I'm extremely excited about all of them, but after that first image from The Forsaken, I think that I am most excited about that one. Though I think Nightingales may be the scariest. H.R. Bloodengutz sounds like it's going to be really cool and I like "cleave" reference. I'm also super excited about Nevermore as I feel a Poe house is long overdue. I'm not big on 3D houses but I think The In Between is a rather cool concept. The other three I'm probably the least excited about.

1) The Forsaken

2) Nightingales: Blood Prey

3) Nevermore: The Madness of Poe

4) H.R. Bloodengutz Presents Holidays of Horror

5) The In Between

6) Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetary

7) The Thing

8) Saws N' Steam

This was really hard because there are so many good, creative ideas! Really, any of my top 4 could have made my #1 slot. They all sound promising.

It will be interesting to see what changes between our "anticipated" lists and how we feel about the houses once we've experienced them. I wonder if we'll have a "sleeper hit" this year?

The four that I am most excited for are The In Between, Nightingales: Blood Prey, Nevermore: The Madness of Poe, and Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery. These all seem very promising. Forsaken also looks pretty good. The others look really great, and I find it very hard to choose which one stands out above the others. I am so pumped for this year!

im glad there is no casino anything!

This is So hard to decide, SO hard! They all feel so amazing, and creative,

I think adding Banshees to the War house was pure genius, i mean, they could have gone with one concept, but crossing concepts was so cool,

My most anticipated are

The In Between

Nightingales: Blood Prey

Nevermore: The Madness of Poe

not sure how the saws and steam will be, im happy to hear but, I'll have to see

The Thing, I hope is really good

this year ALL houses sound good, which i have to say, first year that happens to me, that im excited for all of them from the beginning

What are your most anticipated houses?

Nevermind the houses - I am looking forward to this year's HHN more than I have in years because I like to hang out in the scare zones! I usually get the FFP and go as many nights as possible, but I don't normally go into many houses... I find that the lines are usually too long and the houses all actually do kinda creep me out because I'm claustrophobic and peoplephobic, so just being trapped shoulder to shoulder with all those people is a nightmare to me, even without people jumping out.

I can (and do) spend a whole night in just one scarezone though, especially with the right scareactors (you know who you are . . . .). I spent *three entire nights* in the Alice in Wonderland scarezone exclusively back in 08. Everyone in that zone was just fantastic, all the way through, end to end.

All that said, this sounds like it's going to be possibly the most detailed and varied collection of scarezones ever attempted at HHN, and by far. . . That makes it more Awesome than the scarezones have been in a while because they all sound like they provide completely different - yet all entirely self-contained and convincing - environments to wander around in. As a person whose favorite part about HHN is hanging back in scarezones watching the scareactors almost make peoples' hearts explode, I am excited to see what sounds like a collection of quite beautiful *environments*

I mean . . . when's the last time they did that? The past few years the scarezones have just been varied based on the type of characters wandering about, not the actual look and feel of the zone itself, and don't get me started on the impotent scarezone clones poor poor Julian got - even the tour guide on the guided tour said that two of the zones were pretty much exactly the same. That doesn't cut it for me! I need to be immersed! Recent scarezones haven't quite hit that mark. There are exceptions of course.... but this year it sounds like *all* of them are complete immersive environments.

I for one can't wait, just based on the scarezones. I'd even love to see them during the day ( :: crosses fingers that I'm not too broke for RIP :: ). I can't even wrap my head around how they're going to pull off a maze that morphs!

Throw in an Edgar Allan Poe house and a house that promises to bend reality and you've got yourself a deal, with or without Lady Luck's help. I do declare!

Also, I'm glad other people are out there who were aware of the site going live as soon as it happened and felt the need to thoroughly consume and discuss. All my friends who live in the Real World don't get it! :)

Why no Casino house? Lame.

I think this trend of no icon house in the new era works since the icons are forces personified. They are in all the event in some small way. Fear was obvious but with luck choice and chance I think is more prevalent. More red buttons and the changing scarezone the changing scareactors in 7. I like the idea that they are there always even without being seen.

My top house this year is forsaken I wanted a pirate house but this could still work.

1. Nightingales: Blood of Prey

I loved the War SZ from a couple years back, can't wait to see a full house.

2. Nevermore: The Madness of Poe

Not a fan of Poe and not a big literary guy. Wasn't too excited about this house (was actually preferring the Casino that was thought to be there) until they released the picture. Now I CAN'T WAIT to see the rest of the house.

3. H.R. Bloodengutz Presents

I love the comedy houses....

4. The In Between

...as well as the 3D ones. Granted, they usually aren't scary, but they are a blast. My group tends to go through these houses multiple times if possible. Also, love it when Scareactors wear black and then a neon mask so with the glasses and lights it looks like a floating head. Lots of fun.

5. Saws n Steam

I liked the Scarezone, but I'm not a huge fan of Steampunk stuff. But the blue prints they released of devices in this house has me intrigued.

6. The Thing

The first Carpenter film is one of my favorites of all time and I'm looking forward to the sequel...but with the amazing original houses this year, it's surprisingly far down my list.

7. The Forsaken

I know some of my friends would go insane if it was a pirate house...but I wasn't too psyched for it. And the website reveal really does nothing for me.

8. Winter's Night Cemetery

Could be amazing, could be lame. I really know nothing about it so it's at the bottom because I'm not that excited as I know nothing to get excited about.

1. The Forsaken - This may be the closest to "excited" I am for any house. Honestly, from story, to theme, to what appears to be character design, this one feels like a lovely marriage between Ghost Town and Frightanic. Not a bad thing. Not a bad thing at all.

I know several people in this house, who are all multi-year veterans, which definitely benefits them as well. This could be a gang-busters smash.

2. Nevermore: The Madness of Poe - I'm a bit amused as my Catacombs cast mates discussed the potential in a Poe house or event last year, but the image from the Tell-Tale Heart room is better than anything I could have imagined. I really hope that's not the best room in the house, because that's a teaser image that is setting the bar almost impossibly high.

3. Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetary - I'm highly intrigued by this one. I love the idea of "open" houses with bigger rooms and paths, and a cemetery seems like the perfect theme to construct a house that way. I really hope the lanterns are effectively used, because being forced to stay near the light can cause a whole heck of a lot of tension. Conceptually, I’m in love with this house.

4. The In-Between - I'm not a fan of 3-D houses. I'm not a fan of "fun-houses." However, the story of this one is so strikingly different from all the other 3-D houses Universal has done I'm holding out hope. The darker tone, and demonic edge will, hopefully, carry this one higher than previous 3-D houses. It's where Catacombs was, so it better do Sprung 1 proud.

5. The Thing - I didn't get a chance to go through Assimilation, which is probably a good thing. While I don't like "movie houses," the Thing has that perfect mix of paranoia and character design that can really send a haunted house over the top to a higher level. Putting this in a soundstage, and with the rumor of a helicopter, means this house could be awe-inspiring.

6. Saws and Steam: Enter the Machine - I hate to say, but this one has potential disaster written all over it. It could have a lot of show scenes based on elaborate set-pieces, which would essentially turn the entire thing into a Steampunk Saw house. Putting it in Jaws doesn't help quell my skepticism. I'm holding out hope though, because the concept of New Yorkshire works and it will have a strong cast.

7. H.R. Bloodngutz Presents: Holidays of Horror – “Calendar Fear.” That’s the concept I’m holding A&D to on this one. I wrote this up last year, so I want them to beat me conceptually.

Withholding

Nightingale’s Bloody Prey – Wait, what? Simply, I have a personal problem with a “war” house, just like I had a problem in 2009 with a “war” scarezone. I have been asked by some combat Veterans who attend the event if they can handle this house, and I don’t know. Recreating visuals and sounds from an actual war may be too much for them, and I would be disappointed in Universal if they are not sensitive to Veterans who attend. So, I am withholding judgment on this house until Employee Preview when I can go through it. I will be posting a write up about the house specifically for Service Members and Veterans on my thoughts, but I refuse to rank or anticipate it before then.

This was really difficult, especially my top 4 so I'm just going to lump them together because I can't decide. The Thing is at the bottom simply because I did not care for the rendition of it I went through the last time they had a Thing house but I am hoping this one really surprises me.

1 - 4. Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery

H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror

This is such a tough call... They all sound awesome this year! Many of these could flip flop.

1.) H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror - Dark comedy house is usually my favorite

2.) The Forsaken - From what I;ve heard so far... Epic

3.) Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery - Looks really promising

4.) Nevermore: The Madness of Poe - The shot we got is awesome

5.) Nightingales: Blood Prey - WWI and banshees? Sign me up.

6.) The Thing - Loved the first this one promises to be even more epic

7.) Saws n Steam: Into the Machine - Loved S&S... can't wait to see more.

8.) The In Between - The premise is cool. I'm leary of 3D. I have been in every 3D house and they have never been my favorite. Here's to hoping!

For some reason it is hard for me to rank these houses... I'm not a fan of 3D houses b/c they usually aren't scary, just cartoonish. This year it seems like they are trying to make it actually scary. Well, here goes my rankings...

1. Nightengales: Blood Prey- Sounds like if done correctly it could be insane. I envision a crazy atmosphere with lots of intensity, I just hope my expectations aren't too high

2. Winter's Night- Sounds creepy as hell and I can only imagine the atmosphere

3. Holidays of Horror- Love the humor houses

4. Nevermore: The Madness of Poe- Very cool idea and if executed could be classic

5. Saws n' Steam- This house screams in your face intensity... hope they have those crazy eyes like last year

6. The In Between- Not a fan of 3D houses but this seems pretty good

7. The Thing- Enjoyed the first time they did this... I'm sure it can only improve

8. The Foresaken- Original but I have my doubts... If it is done correctly I can see it being top notch

VERY hard to pick these houses in an order of anticipation. I can't remember when it has been this hard. My only drawback is it doesn't seem that Lady Luck has her own house.
