Recommended Posts

This is for discussion on the clues of our "Mutual Friend". As the clues are given, this posted will be updated.

Clue #1

In heaven, the three with whom I would talk? Eoin Colfer, Steve Jobs and Peter Falk.

Clue #2

One stands to lose their body's bounty, If they return to God's Own County.

Clue #3

The midnight hour does not deter me, I always count on Floyd and Nurmi.

Clue # 4

'Tis wise to avoid cemetaries by night, Lest one should encounter the dreaded blue light. [sic]

Clue #5

Había cuatro naves y se fue de España; Navegó por el sol, el viento y la lluvia. (There were four ships that left Spain, sailed by the sun, wind and rain.)

Tres barcos continuaron explorando, Pero, ¿qué pasó con el número cuatro? (Three ships continued to explore, But what about number four?)

Clue #6

Angels descend through the glimmering gloom, Lustful and greedy, they flit room to room.

Clue# 7

Yon cities of charm and themes of mortality,

Damned exquisite horrors of one's own reality!

Clue# 8

Lastly, and while one still retains your attention,

Unclouding one's view may be done through these specs,

Cull doubts for they've added another dimension

Keep playing her games 'spite the stacks of the decks.

no, definitely not.

Well, then you guys have fun with your silly little games. I'll come back when there's actually some SPECULATION on this page.

I know I hardly have any posts here, but this seems like the kind of garbage that the mods delete to "clean up the thread" and give a warning.

Maybe your little inside game has some info at the end of it, but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

If the owner of the website himself is telling you that it's not gibberish, then it obviously ain't garbage.

I won't remove this message because I'd like to respond to it.

1: It's not a "silly" game. 2: It IS part of speculation, take some time to look at it and research it. It just may give you some clues.

If we felt that it had no meaning what so ever, it would of been removed as you said. If you wish NOT to figure it out, continue to speculate on some of the other topics and let others figure this out.

Well, Steve Jobs had cancer for awhile, and we thought he was going to die, until his cancer went away. Peter Falk is dead and Eoin Colfer is still alive. I'm guessing they each have a connection with death. Everyone's fate is death, because eventually everyone has to die.

Trying to make something out of those three choices, but i'm drawing a blank here. Two are living, one dead. Three people you'd want to talk to make me think of the number three and the old verses about how there's 3 heavens and or 3 options after death (Paradise, Purgatory, Hell.) All three people are famous with in the art of making entertaining things..(books, movies, technology)

I've tried to see if there's any coralation between the characters, and I can't really piece anything together.

Probably way over-thinking it.

Ok, I moved this excerpt over from the Speculation II thread...

As for Falk, Colfer, and Jobs, here's some loose threads that I came up thanks to wikipedia. Some of it's almost too easy, and none of it fits together all too well, but, hey, that's speculation.

"Peter Falk was an American actor, best known for his role as Lieutenant Columbo in the television series Columbo. He appeared in numerous films such as The Princess Bride, The Great Race and Next, and television guest roles and was nominated for an Academy Award twice (for 1960's Murder, Inc. and 1961's Pocketful of Miracles)..."

"Murder, Inc. is a 1960 American gangster film starring Stuart Whitman, May Britt, Henry Morgan, Peter Falk, and Simon Oakland...The screenplay was based on the true story of Murder Inc., a Brooklyn gang that operated in the 1930s."

"Murder Inc. was the name given by the press to organized crime groups in the 1920s through the 1940s that resulted in hundreds of murders on behalf of the American Mafia and Jewish Mafia groups who together formed the early organized crime groups in New York and elsewhere. It was established after the formation of the commission of the National Crime Syndicate, to which it ultimately answered. Largely headed by former mob enforcers Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and Meyer Lansky..."

"Eoin Colfer is an Irish author. He is most famous as the author of the Artemis Fowl series, but he has also written other successful books."

"Artemis Fowl II is an Irish child prodigy and a ruthless master criminal. He uses his intelligence to building his family fortune through crime."

"Steve Jobs is also a Beatles fan. He has referenced them on more than one occasion at Keynotes and also was interviewed on a showing of a Paul McCartney concert. When asked about his business model on 60 Minutes, he replied, 'My model for business is The Beatles: They were four guys that kept each other's negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts. Great things in business are not done by one person, they are done by a team of people.'"

The Jobs one is a stretch, I know. All I can come up with is organized crime as a shared insinuation though.

If any of this is pertinent, then this riddle is more long-winded than I am. lol

OK just doing some research...

Eoin Colfer - wrote some fantasy books. Charles came up with "The Arctic Incident". The Thing has been widely speculated this year and could be a clue to that...

Peter Falk was in a lot of movies. He was in a casino movie (Machine Gun McCain)... but he's been in detective shows. Dr. Jimmy noted Wings of Desire.

An angel tires of overseeing human activity and wishes to become human when he falls in love with a mortal.

Steve Jobs.. The only thing I can think of would be apple. As in a literary reference to apples... like snow white or something.

The Thing is Antarctica. Similar... but very different.

True.... It was my first thought. He is also from Ireland if that means anything. I know we have runes...

I think the mutual friend in the title of this thread could be referring to Death. Falks has met him, Jobs came close to meeting him cuz he had cancer, and even though Colfer is quite healthy at the moment he will eventually meet Death one day. Thus, Death is a mutual friend to all 3.
