Halloween Horror Nights 24 Speculation

Recommended Posts

Because I'm bored and I want something to solve.

Here's a list of Atari 2600 games that have signature sounds (at least a list of ones I remember sounds from)

Pitfall

Qix

Q-bert

Adventure

Pong

Breakout

Yar's Revenge

I'll update this as I remember portions of my childhood.

virtually all Atari 2600 games had signature music. It is hard not to make your music signature when it has the same four beats on a loop because of limited memory.

But we aren't looking for music. We are looking for a sound effect. Here's the hint:

@HorrorNights: Hint #2, you're looking for a signature sound effect associated with this title Not even sure if it was in the Atari game version...

So...

Qix - the sound of the fuse

Qbert - the sound made when he moves from cube to cube

Pitfall - the sound you hear when you swing on the vine.

So, I'm trying to think of sounds I would associate with a specific game. I played Atari while growing up. I just haven't played any of the games in about 18 yrs. I wonder if I still have the games and console...

Here's something to mull over...

Last year there was a crow in every house. We were told to pay attention to those and they were pointed out in each house. That is a classic A&D method of clues... Or just an in joke. What do you think it means?

Also,

Were the ATARI comments even directed at Orlando? I haven't checked but has he mentioned any cross properties yet? I know that Mike is working witht them so I would hedge a guess one IP will be shared but that leaves a lot of clues that still don't relate to us.

There's a flaw in that logic...he said the signature sound effect may not be in the game. This implies that there is a signature sound effect in the movie that does not appear in the videogame. The other issue is, he says he is "not sure if it was in the Atari version" which means it could be and all the research and eliminating we do could be for naught.

Nothing has been really even implied as a cross-property yet. It's all supposition.

Which is why I keep coming back to this clue from Dr. Jimmy.

I examined this hint a few days ago but I am circling back around to it because of a few new thoughts (there will be some existing thoughts present).

To me Jimmy's quote seems to be implying that it is not an actual sci-fi alien but more of a foreign entity alien.

His reference to beauty is only skin deep seems like a red herring to force us to connect Hollywood and Orlando when what I interpret it as is a reference to a non-corporeal being (i.e. a ghost).

The Strengoit see blood as the life force but Jimmy's clue implies that they are wrong and there is another life force. I would assume that is the soul, which further backs up the ghost theory.

This brings up one thing that may deny all Alien speculation and one thing that furthers my talk of ghosts.

Since Alien is in The Great Movie ride I have to imagine that Disney holds the themepark rights to the Alien creature/movie. Given that Universal holds the themepark rights to Marvel in Florida and is blocking Disney from making Marvel attractions, I have to imagine that Disney would do the same to Uni over an Alien house.

The idea that Jimmy could be referring to other works by these people further opens the door and Dr. John Overwatch may just be on the right track by suggesting Poltergeist. It would line up with my theory of ghosts and Geiger counters are fairly common in ghost hunting so to think the team in the movie would have one would not be absurd.

Earlier I made a case for Ghostbusters, but Poltergeist does seem like just as real of a possibility if we are connecting the people or movies mentioned in Dr. Jimmy's hint.

No real idea. Other than "the crow" which I wouldn't really say is a horror movie, and Alfred Hitchcock's birds, which is highly unlikely, I can only relate this to one thing.

Poltergeist only had one "character" to die, a bird in a cage.

I don't know if they had a pet crow or something since I haven't watched the movie in nearly 10 years, so... I can't really think of what crows could relate to.

EDIT:

UHH... GUYS, HOLY SHIT WITH THIS ONE:

"On top of the master bedroom television set sits an Atari Video Computer System console with its two joysticks; later known as the Atari 2600."

Well. I know nothing about this movie but its recent and got... Good ratings(?)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2070897/

WRATH+OF+THE+CROWS+-+v1+-+Silver+Ferox+D

Then again, watching the trailer this seems like something that's

1. A porn

2. Wouldn't...

Fly?

One of the actress's wikipedia pages does say something about Fangoria revealing a horror nights house at one point, so maybe there's some sort of connection here.

Took a stab at Ding dong being a reference to Wizard of Oz. It led me to a few things.

Mila Kunis was in Oz:The Great and Powerful. She was in a TV movie called Piranha. Alexandre Aja directed the Piranha remake, but also did The Hills Have Eyes. Could be a link to Wes Craven. Possibly the Scream franchise. Rebecca Gayheart was also in Scream 2, she was The Noxema Girl as well.

Gayheart also led me to From Dusk Til Dawn. She was in the 3rd film. Interesting, considering there is now a new TV series out for From Dusk Til Dawn.

I should have posted both tweets regarding the hint.

@HorrorNights: Already released one hint today for Maze #4, codenamed "Atari 2600" you're looking for a title that was released on this game platform...

@HorrorNights: Hint #2, you're looking for a signature sound effect associated with this titleNot even sure if it was in the Atari game version...

"This title" refers to the title or name of the game. We are looking for a signature sound effect that is associated with a game.

The fact that the Atari version may not have the sound actually narrows down the title to the game. Other platforms have had this game.

I have no idea if Atari 2600 is going to relate to Orlando, but since others were discussing it in this thread, I decided to list games that I associate certain sounds with (my first game system was the Atari 2600). I just want something to figure out!

As for crows, did they specifically refer to them as crows? Or could the be ravens?

Things that come to mind from crows:

A Song of Ice and Fire - members of the Night's Watch are called craws. The Night's Watch fights against the wildings, wights (reanimated corpses/voodoo style zombiis), and White Walkers (the Others).

A murder of crows = a flock of crows

In The Crow, a crow carries the spirit/soul of the deceased.

I kind of have an idea for Pitfall

The sound you hear when you swing on the vine is pretty much the tarzan yell

http://youtu.be/MhXMYw1lXY0?t=16s

The Tarzan yell could be associated with this very famous scene from Predator

Im still not very sure about it. It's a very direct connection, Murdy's cues tend to circle around alot but its worth a shot.

I shall research crow symbology!!!

I vaguely remember Alien games. The heartbeat is the sound I remember the most.

I have decided the least likely games (non-horror) are more likely to apply.

It seems more Murdy to have a non-horror game point toward horror.

I'm trying to determine a horror movie that has either gameplay or similar sound effects.

For some reason Qix and Q-bert keep coming back to me.

Q-bert was huge (they made an animated series of him!), and that sound of him jumping from cube to cube, you wouldn't need to see the game to know what game was being played.

For Qix, I always got an electricity vibe from the fuse sound. When I hear/heard it, it may me think of electrical sparks. Any property with electricity playing a role could link to it. As long as Mr. Murdy got the same impression from the sound.

Yes!

Krull is fantasy with some horror type imagery (The widow of the web scene was frightening, but I dislike spiders so that may be me). Similar to The Dark Crystal being fantasy with some frightening imagery. (The Skeksis still freak me out!)

But Krull is fantasy not horror.

Sorry for double post! Blame Murdy for late night tweets. (I'm mobile could someone put the tweets in quotes for me?)

@HorrorNights: Here's some insight into the production process for HHN...1 of the toughest things is trying to figure out if we can pull off a property...

@HorrorNights: ... I've already said that this year we have a lot of very complicated mazes, which makes the process even harder to "guesstimate"...

@HorrorNights: What makes it tricky is we have to commit to a property before we know if we can afford it. Like buying a house before you know the price...

@HorrorNights: ...To truly know the cost of something you have to have everything fully designed and bid and that usually happens months later...

@HorrorNights: ... So over the years Chris and I have gotten really good at doing WAGs, which stands for "wild ass guess." We had to do that for maze #3...

@HorrorNights: ...The good news is we got some key numbers back today and we were spot on with our WAG. We can do everything we wanted to do in the maze!

@HorrorNights: ...that's good news for you because this maze is going to blow your mind! If I wasn't psyched before now I'm super psyched!

I can has Alien spec back now?

Which one has the biggest budget? Just for the future reference of all of us.

Hmmm....let's see. I'm going to lean more towards the event that has had 24 years of experience, EIGHT houses, TWO shows, and six larger venues with elaborate sets.
