HHN 22: The year of bland marketing.

This may sound awfully hypocritical of me as I was the biggest source of most of the leakage this year about the event, cryptic as I may have been, but I will be staying away from these forums a bit as there are now way too many things that would, "ahem" spoil too much of the houses for me. Especially such things as actual walkthrough videos! I prefer to wait until I have walked through the houses at the event before I look upon such things. But once the event has actually started and I have experienced the houses and "street experiences" first hand, I will be back posting as always. Oh yes, I will not elaborate any further, but signs have already been seen of some of the fun in games in store for us! Where comfortable shows.... especially on Thursdays... P.S. i will nevertheless thill be posting a bit on next Tuesday, as that day is quite important to me.

TOTAL pipe dream and most likely NOT possible....but since the event hasn't started yet and it's all about speculation: The RV always looked like it was stuck in an odd spot in the Disaster queue. Like even in pics/vids from last week, it looks just stuck there with nothing like fake trees or anything around it. Imagine if they wheeled it out prior to the event (not each night, they just haven't done it yet) and put it out there. With characters from the show on the roof with shotguns or whatever (this didn't really happen on the show, so it's creative liberty and flies in the face of the 'licensensed characters in/outside of the house' argument) fighting off a horde of zombies that swarm the RV. The crowd of us gather to watch, and then the zombies "notice" us and come running. That would be AWESOME. The characters climb down, stomp around with shot guns firing every so often to scare the $#!+ out of you, then climb back up on top and it starts all over again. It's like a Scare Zone and a mini-show all in one. <<Totally uniformed wishful thinking speculation over>>

I was expecting armor on warriors he's just half naked with tattoos and purple leather pants. Maybe just catering to the drunk women in the event? But sadly I ain't being drunk nor a woman so bad first impression.

I'm thinking we'll probably attempt the duck/crouch path at least once, but be lazy the majority of nights....and then point and laugh at everyone else who attempts the other path and maims themselves in the process

I worked in guest services for many years and let me tell you, the time of year with the most plethora of all things lost...HHN. Add in houses with rooms like this, oh hell to the yes, there are going to be some lost hats, sunglasses and the like....

He's right...the videos really don't give much away at all. So for those of you who dying to see them but are afraid that your going to ruin your initial experience with each house, no need to fret, that will not happen. So, come on, give into peer pressure and watch them, all us cool kids are doing it....

yeah it makes me sad there will be no clowns, I actually would have wanted clowns more than Warriors based on the costume we saw, I would have preferred some clowns with chainsaws, I mean, I would even prefer the clowns with saws than the prisoners....

I'm sure they will tweak it. I remember the first few runs through the Hallow were so dark I ran into walls, cornered myself, tried to walk out a emergency exit, walked behind the set, and bumped into people in front of me. But they lightened it up on subsequent runs.

I don't know how many times it took me to catch the President's Day Countdown Clock gag for BloodNGutz. We went 4 nights with the Rush of Fear + Express so we did the house AT LEAST twice each night. I think it was the 7th time through I saw the countdown "payoff" and the other 7 guys in my group missed it. The next time through, we stalled it so everybody could see it (and get a hell of a scare from behind since we all stood there for 30sec staring at the desk). And there were other things, like the Easter Gag in Chucky, that we didn't even know about until reading reviews AFTER we went to the event. Judging by a single walkthrough, pre-Employee Preview, with limited scaractors and gags operational is pretty pointless.

Due to a mistake (it wasn't me, trust me) in the pre-dates. I'm now looking to move this event to the 10/26/12, same time and location. That way everybody can come and join in on the fun. As far as the hordes, We will have to see how that idea works at the event before hand and then take action.

That is an awesome gate! And love the king kong and jaws tribute on the prop.lol.

The video posted above (while better quality than the others I have seen) is a classic example of a "reset walkthrough". Poor guy didn't catch ANY of the scares. There is another video online that you can barely watch (because it's so dark) but that guy got almost every scare in the house, or what I like to call, an "Ultimate walkthrough" (well, as ultimate as you can get with the preview cast and preview effects in place). Ultimate walkthroughs are the reason so many of us go through a maze multiple times throughout the event, trying to get every scare in there (or as close as possible). Eventually it happens, but the chances of UW's happening in multiple houses on one event night are almost slim to none, hence the reason why many of us live at UO for the entire month of October :-)

Not watching, not watching. LA LA LA LA LA (fingers in ears).. you can't make me! Jeez.. you guys are KILLING ME! But two weeks from tonight, I'll be walking thru that gate and I'll see for myself. OMG, I can't believe I only have two more weeks!!

I hope so, I am planning on being there.

Penn&Teller Newk’d Las Vegas-Magicians Penn&Teller are known for pushing the envelope. Universal’s House of Horrors-Universal was built on monsters. They have a deep legacy that runs 100 years with film, so of course they have to pay homage to the very fathers of horror. House of Horrors will use technologies and techniques never before used at Horror Nights. You’ll crawl through caves, go underwater with the Creature, and even explore curses with the Mummy. The entire house will also be in stunning “black and white” That is on behind the thrills.

The fake nurses look real as hell haha. I wish they did lights on videos of all the houses. You get to see all the details you might miss walking through during the event. Really cool.

Can I just say I adore the facade and its adornments? I'm also in love with the music and sound effects!

Well I'm not watching them you can't make me Actually I will probably go blackout on Employee preview night as well. I really don't like the spoilers at that point. But... I will have a review from the 21st... And pics from the UMTH the next day

Ummmm, my friend and I were messing around in the Kiddie Zone of Aquatica (??? Sea World Water Park) a few years ago and he lost his glasses. That was embarrassing as he was SOBER. Of course, I lost my Rx glasses a night later on the beach and had to wear a friend's different contact lenses Rx. No...neither of us ever recovered our glasses...so if you find some on the beach of Cocoa Beach, they might be mine! It's funny now, but this low hanging area could kick our @$$es in 3 weeks (the other glasses moron is part of my group heading down). PS - while we are dumb drunks, we're HAPPY dumb drunks who keep to ourselves...and make fun of ourselves. We're all pushing 40 in NY and fly down for a long weekend to unwind and take cabs to and from our hotel/resort. But we do squeeze in 3 months worth of drinking in 4 days and can be very entertaining to watch.

To be fair both videos dont give much away. Silent Hill is lights on and no scareactors and Dead End is so dark you can barley seen anything. Both look good though cant wait!

We were also told that we would not be getting the full effect Aiello said there were alot more effects going to be used. We were seeing the husk of the house.

but.. IDK... what's the point? I'm all for construction photos and pics here and there.. but flipping full on walk throughs? Keep something for a surprise! It's like they know people will go no matter what so we don't care what you take pictures/videos of.. Just open the event early then...

moved the "official" construction pics to the construction pic thread. I agree though D looks like the walkers will probably be situated around SF.

I'm hoping that if people who watch TWD come out, they will come out just for that house and perhaps not loiter around or be interested in the rest of the event and just leave.... A girl can dream can't she? I would pay good money to a picture of you standing next to the doors with a thing of paint swatches in your hand....LOL
