what's outside. When you throw in the open doors and the thousands of people walking through and generating heat, it cost even more.

While Gaylord Palms pulls it off with "ICE" every year, a large majority of their budget goes into chilling the exhibit halls they use, and it requires constant maintenance. I just can't see management being willing to drop the type of money needed to pull something like that off.

The soundstages are chilly already. I'd much rather see Universal invest in incredible sets, puppets, costumes, and animatronics than a passive "extra cold" effect. Maybe a cold blast here or there, but nothing more is necessary.

actually they dont need to do anything at all, because like Fallow said, the soundstages are usually really cold, specially when you add the Florida heat we have, it feels even colder,

AS Long as they don't do the house anywhere else but in the soundstage, it would be fine

SS has to be it, because no other code names would match up with The Thing

This Thing house i take it that its going to be similar to the Wolfman?...by this i mean how it gave us a preview as to what the movie would be about

Originally, Wolfman was supposed to be released in theaters in 08. Then it got pushed back to three different dates in 09 until finally being released in February 2010. They were probably working with Wolfman being released before HHN that year before it got pushed back to 2010 the July before 09s HHN. I remember seeing an ad for Wolfman by the Horror Makeup show at least 2 months before HHN started that year.

But, seeing as how The Thing is scheduled to be released this October, I'd say yes, hopefully without revealing to much before the movie comes out.
