Murdy probably said "Yeah I know you are working on a sequel so let's do it then." You know, more environments and characters to work with without having to stretch the concept to far. ED was set up for 2013 way before 2012 now that I think about it. The reason Sony went to Knotts is because they wanted to do ED in 2012, but Murdy said they should wait for 2013.
