HHN Hollywood 2014 Speculation

Recommended Posts

No no no!

I kid I kid but really for someone who over reacted for Insidious and ended up loving it...... even that is going too far to me.

Honestly I'm excited for this! I love the movie and although I have never seen the series....does it matter? Not like the Scare actors would look like George Clooney, Quentin Taratino, Tom Savini, Harvey Kiatel or Selma Hyak anyways, and from what I seen most of it matches the movie . Honestly I know I might get hate for this but I can't get into AHS, I get bored and the scare pay off for me is slim to non it's basically just seems like over produced porn most of the time and Coven was just WTF to me. But I get people like it and I wouldn't complain (I'll joke) but I wouldn't be furious.

But that is just my opinion

Hmm... After a little snooping around I've found that, on the same playlist that the 2 leaked vids for FDTD were on, there are 3 other deleted/private videos.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4B8E71E36450C197

Were they all for FDTD? Or something else?

THE PLOT THICKENS

I bet some of those were for Their Purge and Face Off scarezones...

But why not Planet Terror?! Grrrrr. Could've used the El Cucuy facade and have the Grindhouse double bill on it. Walk into the theater, walk into the movie -- have that old, 70s feel to it all, complete with crappy mono sound. Maybe literally walk into a scene and it just be construction walls with "set not yet built" written somewhere. Lots of references to Death Proof like the Jungle Julia billboard, crashed cars with zombified girls, and maybe a zombified Kurt Russel at the end. Quentin Tarantino association would've been HUGE as well.

As for the "what does this mean for Dracula Untold" spec and variety why aren't you doing Resident Evil spec...

TWD and Resident Evil both are modern/near future post apocalypse settings with rotten faces zombies.

Dracula Untold is a medieval cape and sword movie with (from what I've seen) pale faced mostly human vampires. From Dusk Till Dawn is modern with more demonic looking vampires, in an entirely different part of the world.

And wait, now we are complaining about HHN doing original mazes last year and not doing more IPs? I thought we were complaining about not enough originals. And I thought we were complaining that HHN isn't doing enough lesser known IPs, now there's FDTD and it's a let down? How does anybody justify saying the GP complains too much/is never happy?

Everyone is a critic and will never be happy with anything.

I don't think Dracula Untold is coming. I mean Cabin in the Woods was pretty different from Evil Dead and Murdy still saw them as being too similar. What do you guys think?

Totally agree. When the GP hears vampires, all they hear is vampires. There's no difference to the GP, whereas with WD/RE, the GP can tell them apart.

With Cabin, the setting (at least for the first half of the film) was pretty similar. The setting and creature design in FDTD aren't very similar to what we've seen from Dracula: Untold.Im still pretty confident that it's coming

You're probably right. After what happened with the Thing in 2011 and with a Vampire property already announced (and Murdy's emphasis on Variety) it's just hard for me to visualize it. The fan reaction to the trailer has been lukewarm at best from what I've seen and with Knotts rumored to have 6 new mazes this year Murdy really needs to bring in the heavy hitting I.Ps. People might not like Knotts but there is still more to do there and for less the price which is a huge blow to HHN. Again it's probably just me not digging the action vibe from Dracula Untold, who knows, maybe it will come and i'm just being dumb.

Hard to say. Last year had a few time sensitive properties, so in a way CITW was also competing with every other IP. Variety could have been a selling point rather than a deciding factor.

But I'm inferring, I could be wrong.

What is the basis for this? Since when is it a thing where vampires that look nothing alike look more like each other than rotten flesh zombies/walkers?

Not entirely true... I'm pretty sure Marketing put The Licker front and center for the Resident Evil advertisements last year to let the GP know it's not just more zombies in a different setting. Thanks to the movies when the GP hears Resident Evil they think of Zombies, slow-motion action sequences and Milla Jovovitch.

I guess it's all how you market it.

They need to announce this already... which reminds me would Murdy do the first film or Requiem? First film has interesting sets but Requiem being set in a suburban town and having a lot more gore (which Hollywood has shown to be geared more towards) could we see Hollywood using more from the second film?
