Guest
The only "casino" there would be would be the event as a whole, but it's definitely not a house. Besides... nothing on the website has explicitly said, "casino." It's all been gambling which doesn't necessarily have to take place in a casino. I can play black-jack on my wood, dining room table. I can buy a roulette wheel for home use as well. All we have right now are a set of doors, a pair of cards, and games of luck. Even the term, "House," applies to any establishment for any game; thus the term, "House Rules." Sprung 2, though, is NOT a casino. True, you do bring up a valid point. I'm just trying to help you avoid that sense of embarrassment when people say "I told you so" when you assume wrong, in the end when everything is revealed in a couple of weeks. That's where I'm getting at with my previous statement. You are entitled to your opinion and I have my opinion, because I think otherwise.
Guest HHNPicMan
I would like to let everyone know that street construction has started. 2 new pics in the construction thread. Also as promised, I would like to post some updated images from the "Rumor Window," that was talked about yesturday. The only differences are some of the hats have been removed, and some have been added. Like was said by Legacy and others yesturday, this may be accurate, it may not be. Only time will tell. Howeve, I say its worth the post. Also, sorry about the glare. It was extremely bright today and all I had was my iphone.

Blizzrock13
So... you're implying that a "guest," imaginary as he may be," would somehow die at Universal, and then Universal would release a statement to the media stating that said "guest" had died at the park? Doubtful. I wouldn't be surprised if "he" keeps posting throughout the run. That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying he would continue posting these grainy, teaser photos for the majority of the houses. Then, say for example, he gets to the last house, promises us a video, and we get something akin to the Bill and Ted sneak-in in '09 or the Legendary Truth exploration of Bloody Mary's office in '08. There's a reason they released these through this fake guest Hal, instead of just posting it on the website. ~Blizz Edited August 16, 2011 by Blizzrock13
Dr. Jimmy
I too originally thought a "casino" or some other "gambling house" would be a given this year. My feelings were that Universal A&D were playing a double bluff on us. They expected us to doubt that the clear-cut codenames in Sprung Tent 2 would be a casino and thus they knew we would doubt and speculate differently. There has been quite a bit of speculation that this house will be an adaptation of many works by Edgar Allan Poe. I doubted this for a number of reasons, including the fact that it is known such a house will be presented at HOS, but also because I myself could not find any real evidence of such a house. Now I am not altogether sure about it. There has been talk of "whispers" about a Poe house from some sources, none of whom have actually whispered to me. I do not know if these are whispers from people who are actually in a position to know about it, or if it had something to do with something Emeric Belasco said just before he "disappeared". That was a code word which was not supposed to be revealed in public, but which got leaked anyway, and it made a clear reference to Poe's "Fall of the House of Usher". The Poe rumors however persist, and now another mysterious person, Hal Geluk has a direct reference to the same Poe story on his Facebook page. The code names for Sprung Tent 2 can indeed be interpreted as a Poe house as Heather has shown us. And I have also heard from various sources that "seagulls" are actually "ravens", and a raven has popped up nearly invisible on the website. So it seems there is increasing evidence now that Tent 2 may be Poe after all, but still there is nothing definitive, no real "smoking gun"... yet. Should this be a Poe house after all, I shall be very glad indeed to have been proven wrong in my speculations. Although some think otherwise, I have no burning need to "always be right" about everything. In fact I have long expressed a desire to see Poe adapted at HHN. I have loved the works of Edgar Allan Poe since early childhood, and the films based on his works, especially those starring Vincent Price remain some of my favorite films of all time. It is because of my love for Poe that I used a Poe house in my April Fool's videos a few months ago, and it would give me enormous satisfaction to have some part of my silly joke come true! Legacy
That's absurd, and not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying he would continue posting these grainy, teaser photos for the majority of the houses. There's a reason they released these through this fake guest Hal, instead of just posting it on the website. I'm simply erring on the side of "they're doing something with it" rather than "they decided for no reason to release pictures through a fake person." ~Blizz There's no story to it this year, and there will likely be no "icon" house this year. That's the difference. Also, Universal wouldn't upload a "fans" video. Hal is acting like the website, by providing pictures that are normally provided on the main site. Without the story, don't expect a climax.
Pumpkin
Its there. However, not in the pictures I just posted. Give me about 5 minutes to post some more pics. It is taking a while. I will update this post when I get them updated. Thanks for posting them, and no problem. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something obvious, like I usual do. hah
Guest HHNPicMan
Some more pictures from the "Rumor Window." Some of these are older so you may see different objects in different places from the last set of pictures I uploaded. The cowboy hat is behind the black hat (the one with the little balls hanging down) from last year's scarezone. There's not a really clear picture. But, in person, its definitely a cowboy hat. Legacy
Oh, and since no one has stated it yet. It does look like we are, in fact, getting 2 scarezones in New York. Which means "Lucy" probably won't be all that scary...

I enjoy his stories and own the entire collection on ibooks. Poe would be great.
Oysterhead00
Hmmmmm, we've all heard the rumors about less scareactors being hired....maybe they've decided to "Relocate Resources" to the streets and construction. (Yes, that's an HR euphemism for putting money into things rather than people!) Coupled with rumored helicopter in The Thing house, the couple week advance start sounds like their trying to spruce up the eye candy for the whole event. If this is true, I'm THRILLED by it...but I'm sure others would prefer crappy sets with more scareactors.

I've always been highly impressed with the interiors of the houses. Unless of course you mean the outside sets for scarezones which on occasion have been sparingly decorated. Saying that even the worst scarezone theyve done is better than anything we get in England. Were still using pop up heads painted with fluorescent paint lol. Dr. Jimmy
the doubloon that you flip heads or tails at the beginning is not just any Spanish Doubloon. Its one from the late 15th Century featuring the images of both the King and Queen, Ferdinand and Isabella whose marriage united Spain. The reverse is the Hapsburg shield of their lineage. I would date this at about 1492...
Rossco999
Around the same time as Columbus' first voyage. It still seems like the maze could be more of a "Lost Ship" theme instead of a pirate ship.

bberts
the doubloon that you flip heads or tails at the beginning is not just any Spanish Doubloon. Its one from the late 15th Century featuring the images of both the King and Queen, Ferdinand and Isabella whose marriage united Spain. The reverse is the Hapsburg shield of their lineage. I would date this at about 1492... As a retired teacher of history, I would concur with Dr. Jimmy in part, but disagree with another. That is Ferdinand and Isabella on the front of the doubloon. Before I go on, please forgive me for probably taking this a bit farther down the path of history than many of you want to know about. This is just my 'teacher mode' kicking in so to speak. Ok, on the reverse side of the doubloon, we are NOT seeing the Hapsburg shield, or Coat of Arms. Ferdinand and Isabella were not part of the Hapsburg or Habsburg dynasties. They were of the House of Trastamara, which was the House of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. The Hapsburgs didn't rule in Spain until after the death of Isabella in 1504, when her daughter Joanna was crowned Queen of Castile. Joanna's husband was Philip, the son of the Holy Roman Emperor, the House of Hapsburg. Ferdinand was still alive at this time, but Castile (Isabella was from Castile, while Ferdinand was from Aragon) decided to swear allegiance to Joanna. Sooooo to keep a long story short, Joanna fell victim to insanity (She was known as Joanna the Mad) and Philip died under very suspicious circumstances (He was most likely poisoned) but they did have a son, Charles. Ferdinand ruled until he died in 1516 and Charles became Charles I, King of Spain. In 1519, when his grandfather died, Charles also became the Holy Roman Emperor and then known as Charles V. Next to the Pope, he was the most powerful man in Christendom at that time, as the Holy Roman Empire was vast indeed. Ok, enough of the history lesson. But it does lead to another interesting bit of information. The particular coat of arms shown on the Doubloon is of particular note because of the small sort of inverted baseball diamond shaped triangular area in the bottom middle portion of the shield. This portion of the Coat of Arms of Ferdinand and Isabella was NOT part of the Coat of Arms specifically until 1492. Why? Because this portion represents the conquest of Granada in 1492 that drove Muslim rule out of Spain and completed the Reconquista. The Coat of Arms shown on the Doubloon was adopted in 1492 to represent this conquest and to commemorate the success of the reconquista. Dr. Jimmy, I hope you aren't offended by my correction here. I am grateful for the insight and information you provide, and want to thank you for it. Wow, I do so love history, and the teaching of it. I really miss my classroom and my students....sigh. I am really excited about the possibilities of this house, as well as the possibility of a Poe house. Edited August 17, 2011 by bberts
BloodyBulldawg
Maybe they didn't hire as many scareactors (if the rumor is true) because of how much attrition occurs with new hires. I imagine the net new hires that stay throughout event is less than 200. Quality (returning scareactors) over quantity (new hires). I can't prove it, I only know what I've seen over the past 4 years. Though I do think its great that they "may" be enriching the SZs this year. The more indepth and immersive the SZs the more it feels like the whole park is invovled. I'm all about the "immersive" feeling. Umm... bberts... You are awesome! I loved the history lesson. Thank you for giving us such an awesome and accurate background!
