After about a month or so of thinking about this past year's event, i've come to the conclusion i must edit my bottom 5:

1. The Spawning

2. Reflections of Shit

3. Zombiegeddon

4. THING: Assimilation

5. Welcome to Silent Hill

Top 5 Scarezones:

1. 7

2. Grown Evil (only comes second due to the ferocity of 7. The ambiance and atmosphere of this zone was perfect. Costume design was great as well. loved this zone)

3. Fractured Tales (didn't really pay much attention to zones until 2010, but i have some fond memories from this one)

4. Dark Legions of 2012

5. 20 Years of Fear

since i don't really remember any zones pre-2010, the only zones i can say i didn't like were Your Luck Has Run Out, Canyon of Dark Souls, and Zombie Gras.

I've only been attending since 2009, and this list took me hours to compile after lots of consideration, and strangely some of my favorites are the houses that seem to have caught a good deal of negativity. I guess I just had some really great trips through:

1. Silent Hill (I don't understand the hate this house got, but then again I've never played the game)

2. Catacombs

3. Gothic

4. Saws and Steam

5. Nevermore

6. Nightingales

7. Silver Screams

8. Dracula

9. Alice Cooper

10. Havoc

And bottom five:

5. Psychoscareapy: Echoes of Shadybrook

4. Hallow'd Past

3. The Wolfman (Only because I missed most of it by not looking, I have a horrible fear of anything wolf related)

2. Hades

1. Saw (My first ever house I went through at HHN...)

Since 15. Looking at all these old houses brings bad so many memories.

Ah man, that year had the best atmosphere and immersion! Body Collectors was outstanding, and I thought their other houses were good, too. Demon Cantina was much better than FDTD (from this year). Were you able to see it when Terra Guard Run had the tesla coils working?

By the way, you missed their best year - without question - by one year!

As an aside, it's so sad to me to see people praise the last few years while they've never been to the older events. They think IPs make this event, it doesn't, in my opinion, at all. Gah.

^Seriously. There are people out there that think 2012 as an amazing year ;)

I've been going since 2005. I posted my top 10 when I made the thread but it's been increasingly hard to label a top 10 list so I'm going to list my favorites over the past decade in no real order after the first 2, because they're bar none the greatest houses I've ever seen. the rest are organized by year, not preference.

1. Nightmare on Elm Street. Absolutely terrified me when I was 11. Will forever be #1 because I literally cannot be that horrified in a haunted house ever again.

2. An American Werewolf in London. If it weren't for my experience in NoES this would be #1. Absolutely impeccable house. They seriously nailed it.

Screamhouse 3

PsychoScarepy: Maximum Madness

People Under the Stairs: Under Construction

Dead Exposure

Scary Tales 3

Silver Screams

Chucky: Friends Till the End

Catacombs: Black Death Rising

Hades: Gates of Ruins

Orfanage: Ashes to Ashes

Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery

Nightingales: Blood Prey

Nevermore: The Madness of Poe

H.R. Bloodengutz: Holidays of Horror

Saws N Steam: Into the Machine

Gothic

Cabin in the Woods

Dollhouse of the Damned

Halloween

Giggles and Gore

It's gonna take a lot to beat 2011. Lol

Least Favorites:

Silent Hill (The epitome of shit. Absolutely despised the house. HUGE waste of potential, big, pointless rooms, fence maze in the beginning was horrible, overall just a really bad house.)

Reflections of Fear

The Spawning

Zombiegeddon

THING: Assimilation

Alice Cooper: Welcome to My Nightmare

The Walking Dead: Dead Inside

HAVOC: Derailed

Afterlife: Death's Vengeance

Probably the only 9 houses out of 85 that I've seen that I didn't like at all. Not a bad percentage lol

Yes. I was able to see it. And I couldn't agree more with you. IPs are totally awesome, but only for the fact that you are able to experience a movie, show, etc. in a real life experience. I would take an all original year over a year crammed with IPs any day. Original houses built the event and I will always have a special place in my heart for them. I was looking through old event pictures and it made me so emotional. Only the hard core fans would understand me, but I've grown up with this event and it is a huge part of my life.
