  1. The tickets are definitely reasonably priced, especially compared to our event here in Hollywood. Our employee discount ticket with front of the line ranges between $130 and $180 PER NIGHT. It's ridiculous. I bought the pass for Orlando so I can attend Thursday - Sunday this upcoming week with FOL for $220. If I lived in Orlando, I'd be able to attend even more nights with the pass I bought. It's a fantastic deal. I could've paid $100 or so for the regular multi-night pass without front of line but I SAVED my money and splurged in order to not wait in line during my vacation. I get paid $11.25 an hour. I'm not rich, I just worked a lot and saved up in order to fly out to Orlando, pay for the hotel, and get my HHN tickets. Keep in mind I'm 21. Also, I don't think this forum or any of its members think it's wrong to express your thoughts on the event, even if some thoughts are negative. The event isn't perfect. I just think people get frustrated by those that have nothing nice to say, and continue to trash the event saying it's not worth attending. Why even post in an HHN forum if it's not worth attending? If it's not worth attending , I don't think it'd be worth posting about but that's just my logic... This isn't directed to you Critical. I'll admit at times I would get frustrated reading your comments about how the event isn't what it used to be, but lately you've seemed reasonable when discussing the event and you've even commended the strong points of this years event. It's totally cool not to like everything the event has to offer, and it's great to see so many people that are passionate about this event on one website. I enjoy talking to all of you, so I'll finish rambling now. Lol

  2. I went down to hhn 25 the second weekend it was open. I thought it was honestly the best event so far. I went through all 9 houses both nights and saw the carnival of carnage show as Well. I also took an unmasking the fear tour as well. I will rate each house out of 10. I was staying at the royal Pacific hotel so I didn't have to wait but 5 minutes to get into the event at 630 since I used the onsite hotel guest entrance. A note first about express passes. I bought a rush of fear with express ticket. It was only 220 bucks and gets you into the event for the first 3 weeks and also gives you an express pass for those nights. It's a pretty good deal and I only waited in the express line but 10 minutes at most and that was later in the night. People complaining about going to the event and not buying one and seeing express pass people going ahead of them.......really? That is the privilidge of having an express pass, why should we wait in line more if we paid more. This is how capitalism works. There is no way in hell I'd wait in line for 75 minutes if I don't have to. Also this isn't universal treating non express holders bad it is just people who paid to not wait getting what they paid for. Not a hard concept to understand. HOUSES The Walking Dead- 8/10 I like the show and I've been going to the event since 2012 and even though the house wasn't as big as last years there was still a lot of stuff in here. Nice scares and the walkers were more aggressive than normal. I have been reading a lot of flack about the hot tub thing and here's the deal. It gets cold in the later part if the month and in order to keep The actors safe and keep the appearance of the illusion they need to use a hot tub or else they will probably get hypothermia. Also I know some idiot in there will complain if they got water on them in that area so they probably held back a bit in that area. Overall it had a lot if good scares and memorable scenes from the show. Another note, The walking dead brings a lot of money from people who don't really know about the event. The event wouldn't be here if they thought it wouldn't make money, it's not a fanboy only event, they have to cater to the general public. I recently watched a YouTube video where some kids were waiting in line and saw Michael roddy and Greg nikotero (executive producer for the walking dead) the kids waved at him and he waved back and they quickly yelled "Don't bring back walking dead." I was honestly angry and embaressed for them that They could be so rude and tasteless to a true professional in the business. Fan boys really ruin the event with a lot of unwarranted complaints about something they know nothing about. It takes a lot of work and effort to pull this event together and for mike and the gang to read some of the stuff they read or hear it must be infurriating. I think a lot of people have been spoiled by this event and don't know what a 5 or 3 out of 10 house or haunt really is. Just saying cut everyone some slack. THEPURGE-7\10 Even though it was supposed to be a scream house I enjoyed the actor at the beginning taunting everyone. Also the scares were good as Well with chainsaws and some unexpected gun blasts. They even had anti PURGE rebels in there as well which was cool. People give universal a lot of flack for this house. You probably have no idea how hard it is to throw something togeather at the last minute on top of getting everything else in this massive event ready. Just be thankfull they didn't scrap a whole house and gave us this since the PURGE scarezone last year was pretty good. INSIDIOUS-9/10 I am a fan of the series and was excited that Orlando got this house finally. The mood was great and scares were top notch as well. The facade outside was great as well. Many characters in this house as well as scenes from the movies. RUN-7/10 I liked the 80s music and the facade was great as well. The actors were good and the varied rooms and kills were nice. A lot of unexpected scares as well. Very in your face scares. BODY COLLECTORS 10/10 This house was amazing. The lighting the facade and mood were great. The scares were very subtle and ramped up as the house went on. Very awesome and truly paid homage to both houses and explained the origins of shadybrook and the body collectors as well. FREDDY VS JASON 10/10 Great facades and sets. Has scenes from all the movies and the scares start as soon as you go in. The Jason's were huge and Freddie were great as well. The movie screens were a nice distraction from scares around the corner. Super cool famous Freddy kill scenes in the actual Freddy house. AWIL 9/10 My only complaint was I thought it was a bit too dark other than that great house and the extra wolf was nice. The wolves this time were huge and looked nastier and evilbas well. The wolves motions were awesome and a nice upgrade. MONSTERS AND MAYHEM- 10/10 Aweomse house and has best of moments from all 25 years as well as classic monsters. This house has it all, the Jack's even had their wigs on so no need to worry about that. Super cool sets and had nightengales which was cool. ASYLUM IN WINDERLAND- 7/10 Really disorienting and fun house, cool comic facade and had some nice scenes. The funny house this year. SCAREZONES SCREAMPUNK 7/10 Although they didn't look that much like steampunk it was still good and had some good scares and photo ops. ICONS 10/10 Had icons and icon minions. Cool death scenes and another great photo op area. ALL NIGHT DIE IN 10/10 Cool drive in facade. Had black and white and color monsters. Very nice scares and photo op area. PSYCHOSCAREPY 10/10 Cool sets and nice little scenes. I liked the exploding gazebo and the actors were great as well, including the blue window up in one If the new York apartments where a guy pulls a girls wig off. CARNICAL OF CARNAGE 10/10 Awesome show, had the laughs and the gory deaths and the actors we're great as well. Don't miss this show. I loved that it wasn't for kids and had foul language and adult jokes. Unmasking the fear Super cool except for the annoying fanboy family. The tour was supposed to be maybe 2 hours and lasted 3 due to these two kids chiming in on Everything and interrupting the tour guide to the point which she had to tell them to save all questions until the end. Afterwards she apologized to me and my gf since those two punks shoved her out of the way to see something and generally ruined the experience. Other than that it was fine, we saw body collectors Freddy vr Jason ans the 25 years house. Over all the event was 9/10.

  3. Wow! Never seen a review invoke such a range of emotions. I think the responses are just a testament to just how passionate of fans we are to the event. If we're posting on here (HNN) it's because we want to share our experiences (both positive and negative) and also hear other's perspectives. That in turn opens discussion. JDW - I know you've been attending HHN since the beginning and that's why I always enjoy hearing your take and perspective. You, Legacy and Doc have seen what the event started as, what it was, what it's become and can see where it's heading. I know you were getting disenfranchised during the burned speculation period and wanted to step back. At the time, I mentioned that I understood and hoped you'd take a breather and then come back...and you did. I'm hoping you can do that again. My take lately is that the event is expensive and last year was my first express year after 10 without. Did it again this year. Mainly it's because I hate lines, in general, anywhere. I do think the Fla resident FFP w/express is a great deal, but it is expensive to me. Even budgeting it. And I'm not an AP holder so I'm also hit up for parking every night I go and then for any F&B. It adds up. So with that, yes, I'll always have high expectations for the event. But I mainly go just to have fun. It's a great escape to know during the week on multiple nights I can head over for a bit and unwind after work. I've tried to temper my expectations. Having done a FFP for going on 6-7 years now, I also think I've become desensitized to the event some and I try to stay open minded as a result. It's easy to see what I used to like no longer being done and get pissed about it. And I hate saying "it is what it is," but that pretty much sums it up. But I also won't stop expecting bigger and better. And I worry that up-charge houses will be the next wave. HHN is and has been in a Bull Market right now, but everything's cyclical and a Bear awaits in the not too distant future. To close, I don't think anything in the review here was aimed at anyone, it was just a review. If people need to take some time away from the board, please do, but only if that will cement your future return.

  4. No offense but if the shoe fits. This wasn't directed at anyone in particular, just gets old hearing people complain that people who pay more get preferential treatment. That's what you are paying for. It isn't anything personal on the parks part, it's just how business works. Especially when I go through the line and hear an unwarranted lecture from someone in the regular line complaining about waiting when they don't have to. Also this event is here for only 1 month out of the year. There are a whole 11 months to put aside 10 or 20 dollars out of every paycheck to go to this if you budget for it. I never said I was better than anyone, you are projecting your own personal bias into what I wrote. The event isn't a small time thing any more like it was back in the day, it's a major competitor with other major parks and haunt attractions as well now. The park is going to get crowded and it will get busy. do the big houses first and then everything else if you don't want to buy an express pass then. Well that's what great about the free market, if you don't like what someone offers you can go elsewhere. HHN isn't catered to the elite, it just has options to wait or not wait. I've spoken with a few employees and a lot of insiders aren't fans of the uber fanboys complaining about any and everything. Especially when they are downright rude to them and or their working partners. I'm not a fan of people being rude in general, especially when I know these guys work hard and put their all into the event. I remember in 2013 when a former Artist left the company and posted on the actual HHN facebook page for orlando getting onto people about the complaints when they have no idea how the business works or how things go internally.

  5. Wow you're b Wow you're being kind of a jerk towards people who buy express. The event IS accessible for everyone who pays to come in. They aren't saying "no you can't go into that house unless you pay $$" You get to experience the same exact things as the next person, it's just a matter of how fast you experience it. If not buying express ruins your night, you should definitely budget for it. Not everyone who pays for that is rich or elite, they just save up all year round so they can partake in it. Even just taking 5 dollars a week and putting it aside will give you enough to buy a full price non discounted ticket + express and money left over for food/merch. I've never bought express or anything and I'm fine without it. I understand it's a perk to pay for and I'm not entitled to a useful feature without shelling out a little extra money. Just like I shouldn't be entitled to a VIP tour unless I shell out extra money for it. I get to see the houses just like anyone else who comes to the park, express or not. I just have to patiently wait my turn. You can be poor as dirt living minimum wage and still have the desire to save up (or even splurge and make up for it working overtime) for express because you wanted to. Stop condescending people who choose to spend money on something to make things go a little bit faster/easier acting as if they are rich or elite because that may not be true at all. It's highly rude and distasteful towards people who try to make the most they can out of this event. I find it incredibly disparaging towards those who choose use it. If you want to call HHN a rich folk event, by all means I guess. But it's far from true. I don't know anyone who is rich that goes. They just save up or find discounts where they can. Sure there's rich people but lumping all together? Yeah no.

  7. Backstory: I have been attending this event since 2004. Though I've not been around since its inception I certainly have seen some magnificent work and lived through the creative controversies of recent years. Therefore, and please pardon any unintentional arrogance, my experiences enable me to speak quite confidently on how the event is. What allowed the event to explode is not because it is Universal. It is not because it was a haunted attraction. It's because they had a carefully calibrated concoction which delivered cinematic experiences others could not. Unfortunately, as competition increasingly creates detailed haunts those behind the event need to ensure they keep delivering the consistent formula that works. Because I am a self-proclaimed critical analyzer, I hope what is contained herein permits those who read it to question their own views and to work against an echo-chamber of support that is dangerous for the event. It's merely out of love, I want to see the formula permeate everywhere in the event. Halloween Horror Nights 25: My critical, disjointed review. Overall: The event gets an overall 7/10. I do NOT think the houses were as good as they could've been. I do NOT think the scarezones were as good as they could've been. But that said the event was "good." There was a consistency of "good" in this event. Note, though, I am hesitant to say the event is a true return-to-form because much of this year absolutely was reused, intentionally (but to a flaw), to celebrate its 25th year. Outside of the Body Collectors I do not think the original content was as good as it could've been. Unfortunately I will never give IPs the love they apparently get because it's less difficult to copy a successful horror movie than it is to create loved original content. I am very glad they increasing the number of scareactors in scarezones so that guests have a greater chance of being startled, but the money was wasted. The scarezones felt incomplete. Yes, the parade exists, but the parade does not stop vertical decorations, does not stop other items from other mobile props from being placed, etc. The wage cost for the extra actors could've been better spent on hiring less, but more talented actors and increasing the ambiance through props, effects, etc of the event. Many of the costumes looked ESPECIALLY plain or really amateur. The second night I went, Sunday, seemed to have the event firing on all cylinders. It was dramatically better than the Friday I went just two days prior. I have absolutely no idea why. It's critical they bump the event up to that level of intensity. That along brought the event up from a 6 to a 7. FYI, there is no excuse for the event to NOT have all the props/effects/makeup ready and working by the opening night of the event. Period. Jack: I do not think he was used effectively. Having a show, commercial, and house does not make an icon. The icon needs to add to the atmosphere. Jack did not do that. Plastering his face on every piece of memorabilia actually hurt a consumer's ability to choose. Why not get a mug with another icon on it? Claiming the event to be a carnival while having no actual sense of a carnival is pretty lame. This year could've been a perfect opportunity to really make Jack darker. Now, he seems like a "jackass shock rocker." If they wanted to a return to form they should've brought Jack back a la Director, Caretaker, etc. They must've flirted with the idea because I get SOME vibe from his early teaser and the Commercial, but someone, somewhere, must've jumped in and forced him to be more accessible. Going forward it'll limit how he can be developed, again. They should've used this year to develop his story more, but they didn't. Jack's Carnage Returns: I watched Jack's show on YouTube and was relatively impressed. Jack's makeup looked great. I liked how the show was more adult in nature. Acknowledging the event had gone soft is GREAT, too. Loved the stage itself, too. Knocking The Walking Dead was funny. Chance and Jack were great actors. I liked the playful incorporation of the other icons. I wished they'd stop the "HELL YEAH JACK" nonsense, though. Forcing crowd interaction seems to be a filler for a lack of material. Would've been nice to see a story develop on stage. The name of the show speaks to HHN17 which is a nice continuation nod. I didn't like the dancers at first but thought it played out well since they assisted Jack/Chance and made it seem more carnival like. There needs more action, though. Store & Memorabilia: Perfect idea to bring this type of store to the event. It's, frankly, long overdue. Speaking of stores, at Orlando airport they no longer have an HHN display, just a few items for sale. I think the shirts and mugs were definitely good, but it would've been nice to see something fantastic like the full Bloody Mary shirt, or some diversity to the icons face on the mug. We all have our preferences, let's cater to them. Jack is not the only thing people want. Location wise it was a fantastic choice. I loved seeing them label which props came from what year/house. Park Entrance: The entrance to the park was was very poorly decorated. I miss the days where it had more decorations. Yes, there is a cost element involved, but it absolutely makes people excited. However, I will complement Jack's voice playing over the speakers at times. Marketing: This year's marketing and website were pitiful. I've never been so disappointed by the event. They had a perfect opportunity to nail the hype for the event and it fell terribly short. The days of websites past are long gone, apparently. There is no excuse for the poor release schedule during the Scream fiasco. Release the original content to hold fans over. There is no genuine interaction with the website. The Twitter account, unless Creative took its reins momentarily, was embarrassing. Jack's Maniacs intuitively made no sense. Why would we become a maniac and then go get attacked in his houses? Some social media posts also spoiled far, far too much. Pricing, Dates, Time: I love that the event is open an hour later early in the season. I hope they're making money during the last hour and a half. By 11:30 both nights houses had their average wait time drop to, at most, 30 minutes, mostly averaging to 20 minutes. An hour before that they were hovering at 60. The Rush of Fear pass is a PHENOMENAL, intelligent offering priced very wisely and so is their express pass. (I will get the houses/scarezones up as soon as possible, but this is the first part. Hopefully by tonight something will be up).

  9. The photo craze is bad in all zones. It's kind of ruining the atmosphere of the streets. One of my friends was saying upon leaving the park they overheard another guest yell profanity at a clown for not taking a picture with them and then not saying they weren't going to take a picture with them. Friend overheard this and basically told them "they are not photo ops, he can't talk and you were being a huge jerk for something he can't really do much about". Apparently the guy went back to the clown to apologize. I'm scared they are going to go a "no photos" route soon because it's really becoming a hinderance to actors doing their job scaring. I've yet walk through a zone and see less than 2 scareactors posing for photos outside of evils roots.. There's so much fog in that zone that they don't turn out great anyways. The selfie obsession is real.

  10. I love your review, and you keep it real with some of the comments about fanboys & the idea of express. You pay to get into the park and be able to experience everything. That's what you paid for at the gate, to come in. Others pay to experience things faster. It's really not discriminatory, it's a PERK anyone can get. If you don't have the money budget and maybe next year you will. It's like complaining that someone got a nice steak dinner and you got a hamburger because they paid the price difference and you did not <-- one of my biggest complaint pet peeves. I will never buy express/fastpasses I'll wait up to 30-45min or I'll skip it. But I understand them. Your house/zone reviews are nice too! Thank you for your time and awesome attitude. I would've been really upset about the guys in the tour. I also would've gone to guest relations to give the guide a nice word for trying her best with dealing with such a hard group. Sorry you had to deal with that though.

  14. People saying that universal treats non express pass holders bad has been said for a couple years now and my comments weren't directed at anyone in particular. If I want to direct a comment at someone I'll just do that, I'm not above naming names when I feel it's warranted. The tour guide confirmed what I suspected that Universal Creative members from low to high get on the forums and read what people say and take things into account. Just want them to know that I enjoyed the event and will continue to come.

  15. I just returned from my HHN 25 trip. Went Friday and Sunday. Overall, a good year, but it has notable flaws. As usual I am seeing overwhelmingly positive reviews that are - frankly - undeserved. I will post a trip report with my review in time.

  16. Seeing how this is pretty much directed at me I'll respond. Only $220.00? For a Halloween event? Guess not all of us are made of money or have the ability to go more than once. But hey way to go on the upper-class "I'm better than you" mentality. Sure it is a privilege to have more money than the other guy I guess and you are entitled to your opinion. All I think is the event should be accessible to everyone who pays to come in... Like it used to be. Not an event for the "elite". After all it is just a Halloween event. When you pay to come to an event you should be at least entitled to have a good time. It isn't set up that way. It's an exercise in frustration. But to each his own. I've realized many things this year about this event. I realized I can have a great time at other events that cost a fraction of the price, are just as good, and don't piss me off nearly as much. I'll leave HHN to you rich folk. Wow thanks for that. Maybe I should hire you as a financial planner for a Halloween event? Sure you get your steak. But I should at least get to eat. Regardless... have fun. That's the bottom line. I didn't and that's that.

  17. They will not pull them. That's a fact. I'm working the zone and I have been told while big photo opp areas, they still will stay in the zone no matter what. If anything come Thursday they will be establishing a way to minimize some big photo crowds around them.

  18. So, Body Collectors come to life the same way as clowns. That's disappointing.

  19. I took an UTF tour of this house. The last part of the house where they have several people being sewn together is where they are making body collectors. The people in the straight jackets are just assistants according to the tour guide.

  20. I think there's also a bit of an issue in that the original AWIL succeeded in part thanks to its cast. We all came out with injuries of some sort from our aggressive scaring, and more than one of us got moved around due to scaring or performing so aggressively that we could no longer perform our original roles from the strain, like the Cast A Bus Victim who would fling herself out the window so hard that she bruised her stomach on preview night. I started as nothing but Transforming David and I acted my heart out until the muscle strain of my thrashing forced me out of the role. The current Transforming David I've seen seems barely into it, which doesn't help the room at all when its actual scare has been removed altogether. Great puppets and nostalgia for the film are the muscles, but cast quality is the backbone. Yes, aggressive and constant scares are exhausting and painful at times. But it's often a necessity to actually make the house work.

  21. My first visit this year was last Thursday and I will be attending again Sunday night. The event was indeed great, with 4 houses that I absolutely love and only one house that I have no hope for (TWD.) I'm going to come back and update with a run down of each trip I make as the event carries on. So, without further ado... Thursday (9/24) Had a great time and loved almost everything. I was there from 6:15-1:00 and did everything except for see Bill & Ted (and I did M&M and Insidious twice) But I didn't spend enough time in the streets to really from an opinion on the scarezones. Houses 1. Monsters & Mayhem - I was like a kid in a candy shop walking through each room. Two of the best scares of the night that got me in this house were the jack in the mirror (jack and I both laughed at how good he got me) and the gargoyle that is on the side of the cathedral. Also, I have to recognize the guy in the Forsaken who is popping out the floor of the boat on the right. I got stopped by him briefly in that scene and he went all out to get me 3 times and each time worked because I didn't expect him to keep going. 2. Insidious - The "Man with Red Face" is responsible for every scare that me got me in this house EXCEPT in the hallway where I decided to walk real close to the cloth wall to see if it was actual scareactors behind the wall... to my surprise, it indeed was real people and one of them grabbed my arm and nearly gave me a panic attack, haha. The best scare of the entire night though was one of the red face guys perfectly timing his scare and getting me so good that a lunged forward and squeezed my friend so fast and tight that it ended scaring her and making her scream. 3. Body Collectors - I need to go through this house to really appreciate this house, but I already love it. It is beautiful and the scares are plentiful and great. Off the top of my head, I absolutely loved the spine rip scene. 4. Freddy vs. Jason - Pretty darn good, I put this one higher than it deserves to be (based off my run through) because I could tell that we just got put in a poor spot and part way through, they were doing scareactor change. So, that wrecked a few of my scenes, but my biggest problems were how bad the Freddy masks looked and how terrible the Freddy and Jason killing each other scenes were. 5. Run - Fun, just needs a lot of energy. Perfectly cheesy and my friend and I both got a couple of decent scares. 6. Asylum in Wonderland - Looked REALLY cool and the tunnel worked tremendously, but the scares didn't get us as well as I had hoped for. All in all though, better than 90% of 3D houses. 7. The Purge - Did the best they could with having a Purge house set in Scream. I honestly could care less about the sets because it doesn't really matter for The Purge but they just need to pick up the energy a bit and make it real intense. 8. TWD - Horrible. Scareactors did decent, they didn't scare me once. And playing Knife Party in that final scene actually made me laugh out loud after I finished the house because I had forgot reading reviews warning me about it.

  22. Poor Jason and Freddy. When I went through this scarezone this past Thursday night, they both had a mob around them, wanting to take selfies and pictures. Like, they couldn't even walk. Fresh meat in a pack of lions. I wouldn't be surprised if they were removed from this scarezone for that reason. It was a little ridiculous.

  23. So has anyone tried the speciality drink this year that includes the collectible cup? I believe last years was called The Dead Walker or something like that. Just turned 21 and was wondering if it's worth buying or if I should just stick to a beer I already enjoy.

  27. Just got home from my second trip. I now understand why people were liking TWD so much and I was hating it. I had gone twice during the Passholder events, and apparently both times my eyes needed to adjust from being in the sun right before going inside because everything was pitch black throughout most of it. The lines weren't too bad later in the evening so I went again while it was dark out, and I could actually see everything in the house. It was so weird and I never would've thought that was the case. It's still not my favorite house this year, but it's not nearly as bad as I thought at first.

  30. Let me just start by saying that this year is one of the best years in a while and the anniversary year that HHN 20 should have been! So I've been to HHN 25 3 times now and have done each house 2-3 times so I've formed a pretty good opinion on each of them, however, I'm sure my opinions will change slightly by the end of the event as they usually do. I'll review each house in the order of how they appear on the map and rate each one on a scale of 1-10. Now onto my review of... Let's start with the Houses. Jack Presents 25 Years of Monsters & Mayhem - (10 / 10) This house. THIS HOUSE. It's like a HHN fans wet dream brought to life. From the moment you step in and see the entrance with the sideshow posters for the icons (including Cindy and Eddie) spinning around to Jack's final room, there's only one phrase I can think of and that's CHAOS REIGNS! I won't tell you what's inside because Universal has already done that but I will say there were a few surprises. American Werewolf in London - (6 / 10) It pains me to say it but this house just doesn't do it for me. In 2013 it was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen at HHN but I did this house 9 times in 2013 as well as the UTH Tour so I found the house very boring. I knew where every scare was before I even entered the room with the expetion of the new wolf puppet of course. I'm sure people who didn't do it before or only did it once or twice will love it but not me. If it wasn't for having an extra house this year I'd probably be upset by AWIL but it is what it is and no one is forcing me to do it so I can just spend my time in another house. Freddy vs Jason - (8 / 10) Don't get me wrong, this is a great house and will be near the top of everyone's list but there were a few problems that I can't overlook. SPOILERS AHEAD. First of, what the hell is up with those Freddy masks. They literally stop at the actors nose leaving the bottom half of their face exposed. I suppose it makes it easier to mouth dialogue or something but whenever they step into the light it's painfully obvious it's a mask. Secondly, can we just not with that second video screen. The first one is fine as all it;s doing is adding to the ambiance but the second screen with the 2 fighting is terrible. It's blurry, it's cheesy and they didn't even try to hide the fact that it was a screen. And finally the finale, I'm assuming whoever jumps out at the end is supposed to be the winner because I don't understand the whole Freddy hanging on stings thing they're trying to do. BUT other then that the house is actually really good and has many great scares. Body Collectors: Recollections - (10 / 10) Two words to describe this house, GORGEOUS and TERRIFYING! The scenes are great, the sets are fantastic, the cast is really into their roles and who doesn't love a good Body Collector spine ripping? There's not much else I can say about it really but don't miss this one! Run: Blood, Sweat & Fears - (6 / 10) For the record I've always had a tendency to dislike the houses in the Disaster queue, I'm just not a fan of the location at all. This year, however, my opinion has changed because Run is truly a fun house! I LOVE the story and the cultural aspect of the rooms and how the way the Reapers kill reflects their country on origin but overall the house just isn't scary for me and the finale could have been SO much better by just making a bit longer and adding some more turns to it. Insidious - (10 / 10) Scariest house this year for me and it gets me every time I go through it. The facade is beautiful as you may have seen and it truly feels as if you entered the Insidious movies. I also have to mention that the scene where you enter the Further has greatly improved since opening night with the addition of a certain effect in the walls. SCARY, SCARY, SCARY! The Purge - (4 / 10) I have to give the cast credit here, they're are doing the best with what they got which is a pretty terrible house. It ridiculously obvious that this house was supposed to be Scream. The first few rooms it's like they didn't even try to hide it and the last few rooms feel like they just tried to hide it behind as much black paint and curtains as possible and then blind you with strobes for no reason and their biggest solution was just put graffiti over EVERYTHING. I can't blame Universal for this one but it is a shame and nowhere near the standards set but the other houses. The Walking Dead: The Living and The Dead - (2 / 10) I HATED this house and it seems the creative team is just phoning it in with TWD now. Now season 5 of TWD is slow and doesn't have many memorable scenes so already they were at a disadvantage before they even began. Then you add to that the fact that the fans are sick of it, the creative team only does it because they have too and the fact that zombie (much like vampire a few years back) are falling out of favor with the general public and you've got a 'meh' house. Now Universal tried to fix it by adding a few more Walkers in the second week but it doesn't really make a difference. And that "walkers in water" scene they hyped up so much is laughable. Think two walkers in two black kiddie pools that aren't even hidden and you've got a pretty good idea of what it looks like. Such a shame compared to last year's Walking Dead house which was truly great and made you actually feel as if you were outnumbered by hoards of zombies. Asylum in Wonderland 3D - (7 / 10) I don't know why but I really like this house. There's NO way it's ever going to be in my top 3 houses this year but it's no where near as bad as The Walking Dead. The In-Between is still the best 3D house by far but I'd put this as the second best 3D house. I think it's just good old fashioned fun with some fun effects and it's also the ONLY time the tunnel has made me dizzy which is saying something. Great cast and fun trippy sets. Scarezones I won't spend to much time on the scraezones so here's a quick review. Scary Tales: ScreamPunk - (5 / 10) I's OK. Some of the characters are great and very steampunk and some I wouldn't even consider to be steampunk. Add that to one piece of set decoration and a bad location and you get a OK zone. Psychoscareapy: Unleashed - (8 / 10) I love the premise and the cast is REALLY into their roles! I would even think most of the inmates are actually legit crazy because they're that good. I also love the little mini shows/scenes going on throughout the night. All Night Die-In: Double Feature - (9 / 10) Seeing all the classic monsters walking around the streets in grey-scale is just something I've wanted to see for years. Evil's Roots - (8 / 10) By far the prettiest scarezone this year. Although it is considered an original scarezone it's as much a tribute to past years as the others are with tons of past characters walking around among the new ones. Icons: HHN - (8 / 20) Having the icons back is great but the area could use a few more actors walking the streets. As for the shows, they're both great so see them both! Overall this year is fantastic and what I wish 2010 was. Also the merchandise this year is insane!

  31. Ladies on the bed, perfect. I can't imagine the amount of sexual comments you hear every night but you're killing it. One of you followed me from one side of the bed to the other, and it was fucking HOT. I can't imagine that being comfortable with the amount of assholes and weirdos that come through there every night. Keep it up

  32. This has been a good even all around with the exception of one house that I will get to. The scarezones were all top notch this year and none of the park felt empty! Both shows were great. As someone who missed 2007, I was happy to see Jack on stage once more! HOUSES: 1. 25 YEARS: MONSTERS & MAYHEM This house was great! I enjoyed every bit and could name every scene. I greatly enjoyed seeing Cindy and Eddie. However, as great as this house it, I got two maybe three total scares out of it. Maybe I just didn't get the right timing. I will see if anyone can truly scare me in this as the event goes on. SCARES: 3/10 SCENERY: 10/10 2. AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON I did not go through this one since I went through the original and this is supposed to be a replica. 3. FREDDY VS JASON Another fantastic house! There were Jasons right off the bat in the first room and both got me. All the scares from this house came from the Freddys and they all got me good. Sadly, since it was still light outside, my eyes could not adjust enough to see the scenery too well. The mirror maze was awesome to go through though. SCARES: 8/10 SCENERY: 6/10 4. BODY COLLECTORS It is great to hear A Summer Place theme again. I loved the decor of this house and it fit greatly with the Body Collectors formal dress. Also that spine room with all the different body collectors and the headless guy...amazing! My only gripe with this house is that the spine ripping room I think needs more scare actors. They need some live people mixed in with the fake dummies in the seats watching the spine rip. SCARES: 8/10 SCENERY: 10/10 5. RUN A lot of people had mixed or somewhat positive experiences on this. I am putting this up in my top list for a good reason. I got to enter this house alone! No one in front of me nor behind me. Experiencing this house completely solo is the best way to do it. It feels like you actually do have to survive each room with the scare actors focusing on just you. This house had me run a little and for the first time ever, got me on the ground in fear! The electricity room with ol' smokey got me good. More specifically the guy on the heightened platform that had two electric wires to put on metal to make noise. It caught me so off guard that I went down to the ground screaming. Just for that I give this house my highest praise that I can give it! SCARES: 10/10 SCENERY: 10/10 6. INSIDIOUS The great houses keep flowing. I love the movies (I have not seen the third movie yet.). This house had the one thing I was looking forward to the most...Tip Toe Through the Tulips. I got some great scares and the energy was great in this house with some of the scenes from the movie being recreated perfectly. The further hallway was amazing! SCARES: 8/10 SCENERY: 10/10 7. PURGE I hated this house. I thought walking dead would be my most hated but nope. This house does nothing for me at all! Boring sets and boring scares. I did two runs to give this house the most fair chance I could. I never got a scare from this house and the scenery does not impress me. I never thought I could be bored in a haunted house but this one did it. I'm a fan of both films, this house is supposed to cater to me. I think the purge is more effective on the streets where you can really show more chaos than in a confined room. I also got major and unforgivable disrespect from one of the team leaders for this house that I will not go into in this review as I do not wish to slander the TL's name. If you wish to know the whole story on that feel free to PM me. 10/10 WOULD AVOID AGAIN! 8. WALKING MEH: THE MEH STRIKES BACK Have you gone in any of the walking dead houses? Yes? Then you have been in this one. Not much more to say than that -oh wait there is! I actually got lost in this house. Specifically in the warehouse room, I made a wrong turn and the zombies in the corner were pointing where to go while grunting and moaning. It was kinda funny. I will give a special mention to the revolving door scene, I thought that was interesting. SCARES: 1/10 SCENERY: 4/10 9. ASYLUM IN WONDERLAND This house was nice in its design. The scares were not that great. I was hearing confusion over the ending with the Red Queen slicing Alice's throat. My thoughts on this is that the Red Queen killed the last of Alice's sanity, dooming her to be trapped in wonderland and the asylum forever. I got one scare from the White Rabbit as I did not expect anyone before tunnel. Speaking of tunnel, the tunnel actually made me dizzy for the first time. In past houses I could walk without grabbing the rails, but in this house I had to. SCARES: 3/10 SCENERY: 8/10

  33. If Fear doesn't get a stage, Luck shouldn't get a stage. Both characters were an attempt to create "god-like monsters" versus crazy, evil (and maybe undead) people. They aren't in the same vein, or even comparable (story-wise).

  34. Right but 2008 was supposed to be like a redneck werewolf in London. Essentially what would happen if the AWIL happened in a redneck hunting lounge. If I remember correctly with SH... They didn't have a secured location either for the longest time. That house was doomed to fail which really REALLY ticks me off. Being my all time favorite Horror IP I felt robbed.
