Halloween Horror Nights (Hollywood) 2013 Speculation/Predictions

Recommended Posts

Well there was the previous Robert Rodriguez spec (prompted by the hints about grindhouse movies) and he gave Danny his first starring role after doing character acting for however many years.

Maybe the entire El Cucuy maze is going to have a grindhouse feel to it? La Llorona had more of the creepy supernatural vibe, so in order to make it less same-y they switched up the tone? Maybe. I'm up for that.

Character actors usually specialize in playing eccentric or unusual people rather than leading roles. Would Danny Trejo fit that?

Danny Trejo is in ALOT of movies where he is an eccentric or unusual person and not the leading role. At least, thats what I think..

What you described is 99% of Danny Trejo's career. He's played a few dozen versions of "tough looking Mexican with tattoos" since the mid 80s. Most biographies call him a character actor. It's not certainly him by any means, but it matches up with other spec.

From Filmmakersdestination.com right or The Studio tour? Those websites help so much. Aha.

Pics were from Studio Tour but the website was down or dead, so I had to use cached copies . I agree though, if it were up and running it looks like it would be an excellent resource! Filmakersdestination - love the "virtual tours". :)

I was really hoping the celeb was Robert Rodriguez (cutie pie!), but I'll be uber happy if it is Danny Trejo , especially if it means our Grindhouse El Cucuy spec materializes! :)

But yeah, look up "prolific" in the dictionary, it's got a pic of Mr. Trejo (or may as well have)...

"Upon his release and after getting clean, a chance meeting on the set of 1985's "Runaway Train" launched his prolific acting career (201 credits and counting on IMDb), usually playing a tough criminal...." http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/danny-trejo-interview-machete-dvd/

"You may not know his name, but you certainly know his face. With his chiseled physique, long hair and handlebar mustache, Danny Trejo is one of the most recognizable character actors working today. (As well as one of the most prolific — he's appeared in nearly 200 films.)"

"He is one of the most prolific of American actors, having usually done at least 4 films a year since the 1990s. In 2002 alone, he did 9 films..." http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001803/bio
