  1. It definitely was a much darker, vicious event in the 90s. It was gorier, scarier, the scareactors were allowed to be much more aggressive, the houses generally had queue videos which set the mood, and the crowds were under control allowing them to split up people in the houses like I mentioned. Unfortunately because of our newly sue-happy society and the popularity of the event they had to tone everything down and try not to offend anyone. Like I said, I still like HHN but I'm sad the direction it has gone. It doesn't have the same feel that it once did, and at $220 for two people for one night it's not worth it for me anymore. In 2001 they had the RUN house which was an actual chain linked fence maze filled with chainsaws. Try doing that these days.

  2. So I Rosie outdid herself last night and I think said the funniest thing to date. After giving her my last piece of candy and realizing the plastic bag was empty she says, "I got all the candy!!!" then snatches the bag from my hands and shouts "AND the bag too!! Now I can strangle infants!" and that inspired this meme:

  3. If you get a picture with me, also, prepare to have your bubble violated. I like to react in character to everything, so I respond to picture requests by lunging until I'm within inches of the person I'm posing with and growling and breathing on them. It makes for great pictures when they look genuinely terrified, and I've actually gotten out of several pics by scaring the person so badly that they fail to get out their camera or simply run away in fear.

  4. Calm down. I watched the show on the 11th before they apparently changed the script. The portrayal of both candidates was extremely awkward. Yep, we get it, Romney is a woman-hater, evil, greedy, rich and Obama is awesome, hip, and cool. It was blatantly one-sided and biased. In the past Bill & Teds on election years they made fun of both candidates. Bush and Kerry in 2004 and McCain and Obama in 2008. I believe the reason is that NBC now owns Universal, which they acquired in November 2008. NBC also owns MSNBC which also heavily leans towards the left. Thus, the reason, I believe, the large bias in the portrayal of the candidates. You simply shouldn't do that in a comedy show show at a theme park though, where 50% of your audience is divided politically. They should have at least made an effort to crack jokes at both candidates. It wasn't a big deal for me and I'm not going to boycott them, I just think it was a bad move where they had potential to really make it a funny part of the whole show like previous years.

  7. We had the Baccanoid challenge last night and almost didn't make it. I didn't get a good picture of the group shot because there were so many of us. I did get a nice individual shot, though.

  8. Saw the show again last night. They've definitely done some tweaks. Obama got a few lines back, and Romney's rap is now mildly funny. And Captain America is back to saying "Communist cakehole." Still not nearly as good as the original, but a definite improvement over last Sunday's version.

  9. Shoutout to Miguel-The Warrior for giving me the best damn scare I have gotten this year. Shoutout to Elf-The Prisoner for 2nd best scare I've gotten in the streets. Alice Cooper around 11:15, you guys gave me the best run I've had through that house all year. Not sure why you were so on point but you were. If I had only had that run and not the mediocre ones your house would be viewed in a different light by me. Thanks to my Elvis friend as well!

  10. You know how, when you go through a house multiple times over 6 weeks, and it keeps getting better each time? Yeah, that I keep forgetting people, but I'm trying really hard not to. Had two cast A runs last night, both were so fun and well awaited! First set of straightjackets - thanks for attacking me - multiple times - every time. Love my nurse and sharing hand hearts!! It looks like our doctor is fully recovered and completely on top of his game, yay! Both black widows continue to work the strobes and their spider webbing to get VERY in your face, and I love it! Mom and Dad both rock - Mom seems to be getting more psycho as the event progresses, and Dad gives me enough attention from above me that I'm appropriately creeped out. And I do like that. Ah, my bully ain't no bully but a sweetheart (but don't tell anyone that, coz he also scares right good-like). I have been really remiss in appreciating our cheerleader, since I'm usually focused to the right. Thanks for the scares, and I hand heart you too!! Dead Jock and Dead Dad are getting really good at both getting me every run through - I especially enjoy the "L" sign Dead Dad holds up to his forehead (how did you know?). Cold Ethyl, I know you don't get nearly enough acknowledgment at what is set up as a distraction. Please know, every time I go through, it's good to see you're back (har-de-har-har). Helzo, thanks for hitting your target (me) every time. And special kudos on my second run - not only did he get me, but also the guy just behind me immediately after. And the guy was still scared, knowing he was there! Heart XRay Alice, you always combine creep-i-tude and affection. Which is extremely disturbing. And makes me very happy. Final mattress room Steven psycho person - thank you for chasing me out of your room! They chase because they care... Finale Alice and Steven, thanks for coming after me each time, even though I tend to be distracted. And so much applause, as always, to my finale showman; I tip my invisible top hot to you as well, kind sir. I really hope I didn't forget anyone. Thank you all for making this silly lady so happy during my many run throughs. So sad it's almost over, but grateful for the wonderful memories, and anticipating a fabulous and over the top final night! <3

  12. The video is terrible, but I actually got almost the full Chucky show last week. Not as good as the one above, but it shows just how the lighting effects look while walking down the lagoon path in CP.

  14. When I clocked out on Thursday last week, I spent some time checking out the other streets. I passed the Prisoners on their way back from their last set in MIB, and when they got held up for some scares outside IFFF one of them said "We can't stop here! This is zombie country!" Because that was an extended hours night, the four or five girls who elected to stay for an extra set spent it in Central Park. I have a very crappy, almost black video of it on my computer that I will be uploading eventually, but there was a part where they made a guy sprint from the merchandise stand all the way to the Hollywood exit. Don't fuck with chainsaw girls.

  15. The Coop showed up to make a video in Hollywood recently. Will he be doing the same for Orlando?

  16. That's pretty cool. I don't remember anything specifically but I do remember them pulling people out and putting them in mock torture situations like you described. I also remember they would really chase down people with the chainsaws, like people full on sprinting

  17. To give people an idea of how aggressive things got at the event during its first decade I'll share at least two memories. I remember having a scareactor threaten me by looping his prop sickle around my neck in the MIDWAY OF THE BIZARRE and I witnessed a guest being pulled from the line of HOTEL HELL to be faux- eviscerated by the chainsaw drill team. The guy could have been a plant but I doubt it seeing as he re-joined his group in line after the demonstration. I can't see any one of these things happening today or ever again. You have any stories Matt?

  18. Very true statement. As soon as whatever piece of entertainment you can think of hits it big, the powers that be dumb down the material (or in this case neuter it) for a general audience in an attempt to make the proceedings as inoffensive as possible. I can recall the event in the 90's and though it was a much smaller venue then... it was much more aggressive. On the streets and in the houses. In later years the only house I can recall that had the feel of an earlier haunt was FRIDAY THE 13TH from 2007. I'm not a fan of the series at all. As such I didn't expect much from the house but man oh man(!) were the cast members viscous! All the Jasons invaded your personal space more than once so I refuse to believe that it was a mistake when one of them pressed his mask against my face and yelled something inaudible (out of character but who cares!?). With that exception, yes, the past decade or so has changed scare wise. Nowadays, there seems to be an invisible, impenetrable bubble around you that the scareactors cannot enter. This is Universal's attempt at not trying to be sued. I guess one can't blame them for that but it has hurt the event.

  23. Last night in Central Park I met up with the blonde Fox Girl. I tried to apologize for having mistook her for Rosie but before I could say anything she screamed "I DON'T LIKE YOU!!!!" in my face and ran off. I had bought a bag of Peppermint Patties before this however as I had been told by Corey were her favorite. "Don't you want any candy?" I called after her. She came running back immediately with hands held out. "A peace offering" I said, but before I could take out a piece of candy for her she grabbed the whole bag! She looked at me for a beat then shouted "BUT, NO!!!!!" and ran off again. Shortly after this, still in Central Park a Kitten Ballerina and a Hag approached me. The Cat Girl said "Dr. Jimmy you are in BIG trouble!", she told me she had heard what happened with the two Fox Girls the other night. I started to explain to her what had just happened with the Fox while she listened patiently when suddenly I was nailed by a Jack O' Lantern sneaking up and scaring me from behind! The little Cat had set me up! She just giggled evilly at this. Later I finally met up with Rosie herself near Men in Black. She was also quite a bit angry, as she had heard that I had mistook the other one for her. I apologized profusely and told her what had happened. "She's my sister" she said with some disdain, "but I have nothing to do with her." "Don't you have any candy for me?" "I'm sorry but she took the whole bag. She doesn't want to share any with you." Rosie: "THIS IS WHY I DISOWNED HER!!!!" "but, you really have no candy for me? how could you? I THOUGHT WE HAD SOMETHING SPECIAL!!!!" and she started to cry. I really began to feel bad for her. And desperately looked around and saw the MiB shop. "Wait, don't cry. There's a shop, I go see if they have candy" I ran in and bought a large bag of M&Ms. Plain - just in case Rosie might have any allergies. I came back out, and almost panicked as I didn't see her at first... but then there she was. "Here I got some for you, M&Ms. They don't melt in your hands." I said vapidly. Slowly with great hesitation she considered the candy.... "Can I trust you?" "Is it poisoned?" "Yes, please trust me." i pleaded. Then the Chicken Boy who had been watching all along clucked "I WANT IT!!!" Both he and a Goblin began grabbing at the bag. This convinced her. "NO!" She told her fellow Traditionals, "This is MINE!!!!" And she took the bag and ran off happily screaming, while the Chicken Boy chased after her!!!

  25. It is now 3:25 AM and I have just driven my usual 50 miles to get home..and what am I doing ? READING THIS FORUM...I take (maybe a bit unhealthy) a HUGE amount of interest as to what all of you think about our performances in this house.if there's anything useful then I put it to work the very next time I get behind the bell...so for those of you that pop up here with the "meh" comments..THANK YOU..it's YOU that I'm thinking of as I watch literally trains of Human Centipedes 10 people long RUN top speed through the tower only to not make it once they get about 2 feet from the door.its YOU I think about when I see grown men twice my size jump or even better put themselves on the wall and edge out ..keeping as far away from me as possible...again THANK YOU...you are TRULY an inspiration to me...as for those of you that come through uttering " What the @##$!!!! or ":Man I KNEW HE WAS REAL!!!!" YOU are the reason I drive 100 miles a day for...I NEVER take a day off during the entire run ..You deserve at least that...So keep the MEHs coming ..so that the "What the F@#$!!!!" keep having a blast..... Thank you and good....morning
