Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood 2015 Event Discussion

Yeah, seems like they went out of their way to try and piss people off.

I guess to be a VIP this year, you literally have to be a VIP and be escorted by Murdy himself.

Pretty incredible backlash on social media.  My fear is that FOL will now see wait times similar to Orlando's Express.  Not terrible, but definitely a longer wait.

This is extremely disappointing, and I'm starting to think FOL passes are going to be even more horrible than last year (Which still had a wait time with them). When I first started going, we instantly got on with them, but last year we still had a 30-40 minute wait on some mazes. And now VIP is gone, that makes me really sad.

honestly if you do early entry and plan it out right you'll hit everything... but I'm starting to wonder how much money they spent on Jabawokeez I could not put my thumb on it earlier but it seems like this year's event has a big chunk of the budget missing. I mean we lost a maze, a scarezone, and VIP and the only thing we "Gained" is Jaba-f'cken-Wokeez.

Yeah, my friend and I usually do early entry, and we get on to each maze at least once through the night. However, that allowed us to use our FOL passes to go on to the mazes quickly a 2nd time through the night. I will admit, even as a dancer myself, I feel like the Jabawokeez thing is not that appealing myself, and I'd rather they have all that money to go toward other stuff. But who knows, we didn't get to see the budget so it's not really easy to say where it all went. But I do agree that the new show probably gave them a huge hit.

true, one of my favorite parts of B&T was the final dance number and the opening but I can't get into this. But my thinking is they left Vegas to do an hourly show every night of the event... if I was them I would not leave Vegas unless I was being paid more.

Would you recommend going on Oct 1 (Thrus) or Oct 4 (Sun) I want the lowest wait times possible

From my knowledge every knight last year was crowded. Friday and Saturdays tended to be busier regardless of when they were but I think Thursday or Sunday would be your best bet. Even Halloween is usually light crowd wise

Well I mean, how much would VIP cost to run? Catering, a room, and a few tour guides, they don't HAVE to have cool experiences like Insidious that one year. If anything, wouldn't they want VIP to get more revenue? It seems like the decision had to do with something else other than budget.
Perhaps a lot of the decisions have to do with Potter coming next year and all their money is being eaten up by that. Just a guess.
I'm SERIOUSLY surprised by a lot of the decisions this year though. Like, no F+F? No VIP? No lower lot scare zone (which always sucked, but still)? No seventh maze? Multiple returning themes? This Is The End?!
Maybe the person who leaked the list knew of all the atrocities to come and had a vendetta on HHN this year!

In all honesty, with how crowded its become over the last 3 years, from what I can tell is that all nights will be somewhat similar. However, I would say Thursdays have a lower headcount. Not entirely sure why, but probably because Sunday is still a weekend day. Like said previously though, just try to get there early, use early entry, and plan out the night well and you should realistically be able to hit everything way before the 2 AM close time. Terror tram might be a hassle to get on, but again if you plan ahead you should be fine.

Plot twist: Murdy disliked the direction it was going in, and leaked it himself. Who am I kidding, that'd only be something in the movies or Scooby Doo!

But in all seriousness, I think after they realized how easy it was to get money with certain IPs (TWD I'm looking at you), they started hitting the point where they see how little they can get away with and still turn a profit. I mean it's typical business practice nowadays. It just bums me out that it's starting to finally happen, and was one of the things I was hoping would not happen. It's not even that this event is a niche thing anymore, it's very mainstream. But, we'll see, maybe this year will still be another fun one.

IDK then again sometimes I get the feeling that the only thing this year Murdy was really excited about a few things.

I heard that a lot of the normal HHN budget was instead spent on Wizarding World of Harry Potter
