HHN Hollywood X (2011) Speculation

Recommended Posts

So now we have 2 out of 6 different types of horror

Creature horror

Extreme Gore horror

Think of the others said to come

Also we all were right about Elis coming and 3 Dogs Night

I can also proudly say

I'm Officially a Scareactor for HHN 2011

Confirmation email came today so I'll be scaring the crap out of everyone this year(:

I think Hostel falls into the "torture porn horror" category instead of extreme gore. It's what it is, so it should be labeled that way and it has a negative connotation to it but yeah, it's for a reason (because the genre SUCKS lmao)

And Steven, can ya elaborate on what you'll be doing this year? Maze or scarezone? Unnannounced maze? And if it's a scarezone, which section of the park?

2 for 2, you guys. Soon to be 3 for 3. Bleh.

I could see releasing HOTC next; we've gotten two brand-humping new mazes already, and since HOTC was a (reported) success, I think it would very likely to be next. Here's how I see it: first a new one, then another new one, then last year's favorite, and so on.

I'd rather hear about the HOH first before HOTC. I'm really hoping it's last. Actually, right now, I'm REALLY interested in the TT. The TT is Universal's main attraction so I would figure they'd try to hype that up as soon as possible.

And you know what, now thinking about it, the first PRs were always the most hyped things at the event.

2009 - Saw & Halloween

2010 - HOTC

If The Thing and Hostel are supposed to be the biggest things coming this year, I'm kinda concerned. As awesome as The Thing is, it's based on the prequel but if the original film is any indication, it'll make for an awesome maze. And Hostel is just a dud in my eyes, flat in the water. But there are 6 mazes this year so maybe it'll be three major hyped events. Oh God, I hope so...

Wouldn't House of 1000 Corpses fall under (Slasher) ?

Or would that be considered (Exploitation)

I wouldnt say slasher so much mayb a sub genera of slasher IDK I think theres a word for it, movies like the hills have eyes, wrong turn, house of wax, like that but I cant think of it.

makes sense to sandwhich it between new mazes 2 new, HOTC & HOH overlay, and then two new.

I can see it. The BIG new ones, last year's BIG one(s), and the smaller new ones. I'm no business man, but it sounds about right in terms of publicity.

With that said, I think it's pretty official that Scream isn't coming this year since that is the BIGGEST slasher of all time. I really don't know why they dropped the ball on this one.

Imma let you finnish, but Jason is the biggest slasher of all time!

That was pathetic, I know. Shut up. Now, I'm not a huge Scream fan (only saw the first), but I'm not sure I really would've cared for a Scream house.

Can't say I really know too many people who have seen it, let alone are huge fans. Ghostface himself is very recognizable, but not many seem able to connect him with Scream; some who can can't connect Scream with the film's story at all.

But if it was coming, I would indeed expect it as one of the first announced.

Perhaps Murdy/Uni were waiting for the numbers to come back on Scream 4 before investing. As it stands right now, Scream 4 is 20th on the all-time slasher list, just ahead of Urban Legend (and that's without factoring in inflation, yikes.) I actually enjoyed Scream 4 and thought it was a VAST improvement on 3, but man, looks like nobody even bothered to turn out.

Mr. Cleaver, I think DTH was talking about box office. Scream 1, 2, 3 are the top three slashers of all time, by a lot.

Yeah, I know. It was a joke that fell on it's face.

I'm almost wondering if my local dempgraphic is really that different than LA; in terms of slashers, most around here only know the 'Big 4' (JV, LF, FK, MM). I honestly didn't know Scream made that much. I don't think any one in CO would make a scream house, with the exception of using Ghostface himself somewhere in a different house.

Possible big news for this year's event from the Hostel PR:

"Eli Roth is the first star to be announced as a collaborator in this year's Halloween Horror Nights event and will be a key member of a Hollywood horror "dream team" assembled by Universal Studios Hollywood to create the ultimate "live" Halloween nightmare."

A dream team? Meaning there's MORE celebrity tie-ins to come? Is this possibly why Hostel wasn't named "Eli Roth's Hostel" because mostly ALL of the mazes will have someone attached to it? Who else is coming? Wes Craven? John Carpenter? Tobe Hooper? Sam Raimi? I hope it's not just Rob Zombie for the HOTC redo because that'd be disappointing.

... or Adam Green.

Buahahahahaha

Let's not go there again...

Stole my fucking joke, bro!

Pardon the language.

So does this mean the multiple themes Murdy mentioned is in fact a reference to this "scream team"? (Oh, yeah. I went there.)

On twitter Murdy said While you ponder that I have to go order some artificial trees for a maze that hasn't been released yet...be back soon. I am down to either Wolfman or Evil Dead... although something in my heart of hearts says Evil Dead!

You know, the hints could tie-in with both Evil Dead and Army of Darkness OR Wolfman. Sounds like he's going to announce Soap Opera which will make me VERY happy. I've been wanting to know that maze for a while. It sounds like he's going to announce Steven last.

As for the debate on whether Scream would be announced first, maybe Murdy is wanting to save the "headmaster" maze for "The final act". Just sayin'.
