HHN 2012: Terror Tram: Invaded by the Walking Dead

This is very cool BUT, this should've been released with the maze announcement. I'm excited for some semblance of theme again this year but on that same token, it could've been a much bigger and cooler property but this is still good enough. It could be way worse. The show is hot right now but I know there's still a crap load of people who haven't seen it, but then again, zombies are a universal theme. Another big problem is Dish users don't even have AMC right now! One reason I'm a bit let down is because I was totally expecting a new property after Murdy saying, "it's a theme never done before at HHN." Technically, TRUE, with the carnyism, but that's just a bit cheap. Got me excited and expecting something new for nothing but this is STILL good. I just imagine I'd be way more excited for it if I knew that first hand, since we were all expecting TWD to be the Terror Tram since probably last year! But I'll try not to let the order of announcements get to me but in all honesty, that just really bugs when you're expecting something else and end up getting something you already have. Like, "and here's a NEW dish we have prepared for you that's never been made before today." And the chef says this just after you finished his spaghetti and just when you're thinking, "ooooh, I wonder what it is" he comes out with MORE fucking spaghetti. Just a bit peeved, tis all, but I AM marginally anticipating this.

Pros:

1) Return to theme, maze/Terror Tram/hopefully scarezone crossover

2) Should make an exciting "we're being taken over" moment

3) Appears it won't be tied down to the show, ala free creative reign

Cons:

1) Originality is a bit low since zombies/cannibals are on the TT every year

2) As much as I like TWD, I have to admit other things are way better suited

3) Won't represent the show/property, ala Scream, and it might falter

I was the first, and I think only person to say that the Terror Tram would be only the Walking Dead. After the maze announcement people said it may be "part" of it. I knew they'd take up the whole thing!

Edit: Based on the zombie, foresty theme of the show, I am fairly sure it will be the same location...

I'm pretty sure everyone here thought The Walking Dead was FOR SURE going to be the Terror Tram way before they even announced the maze. In fact, we thought the maze would be LESS likely. The hints threw us off so we speculated other things. And I'm pretty sure other things will be on the TT, so I doubt it'll be ONLY zombies. If so, this is going to be the most boring TT ever.

^I actually think it's a nice surprise for us fans. This tells me the event is going back to its roots of having a theme...something that has been lacking since 2009. I'm VERY happy the event is turning back around into the event I have known and loved dearly!

Add onto the WotW sets fitting in....yeah, it's the same location for sure. I don't mind because I want to see the Terror Tram done right!

Yup, this is what we've been asking for! I hope they make the WotW epic somehow instead of the same its always been. Maybe it could be like, "in order to escape the madness, there's safe houses waiting for you!" And we get there and see the plane destroyed them all. NOOOOOOOOOO!!! lol

If so, they better have the zombies eating Norman Bates.

OMG lmao BEST TERROR TRAM IDEA EVER

Potential to be awesome, and potential to be just as bad, or worse, than the Terror Tram for the last two years. Regardless, it's nice to see HHN go back to its roots with having the TT relate to the theme of the event.

I hope we don't see any chainsaw on the Terror Tram. It's just so over done and lame in my eyes.

This is true. It could be really bad if its ONLY TWD and it could be really bad if they try to hodgepodge other stuff in there. They gotta be REALLY careful with this one to make it good. The best way to get chainsaws in there is to have survivors with chainsaws hacking away at the zombies, turning around and "accidentally" scaring us.

I sure me and DTH are the only ones who are gonna feel this way but compaired to every else realsed this realy didnt excite me at all.

Don,t get me wrong I love the Walking Dead, this will probably be done realy well and Im glad that there is a connection to theme again but my inner voice is thinking "Yay, zombies on the WOTW thats something I never seen before" >_>

I gotta stuck up for chainsaws its not scary TO US but you see how many people freak out with it.

It's true, something we've seen before just expanded and hopefully with WAY better looking zombies. I would've been more excited if it was something else but I guess this will do. I just wish the announcement was in tandem with the maze release, that way I wouldn't have anticipated something else.

All I can ask is why. Maze AND Terror Tram. I've only gotten through two episodes of Walking Dead and while it's good visually, I feel that the story lacks....is it worth watching more episodes? It reminds me of "I Am Legend" almost......not sure what's up with Horror Nights this year. I'm having a feeling that 2011 was the peak, and that it's all going downhill from here (repeats, repeats, repeats, DUBSTEP)

Let's discuss.

Well then you're in luck. From what I've heard, it's ALL just the visual elements of the Walking Dead and NONE of the story. They're not going to suddenly give the TT the story of the show and the maze is all about us being the survivors, so there's none of that drama stuff. HHN is basically only doing the zombie mayhem parts of the show, which is the best part anyway.

Nevermind, JGMoney was right...

@HorrorNights: Will it be entirely WD or will properties such as Psycho be used in certain areas?

@lolahermosa All WD

This is WEAK. My excitement just went from a 9 to a 4 or 5 instantaneously. They're going to have to add SO much for this to even be DECENT. Otherwise, this'll make the 09 and 10's travesties look meek in comparison.

I was hoping the Walking Dead section would start once the hills started. Maybe just use the Whoville area as a cautionary zone with cops trying to escort you toward the Bates Motel to lead ya to the "safe houses" and to stay on the regular TT trail to avoid the zombies. So then ya get whatever's at the Bates Motel (um... Psycho) and then there's someone screaming, "don't go into the hills!" And then ofcourse, we don't listen and then half the group is ravished (would be awesome to have a crap load of plants in the group). We then fight are way passed the Psycho house, turn the corner and CRAP. Safe houses are gone! You're SCREWED. Obviously that's my take on it and wouldn't expect Murdy to do the same but there's NO way to make it not just 100% zombies, all the time?! I'm sure we'll get SOME variety from maybe some HAZMAT trying to shower us down or something but c'mon.

I couldn't imagine them putting ONLY zombies on there. That would pretty much be their way of telling us that they don't care about the terror tram and that they're only doing it cause it's kind of a trademark haha. I'm gonna keep my expectations on this one lower so that hopefully when I walk through it, I'll be amazed ahaha.

^I have a feeling it will be all zombies. Here's my re-enactment ;)

"Eh... I got nothing for the Terror Tram... maybe we can just throw those extra zombie costumes from the Walking Dead on the tram"

"Does their need to be a story?"

"No, zombies are scary. No story needed!"

<_<

I wasn't excited when I heard this announcement.

Probably the announcement that's saddened me the most so far.

Maze, great, though I don't watch the show, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Terror Tram, great, though I don't watch the show, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Terror Tram AND maze? No.

Whether it worked with Saw or not; no.

Especially ALL WD on the tram? Makes it worse.

Whether chainsaws are scary to people or not, the loud noise they make brings a vibe.

I believe it's necessary.

Hopefully it'll turn out better than I expect, but I'm not expecting much.

It's also the main property which is kind of stupid in my opinion.

I definitely think something with a notable main character should be the main property.

I don't think I'd of been upset if Alice Cooper was the main property (or main character), even a Silent Hill nurse would be better.

you thought Live or Die was a travasty????

If you guys read my idea below I think it could work perfectly like this VVVV

VVVVV

a cameo in the video would be cool but im glad they arnt using them on the trail, but the only way I see it working is if we get on the tram and the guide does the usual and talks about how scary this tram will be and then we get breaking news showing footage of places under attack by zombies (like Alanta, this is were a small cameo would take place) and the guide gets a call saying the Terror Tram has been attacked and all the guest and Scare-Actors have been infected.

Murdy basically saying WD will be better than NOES and Saw (08 & 09, TT's best years) -- okay, he's not really saying that but it's ALMOST like saying that lol:

@MiceChat I believe NOES was the theme of Terror Tram and a maze, Saw was too. WD works better than those

Grindhouse might be on the nose with this one:

@HorrorNights Will WD maze follow the order of the show?

@BrantSennett Pretty much, maze starts in the hospital from episode 1. The Terror Tram is more the studio being invaded by Walkers

More of the TT being basically what Grind said:

@HorrorNights Hey john, will all the talent in terror tram be walkers? will we see some of the survivors?

@MikeTweetz Well presumably some people at the studio survived after the walkers invaded...

Seems like things will be a bit different... perhaps a new drop off point? A new end location?

@HorrorNights Will the Terror Tram have the same layout from The Bates Motel, up the hill to the Bates Mansion, and through the WotW set?

@ItsChadTweeting Tweaking things a bit

Bummer we won't get Norman being eaten haha... didn't they do this last year? Kinda ruins the effect of a "studio being taken over" when a calm actor-Norman is just standing around taking pictures while everybody else is being eaten by zombies...

@HorrorNights does WD terror Tram mean no Norman Bates? or Zombie Norman????

@FireXFist No Zombie Norman. Making Norman\Psycho House available to people if they want to take a pic

see thats way better the the trambeing based on the show, and make it interesting so now Im on board!

well Norman is a tad... PSYCHO.... so he probably isn't too worried about having zombies invade :zombie_attack: since it will obviously mean an easier way of disposing his victim's bodies. If they're eaten by zombies, he can't be "caught". :D

what would be cool is this....well I would imagine Norman can hold his own in a Zombie Apocolypse, would be cool if you pass his house and you see tons of walker corpses on his porch and he just chilling there like its just another day for him, cuz remember according to studio Tour and Terror Tram lore he is not a SA he is actauly norman and actualy live on the backlot all the other Terror Tram (Minus chucky) The actual Norman was not apart of the tram he's out enjoying the chaos.

I've been lurking in the shadows for a while... but I've decided to join the discussions hahaha.

In my opinion, I don't think theres gonna be any chainsaws on the TT (even when we get off the tram).

Chainsaws + zombies will not mix well, the crowd would probably be like "wtf?"

I do believe when we get off the tram that there will either be 20-some zombies wandering in front off Whoville or people in HAZMAT suits trying to shower us (like DTH said) (also that means there would be ALOT of water effects).

You guys shouldn't be complaining so much, haven't you noticed that when people complain about something being bad or boring, it turns out to be better than expected? :D

Remember Saw? F13 v2.0? NOES v2.0?

It all works out.

Plus you guys don't have to worry about going into the Mummy Tunnel in the end since it won't tie in with the theme :P

^I think they will use the mummy tunnel, but as a shower center since they used water effects in that area for saw. Anyways, I wonder if there will be zombie versions of movie characters,or if some zombies will match the area they're in in any way like kid zombies in whoville or something. I just don't want to see static zombies throughout the whole tt.

It would be awsome if they make the tour guide get eaten by a zombie kind of what they did with SCRE4M.

that would be really cool, or the your guide isn't there and a zombie pops up on the screen. This is just wishful thinking but id really like if once you get to the backlot, zombies drag your tour guide out the tram.

The way the girl on Scream got killed though was it was pre-filmed for the way back (she was actually my guide on the way down, which made it all the more realistic and awesome) with a host already sitting with a Ghostface hood on to take the killer's place once the video was over. Problem with zombies eating our guide is there would be nobody to reasonably replace him once the video was over (can't film multiple guides being eaten - would take too much time and money and new guides could be hired last minute). Ghostface worked because the mask identity could've been anyone, which made it nice and anonymous. Having them get eaten when we're dropped off would be could though, probably would just take too much time. And welcome Ninja!

Not really, it would take just as much time as the thing the scareactors usually do before running after everyone. The guide would say that he/she would help us through the invasion on the monitor after whatever video they use. They'd get of, two zombies grab them and take them away, then the zombies attack the guest. Or the guide tells us that police are waiting at the stop but then we see them being grabbed and eaten once we get there.

Then they'd have to get back on the tram and get situated (clean off blood/prosthetics, wait for zombie attackers to clear, waiting for guide to get back in before closing the door, sit down in seat before leaving, being cleared for dispatch) . That tram takes off to pick up the other guests leaving the Terror Tram immediately after we get off. Holding that up, even by an extra thirty seconds, causes a longer line up top.
