Congratulations! You’ve been selected to be one of the lucky contestants on RUN, the most popular and brutal television show in the world. In this house, you’ll have to try and avoid the skilled assassins known as Reapers as you work through “death obstacles” designed to mangle and shred—all for the amusement of the audience watching from home. And good news: the now run-down Hellgate Prison has been selected as the battleground. Good luck!"

And this will be in Hellgate Prison? I wonder how they'll "explain" the RUN facade being put in front of a prison. Sounds retro and awesome.

This is from the blog:

I'm nonplussed.  Didn't do 2001, did 2006 and it was blah.  For me, just personally, I've never had good luck with Disaster houses, as far as them being memorable for me.  Haven't outright disliked any, but they're always just so-so.

Sorry, last year was my first year.

It's a little hard to describe then. A room with bladed walls that move towards you. A room with spiked walls. May a room with "electrical wires" dangling down. That sort of stuff. There may be some kill scenes in there as well.

(The grinder FTW).

I never got to experience the original Run either.  That's just a few years before my time (sidebar: why doesn't Universal play their HHN commercial country wide?? Thank god my son saw the Travel Channel special when he did, or I might still be oblivious). However, the premise does sound a lot like The Running Man. Stephen King has created these game shows of death long before the Hunger Games.  Running Man, and one of my all -time faves, "The Long Walk" (written as Richard Bachman).  I may watch the Running Man before the event just for shits and giggles.

This went from "meh" to "I'm into this" just by the description. I thought this was gonna just be the torture porn house of this year, so I'm glad to see they're leaning more towards the game show concept. I like the new high techish logo. Subtitle's okay, though I'm surprised they didn't just go with RUN: Hellgate Prison. Or if they wanted to be clever....RUN: Hell's Gate.

Random prediction: Each of the Reapers has a different theme to them. That Canada photo was for this, because Mike said the Reaper in that area was Canadian. I'm guessing the Reapers have divided Hellgate into different "arenas" and themed them after themselves.

Please, someone explain why they're using the old RUN logo on the facade, not the new (better) logo that's featured in the house logo.

The only thought that pops to mind is they're truly trying to capture the 2001 version and do a throwback look.

Curiously, how do you know this? I saw the images of the old one with yellow/red lightbulbs.

i walked passed the facade a few days ago. The original sign cannot be seen from where the queue would be. (it's a pretty big facade) the original sign can only be seen from the extended Disaster! queue. I'm not saying that they won't potentially move the sign out front. However, as of right now it's on the inside.

It'll be my first time at Orlando's HHN, and i've heard so much about this particular maze. But are we actually going to "run" from scareactors? Or is it the same conga line like the rest?

Man, that profile pic!!  Yeah, in this instance Run is a relative term.  You'll be walking.  But you can run out of those house if you choose.
