Lol. I don't think Murdy does much by accident. Exhibit "A" above. Hollywood marketing vs Orlando. Men vs boys. Sad. Hollywood still gets a nice trickle of info, tweets etc from Murdy. Orlando gets a twitter account being run by a 12 yr old whose imagination doesn't go beyond trolling it's subscriber base with the same tweets over and over. Pathetic. I actually wonder if they didn't give the Orlando twitter to an executive's kid as a summer job or internship. Any who ,,, I would leave that as a gap,in the resume. i still think the event will be awesome thanks to creative, design, sound, actors etc. It's too bad they suck balls at marketing.8 points

Just a friendly reminder that on this day last year, we got our full reveal. This year, we have 3 houses announced so far.6 points

If Universal doesn't "owe us" anything until the end of August, why bother even having a marketing department? Isn't it their job to get all people from different locations (not just locals) to the event? Waiting until just a couple weeks before opening to announce stuff is not going to get that job done. I'm already in about $2,000 on a vacation that I don't know hardly anything about. This isn't whining, it's pointing out the fact that regardless of what they "used to do", it's really not cool to not know what I've spent my $ on at this point. Also, by them not giving us information it leaves me to believe that they themselves don't believe the lineup is strong enough to pull people from out of town so why bother releasing it. I know we have a theoretical list of houses already, but until it is announced officially I could care less what the list says.3 points

Saw is literally old news at this point. I don't think anyone gives a shit about it coming to HHN.2 points

I guess because nothing is official until it is official. Lack of announcements (when compared to previous years) indicate the possibility of issues. Issues this late tend to lead to crap houses (ahem...Purge). So...I guess it's more nerves than anything. At least from my end.2 points
-
If we know all the houses, why are we all complaining? Technically Universal doesn't owe us anything until the end of the month. At this point I just feel like everyone is whining.2 points
-
This is what happens when you have idiots in marketing. Mind you, this is also the same company who decided to remove a sacrifice show on the FIRST DAY because some pathetic people complained. Then they throw the politics into the park unnecessarily, too. Really turning me off Universal. Remember when the event was more adult? I 'member.2 points

Oh Ash vs Evil Dead will no question be the goryiest house this year, probably the goriest since body collectors or Roanoke It's ridiculous with it. That's where much of the humor comes from.2 points

I always thought this was the reason but when I did my Unmasking tour that year the tour guide said that they went with AVP because the right holders of Alien would've been far more strict with the property and that AVP was more flexible. Granted that could've been wrong information but that is what my guide said. But while we are discussing AVP I would love another round of either Alien/Predator/AVP becuase it is my horror sweet spot that I am a sucker for and will always bite.2 points

I was excited by it! I love the movie, and the various environments to the Overlook (The bedrooms, the long hallways, the ballroom, the kitchen, and definitely the hedge maze) would be perfect for a House!1 point
-
Hell, I think that announcement was largely a dud, too. I don't remember people being excited like other IPs in other years.1 point
-
Maybe, or it might be that, similar to the advance "Shining" announcement, the slugs in Marketing thought he might be revealing too much too soon. LOL! I remember the man- eating plant thing from that movie ("It grows much faster than bamboo...") scared me bad when I was a kid, but as an adult, I don't find it anywhere near as threatening.1 point

Agreed. The thought of Saw coming back makes me feel like Robin Williams in Jumanji basically just like "what year is it?"1 point
-
I realized today there are 2 (imo) very promising horror movies coming out in September, and while I know they both probably never would have made it here anyway (It & Mother)...I'm kinda bummed we're most likely getting Jigsaw :/1 point
-
Agreed but the fact Murdy deleted I think means he probably just didn't look at the photo properly. We don't need to stretch to see other reasons why Orlando's Marketing is bad.1 point
-
I am aware this is Orlando but Murdy from Hollywood accidentally confirmed that Saw: Legacy (Or Jigsaw) will be at the event.1 point
-
I'm more interested in the originals and scarezones, and we rarely get the whole picture correct on those. There are plenty of details that aren't out about them.1 point
-
We don't know the houses until Universal announces them. Things change from the rumors and the descriptions on the original houses are helpful as well. You can defend them if you feel the need to, but why say people are whining when it's a pretty valid concern? We like to talk about the announcements and get hyped up.1 point
-
^Understandable. Remember though, 25 didn't have the full reveal until 8/25. They had four houses announced before then and it sounds like we're getting the Jigsaw annoucement today or tomorrow. From what I've heard 25 was great. Can any insiders say whether they've had "issues" that haven't already been mentioned (Conjuring)?1 point

Good call. It calls to mind part of Peter Vincent's monologue near the end of the original 'Fright Night.' "Tonight, the threat comes not from beyond the grave, but from beyond the stars."1 point

Anyone else think it's ironic that DISNEY owns theme park rights to Alien? They tried venturing into the world of scary attractions with Alien Encounter, where they had the opportunity to utilize the Xenomorph but failed to do so. Just drop it and let someone else get a crack at it. Speaking of aliens, why have we not had a Sci-Fi outer space type year? The literal universe offers so much room for creativity and the scary, lonely feeling of being trapped in space. Interstellar Terror was a blast and I would prefer to see more of that.1 point

The reason they bring houses back isn't because they are lacking in ideas, it's in part to reach a new audience. I have not seen the Halloween house, or any thing house, as a huge carpenter fan it sucks because I haven't seen one of his films at the event. I loved that American werewolf in London was at 25 because it's a great film and I didn't get a chance to see it before that. I also agree that nothing they can do would get me to stop going and I'm honest about it. One idea I've had for a year is one where nothing is announced at all, on the map when you enter the park all of the houses are just numbered 1-9 with no description. You'd have to wait till your in the house to find out what you are about to see.1 point
-
LOL!! Sorry if I caused any NSFW issues, buit the huant idea seems amazing. I really hope they can pull it off to perfection!!1 point
-
Ah ok, well like I said I really wasn't sure. Just guessing, cause I thought any rights problems with Alien would've been a problem for AvP too. Rights stuff can be weird. Thanks for the correction.1 point

Another one we've seen recently. So, again, glad they don't go by this. I am going to this event until I am physically unable to do so. I see me hoofing it with my walker when I'm 90 years old. I'm just spoiled by the slow, but consistent reveals we were getting for several years. I also miss Aiello on Twitter. At least he'd snap some bts pics and tweet them out for freaks like us Even if we couldn't have reveals when we wanted, those teasers were almost as good. Now, we have neither, and we are stuck with a clearly incompetent marketing group who has no idea how to handle the social media. That is disappointing because I am one of those people who would watch and re-watch teaser / interview videos. Also, that epic fail of letting a month long countdown end up as a sweepstakes announcement deserves to be bitched about. That was just a crappy, stupid thing to do. Why even bother with a countdown?1 point

I'm curious about one thing though, with great movie ride closing at Disney, could that make it easier for Alien to come to the event soon?1 point

And its announcement video was cool. Chucky calling people "idiots...low lives" which is the adult angle the event should be going for. Sounds way more genuine than the bullshit "SOUL COLLECTORS" crap. And they're announcing, interacting with fans.1 point
