HHN XX Speculation

Recommended Posts

I'm with Three Circles and Chip on this one, while to all of us the 20th anniversary of HHN marks a huge milestone, something tells me that for the company it will just be used as a means of marketing this year. In other words, look at this 20th anniversary year as the unnamed icon if you will... ;)

Personally after attending for going on 20 years, I've learned that first and foremost, don't buy into any hype. Nothing is written in stone, and as Chip said you just have to take everything you hear with a grain of salt. I've said it numerous times and I'll say it again, I don't believe anything until I walk through the gates on opening night and see it for myself. There's always way too much overzealous speculation by the fans and this year won't be an exception.

You can't be disappointed if you go in with an open mind and remember that no matter what opening weekend is like, the even always improves as it moves into October.

exactly! I think the fans get a little too over-zealous (which isn't a bad thing, i know i do), but they don't remember that hype will always be better than the actual event.. if you go in being able to take everything in stride and have no previous conceptions, I think that it will be better in the end.

To be honest, In my opinion thats the only true way to enjoy it as a fan of the event. If you are willing to take things in stride and don't compare the event to some previous expectations in your mind, you will enjoy the event far more, and overall it will have been a much better event as that year's season comes to a close.

Some people will be disappointed regardless, but that is the way of life. I mean, sure, nothings ever PERFECT 100% of the time, and sometimes I think people need to realize that. Not to say that Criticism is necessarily a bad thing tho, I mean when criticism is heard, then the changes it can lead to can lead to a much more remarkable event in years to come. There is a difference between criticism and an angry tirade over everything that went wrong with your trip, you may have just had a bad night, it happens sometimes, but hopefully you can enjoy the event for what it is, and look forward to a better event in the future...an optimistic viewpoint going in certainly helps you enjoy that years event, and certainly the event as a whole.

And With That...Happy Speculation Everyone

Paranormal Activity the House: Only at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando!

After a young, middle class couple (Katie and Micah) moves into a suburban 'starter' tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.

Katie discloses to Micah that she has been haunted since she was eight year-old. The skeptical Micah buys a camera to videotape the paranormal activity in their home during the night. Katie calls Fredrichs, to help them, but he explains that he is not a specialist in ghosts. However he feels the presence of a fiendish ghoul and advises the couple to call the experts in, the Legendary Truth Collective.

The Legendary Truth arrive at the home and try the door bell but no one answers and no lights are on. They force their way in and you enter with them and discover the truth about what happened to Katie and Micah....

Well Universal Hollywood has done they're usual change to the HHN web site, it’s a non-descript web site about HHN 2010. It says to look for updates in early June, so it shouldn't be long before the Orlando site changes. Hopefully with a hint of the theme, but I’m not counting on anything. :zombie2:

Wow, how exciting!

I don't ever think we'll see a parade again. The crowds are just too big, and there are too many drunken idiots who get brave and do stupid shit. I think it's sad, really, because I loved the parade, but I really can't see it ever making a return.

Sadly enough Michele I do believe you are right. There are so many elements today that would make a parade virtually impossible and incredibly unsafe. It's sad because it really would be amazing to bring back some of those old school traditions, but like you said, with the mass amount of druken idiots the event attracts today, it would be too risky for Uni.

I just want to touch up on all the "rumors" going around in the past weeks. This whole "Reunion" thing, or wait.. is it an "Anniversary"? Ok.. Reunion vs. Anniversary.

Let's speculate on this a bit! Bloody Mary, Freddy, Jason and Leatherface are rumored not to be part of HHN 20 due to copyright, contracts, etc. Some people seem to be upset by this because it can't be a Reunion without them? Wait.. again, is it a Anniversary or a Reunion. Anniversary.. ok.

Just because it's an Anniversary year does not mean we need to see every ICON/Mascot/Host involved with the event in the past be at HHN 20. In life I have Anniversary's come and go, but I don't have a Family Reunion to go along with it!

Sure anything can happen at any point in time to have Bloody Mary and the BIG 3 be at HHN XX, but would it matter that much? The BIG 3 were just part of that year's event, not ICON's and not Mascot's! Bloody Mary was just basically for marketing and a house, which was one of the worst at an HHN event for a ICON.. whom you rarely ever saw in the park besides signage and ROF.

Maybe I'd like to see Friday the 13th and NOES houses based off the new movies, but would you want them to waste two houses on these non-UNI characters, not to mention the money? Same goes for Bloody Mary. Save the cash, and put it towards UNI's own creations and more Scare Actors.

Wait.. it is an Anniversary, right?

That's it for now! ;)

I'm thinking it's anniversary, but then again maybe it's like high/school college and it's a reunion?! LOL In any case, I agree with Mark, it would be nice to see Uni save their cash and spend it on their own creations and more scareactors for this 20th year. And personally, I would rather see mascots/icons from many years past than more recent years. If we're going to celebrate 20 years of an event, why not go back in time a bit further so that those folks who didn't attend the eariler years maybe get a taste of the old school HHN days.

Yes. To truly celebrate a 20th Anniversary of HHN we need to go back further than Jack and HHN X! Not many people seem to be thinking like that, including myself due to the fact we've only been going since 2002. I personally would like to see more history of Halloween Horror Nights, with some stuff from Fright Nights through HHN IX though.

Does anyone think they will have any Houses and Scare Zone's from anything earlier than 2000? It's not looking to good right now.

I agree that it doesn't look too likely. Look at '06, yes they brought back Dungeon of Terror but they also stuck the Storyteller in there for the GP.

It would be simply amazing to see some houses and scare zones show up from the years prior to 2000...I'd love to see (and I've said this many times before) the original Midway of the Bizarre show up in Amity once again...overdose of fog and all. :) House wise it would be great to see the S.S. Frightanic and the original SS version of People Under the Stairs once again. There are just so many old school concepts that could truly make this 20th year a very special look back at what has made this event such a popular one. I love the idea of seeing a history of HHN...that would be fantastic!

Is it time for Michael Meyers to have his turn with a house?

I've been hoping for this for many years now...and I must say, this would be the perfect year to give him the chance to let his freak flag fly in his very own house. ;)

I would love them to do that too, the problem lies in a few things:

1. the general public wasn't going back then as much, so it wouldn't mean much to them, just to us

2. There really weren't icons as we know them, so it would be hard to represent them beyond trying to bring back their houses... I mean, crypt keeper would work if they were allowed to use him, but beyond that.. I can't think of anyone else that's iconic and recognizable to use as a figure head for their years.

3. ... I had something, but I just blanked... when I remember I'll post it.

So, with the rumor of the Bill and Ted show being moved to the T2:3D stage, will many of us have one of our wishes granted for this year's event? Could it be the return of the Midway of the Bizarre in fog-filled Amity? I am cautiously optimistic. :capt:

Hmmm...very interesting rumor! I'm with you, I'll be optimistic that perhaps we will be seeing the old school Midway of the Bizarre make a fog filled return to the streets of Amity! :D

B&T on the T2 stage? Wonder how much that will help or hurt the show if it ends up being true...

If they go this route I hope it don't interfere with any Scare Zone they decide to have in the Hollywood area. With the main entrance not far away, a Scare Zone, and the B&T show crowds.. that will be one busy area. It isn't congested as the Amity area though, so it may be better.

You'll probably lack any decent pyro in the T2 theater though, but maybe the screens and some 3D effects if they can, will make up for it!

I personally have no idea what this year will hold. But I will be honest and say that I still hold out hope for an adaptive park icon vs. icon battle. While I am all for new content I really think it would be fun to see a war between icons. But I think this would only work if they changed the park slightly as one side started winning. Being an anniversary year I think it would be a good year to give it a shot.
