I think it's pretty much confirmed the full site update will be on September 1st. Universal put it on their Facebook page. ;)

They wrote that on the Facebook page that 118,984+ people "like". I wouldn't be surprised if the site is "fully updated" before then to work out bugs, errors, crashes, etc..

The last few years Universal has been really good about doing the full-site reveal exactly when they said they would. It will be fully updated, for all of us to see, when it was announced.

New ifo from the permits (Thanks to HHNRumors for finding it). It doesn't tell us anything new but it confirms alot:

Disaster! queue

"NEED FLAME SPREAD INFO ON EASTER BASKET ROOM MATERIALS AND HAY IN ROOM JUST BEFORE EASTER ROOM"

'

Jaws queue

"EFFECT WATER HOSE ON GROUND NEEDS TO BE COVERED, MOVED OR SECURED SO THAT IT IS NOT A TRIPPING HAZARD, NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT SPECIAL EFFECTS DEVICE IS LOCATED IN SAW BLADE ROOM OR ELSE ANOTHER EXIT SIGN NEEDED - STILL NEED TO TEST FIRE ALARM/EM. LIGHTS OPERATION"

With all that has been shown and speculated, I still think we're going to see an icon character (with its icon house) this year, if not, it would be a terrible failure.

About the icon, since the first press release, UO was throwing a capitalized name "Luck" everywhere, implying this will be the icon.

The haven't built a back story YET, but they keep sending letters about "Luck" with scratches and dried blood splatters on them,

they also posted some videos about knives noises and a rabbit's foot being mutilated, that we can easily relate to the mutilated hand we've seen from the beginning.

Then, there's the crypt house, which is the only house that we don't really know that much about.

They throw a name "Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne", implying some connection between the cemetery/crypts and this woman, we also know its setting in the XIX century.

We don't know anything else about her. Coincidence? I don't think so.

I don't think they're just going to slip the name "Luck" everywhere for any reason, and I really don't think they are creating this new character (Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne), with all the setting (and presumably a back story), and a game focusing on her, if it doesn't have any connection with the icon.

Maybe we won't have a casino house, or maybe not in the way we were expecting it, but there will be an icon house, or a "main house",

and if not our "house of cards" on the website would be a waste of time. The facade on the SS22 sketch, reminds me of the house of cards, maybe that's our icon house.

What we know for sure is that they need a face for marketing purpose, and I don't think they're gonna pull some rabbit out of the hat the last month before the event.

I'm sure we'll know more about this house, and Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne, and we'll understand her connection with Lady Luck.

They have to wrap things up, and this is the month to do so. We just have to wait and connect the dots.

Hmm. I'm really enjoying the setup we're getting so far. I'm hoping that we'll get more of a unified story. I understand that at this point it's not going to be easy to make a very in depth story, but of course having a good one in general shouldn't be too hard. This setup is nice...the games are annoying, but The House is very intriguing.

Though I'd like to add...keep in mind that HOS this year is doing away with a mascot, and we already have one very huge similarity with their event so far, being the Poe house. I still can't believe that that rumor came true! But that's the glory of these websites. Hell, even Jimmy's completely unintended helicopter rumor seems to be coming true. Awesome stuff.

I make no denial that Luck is the "face" of the commercial this year, but there is no casino house. Period. That's not even a question of speculation. If the Cemetery is the icon house, Lady Luck as we will see her will be extremely out of place. Luck, so far, is not a ghost, and not Victorian. In fact, nothing else on the website matches the vibe of the our Cemetery "Ghost" house at all. Nineteen-twenties, American speakeasy vibe does not jive with the Victorian-English, snow-covered cemetery vibe. Connecting them is a massive stretch.

It's not unheard of for a house to have an elaborate, self-contained story that has nothing to do with the event as a whole. They did it with the Wyandot Estate last year. It was so separate from the event (and had such an elaborate story to itself) they split off Legendary Truth into two factions. So to say "We have a character's name already, that has to be Lady Luck," is extremely presumptuous. She will be seen in the park. In fact, she may even be seen indoors and you may have to wait in line.

But nothing, so far, implies that Luck is getting any sort of "backstory." She doesn't have a house, and likely won't be tied to one. She'll be marketed strictly as "Luck," because sometimes that's all it simply boils down to.

That would mean that there won't be an icon house this year, so what's the point of the house of cards on the website?

If they're creating this character "Luck" just to be into a scarezone and for marketing purpose, she'd be the same as "Fear",

and as I said before, more than disappointing, to me this would be a failure.

On the other hand, they could use the notion of "Luck" and "Chance" on every house (like the red button picture), and don't use it as a character,

but again, what would happen to all the 1920's atmosphere they created? or who will be the event's marketing face?

I think connecting the cemetary to the personification of luck could be easy. If this is a personification of Luck, then couldn't she change her apperance to fit whatever time period she appears in? Or she could have been this Lady Hawthorne, who had great luck until it ran out and she died/was murdered then became Lady Luck who, now immortal, would have to change her appearance to match whatever decade/era she's in. Not that I'm implying that's what Universal is doing, just playing devil's advocate.

We don't know what the point of the house of cards on the site is, but so far it looks like the cemetery will take place mostly outside and in crypts. The game takes place outside. The facade (which we have seen a sketch for) is a massive gateway into what is titled a "courtyard" (from the "gate" sketch Hal provided). If the house isn't the facade of the cemetery, then it likely won't be in the cemetery.

The simple fact that the marketing this year, to include the giant roulette wheel we have seen glimpses of, the supposed description of Luck, the "speakeasy" vibe, doesn't match the cemetery, the ghost/blue light clue, or the suspected era of that house should be enough evidence that our icon is not getting a house.

I'll admit, I thought the house of cards would tie to the cemetery, but it isn't. I wish I knew what it means, but maybe it collapses on the last game (which would just be the worse luck). Maybe the cards release Luck into the park, but it's all virtual. Or maybe, just maybe, it's just something to do. Like finding the totems last year which didn't mean a thing.

Sure, it would "be easy," to tie the cemetery to luck. But I doubt they are. They aren't telling that story; not yet, at least. But with all the "ghost" aspects of the cemetery and the game, I have a feeling Lady Hawthorn is strickly that; a ghost. Luck will be a bit more realistic than that, I'm sure. Universal has never really done, "aggressive" ghost houses in the past. There's always a more ethereal quality to them. They're effect heavy and deliberately paced. Luck has none of that. She's not a ghost. She's a monster.

I'm not expecting Luck on the billboard. Howl-o-Scream already has a screaming female for a billboard, and a seductive female with the tagline, "Are You In?" may not go over too well. I'm not expecting her in a house. We don't have a casino, or a house of cards. She may have a show. Maybe. She'll be associated with a zone, but not an immediately considered one. I think she'll just be a photo-op. No story. No true pressence. Strictly a shill.

The one thing that makes me wonder about the House in SS 22 and it's possible, if unlikely connection to Lady Luck is the music cue that plays over the headstone of Lady Elizabeth Hawthorn.

it is titled 'My Real Name'. hmmmmmmmm.

I think the pic might be from the Columbus house or Crypt. Crypt would be the obvious choice. On a side not way off topic I just felt an earthquake here in Pa. Wow.

This picture has really baffled me; I can't think of a house that would suit silver skeletons, but I'm thinking it may be the Columbus house.

... I also live in Pennsylvania, and I too felt the earthquake.

Just as we entered in through Mary's mirror or the Universal Palace theater, might we do the same and enter through a casino or "house"? Thereby making the mazes individual gambits for our lives, and giving Lady Luck a playing field. If nothing else, I'd enjoy seeing a dramatic entrance after last year's kinda blah affair.

Just throwing this out there but what if ss22 really isnt a cemetery. yeah we have a game that shows a cemetery with Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne's tombstone but if the house of cards may link to that soundstage, perhaps the house of cards IS ss22 and its about the death of Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne... who may be Lady Luck.

This may be irrelevant, someone earlier on this thread posted a search on google about Elizabeth and a book in amazon mentioned that Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne became a widow because her husband was murdered. There are multiple roles in ss22 that are "widow".

http://www.amazon.com/review/RG7QPUT78ZVJE/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#RG7QPUT78ZVJE

"Elizabeth Hawthorne was in love with Marcus Ashford. They were to be married and she thought life couldn't be any better. Little did Elizabeth know her world was about to fall apart. When fate presses her to seek out her fiancé for help late one night, she discovers him with another. Heartbroken she leaves Marcus, jilting him to marry Lord Hawthorne, a man who offered less risk to a tender heart. While she never loved her husband as she did Marcus, she felt it was a safe life, one she could be content with.

Now fate once more compels her to Marcus' sphere. Her husband is killed, leaving her in deep mourning. As she returns to the functions of the world, she receives a strange journal, which had been written by her husband. It's hard to make heads or tails; the writings are in code. Only someone out there can read it and is willing to stop at nothing to get his hands on it. "

I think that is a romance novel, but it is a coincidence.

Hard evidence we have that it's a Cemetery and not a house: The game (which has no visual clues to a house). The clue from our Mutual Friend (which does not mention a building other than the graveyard). Two pieces of drafting art, a gate (titled Facade) and the portcullis for the same gate (titled Courtyard).

Hard evidence we have that SS22 is the House of cards:

Circumstantial evidence that SS22 is related to Luck: It's the only name we can read on the website.

Notes - The tombstone reads, "Hawthorn" without the "E." That's intentional. We can't automatically relate what's on Amazon because the spelling is different.

The Gate Facade is 21 feet tall (it's says, right on it on the art they released). That is about the same height of the Shadybrook facade from last year. They won't build a forty foot building behind it when that gate will be impressive enough.

Luck is not referenced anywhere on the site so far.

That is a good point doc! Why didn't I make that connection?

I really think that is a simple overlay image over top of the same picture desaturated. That or one of those Hipsta phone images... I don't think the skeletons are silver.
