  1. After forcing myself to stay up way past my normal bedtime last night, at first I was a little dismayed about the lackluster "reveal". However, after checking out the website, I can honestly say this is the first year since 2006 that I'm actually giddy with excitement about the event. The overall concept for this year is something different, Uni seems to be trying to mix things up and move away from the old school playbook the event has always followed. The "street experience"...if this ends up being as immersive and interactive as I'm hoping, it will elevate the scarezone concept to something completely new. And for the first time in a very long time, I'm actually excited about ALL the houses. So we don't have a fancy, smancy website. There is no icon. Who cares? I take the event for what it is at face value, a great way to celebrate haunt season and do it in a way that many people only wish they could.

  2. I would just like to say that even though I was thoroughly disappointed last night at the "reveal" I am actually getting really excited for this year. This is the first year that I'm not going into the event with a preconceived notion that a house will be bad. All of them have great potential in my mind. Combine this with the potential of a new street experience and I am one happy girl. This year may be "my year" as you people say. Almost seems like it's catered to me!

  3. I am completely and totally down with this concept. The event is going to evolve folks, whether anyone likes it or not. The old traditional scarezones, yeap, we've seen those for what, the past 20 years? Moving the concept to something different like this switches things up...and in my book, change is ALWAYS a good thing. I like the idea of having the streets being labeled as "experiences" instead of scarezones, makes it seem a bit more interactive and involved than the usual scarezone we are all used to.

  5. Personally, I kind of think of the Iniquitus as the icons. No, it isn't ONE person, but they certainly seem to be calling the shots in the park.

  7. This is the house I'm most excited for. Can't wait to see the Cathedral in person. Now... if only they hadn't given it such a lame name!

  8. Tonight will be the night Universal reveals all to us about Halloween Horror Nights 22. Thanks to everyone for the months of speculation, but now it's time for it to come to an end. Stay tuned later tonight after the reveal for all the House and Scarezone topics! Speculation 2012 is now closed and locked!

  9. 2012 Horror Night Nightmares Opening Night Get Together WHEN: 4:00pm, Friday, September 21st WHERE: Bob Marley: A Tribute to Freedom @ CityWalk WHO: Anyone who wants to come WHY: Because we can, that's why This get together is about as casual as they come, so whether you want to finally meet some of your fellow Nightmares face to face and chat it up, want to hang out pre-event for drinks and dinner, just stop by, say "hi" and leave, or stalk us all without even introducing yourself (although that is just plain creepy)...everyone is welcome! Come catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and celebrate the start of haunt season! Here is a direct link for more information on Bob's, the location, menu, etc.: http://www.universal...te-Freedom.aspx (I'm sorry to report that they do not serve #hotdog) Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to attend this event...go figure. However, I want everyone to have a drink in my honor and take some pictures to let me know that a good time was had by all!

  12. Like I said, I was just wondering what you guys thought about the clue from Facebook, which could relate to Michael Myers based on the wording of it. It was just a question out of curiosity. You don't have to be so rude to everyone that has a question or a different opinion than yours. You do this all the time.

  14. I believe Carl will be appearing in each zone throughout the night, randomly, he might also appear in the houses.to find him will be the equivalent of Finding Waldo, LOL Uni could actually make this a game and give rewards to the person that finds him that night and takes a picture,

  15. I'm very excited to see how Cinespec plays into the street experience concept. Do not mention the word "change" to some HHN fans, you'd think someone had just peed in their Cheerios when everything isn't the same, every single year. Then if Uni doesn't try anything new, these same people usually complain how creative isn't "thinking out of the box" or trying anything different. I've come to determine that it's pretty much a no-win situation. For me change at HHN = a good thing Who wants to attend the same freaking event, year after year? It'd be like "Groundhog Day" Halloween style...

  17. Hell House = incredibly creepy and one of my favorite Matheson stories. Add the doll factor in and the creep -o-meter for this house goes through the roof in a major way. Taking us back to Carey, Ohio makes this one a winner already in my book.

  18. Hey all, I usually like to make a quick post about where I'm at each year once the big reveal has gone through. Looking forward to scaring anyone who comes through Welcome to my Nightmare.

  21. Haha, have you been inside of a parade building house? Some of the sets are the best I've seen, I actually prefer it to some soundstages.

  22. The latest email sent today says: So I think it's safe to say the house will feature only classic Universal and open domain horror. I'd love to see Mother Bates though.

  24. So many people love the Body Collectors, and last year the Nightingales were a big hit. I'm hoping these guys turn out the same way.

  26. usually in the past the zones would get their own little logos and pictures to go with it, like Esqueleto Muerte, one of my favorite scarezone look in the site, it was really pretty, the fact that they put all the zones in one group is not good, don't know why they would do this, I was hoping to see each zone have their own pic to go with the description, also, the site would have music or at least sounds coming from the site, moans, anything, right now is completely silent

  27. This is the one street experience I am looking the most forward to...the only thing that would make it better is if we had the opportunity to hit Shane or Carl in the head with a shovel. I'd pay extra for that.

  28. I Disagree. The Amazing thing about HHN is that it's like having a brand new theme park to experience each fall. Change is great, new houses, new concepts, (New Age of Darkness) But there was a lot of change this year, and a lot of trepidation about behind the scenes changes as well, that to be fair the average guest knows nothing about. I just think this wasn't the year to change up the streets on us as well, especially because they have become more and more immersive over the last few years. I don't know, obviously I can't really judge until the event begins, but those are just my thoughts right now.

  30. Man..idk how i feel about this Website update. I cant believe i'm saying this but...Hollywood has a slightly more creative website than orlandos. Hopefully they continue to update it a tad more. Maybe i'm just being spoiled? Past years updates have just seemed more exciting than this..idk.

  33. They've done this literally before, what they're doing is taking the zones off the map, but having them in their normal locations. For safety reasons they can't have actors running all over the parks and up and down on sidewalks and what not. Here is a way to break down how they're doing scarezones this year, think of 2008 how they had hordes and how they had hard scarezones, now image they're not on the map. That simple.

  34. THIS IS THE HOUSE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE 2006 (my first HHN)! I flippin stoked about this house. Im a Uni Classics geek (I named my Doberman Chaney for gawds sake!) and this is very exciting to me! Can't wait! I too and doing the RIP tour (I think thats it)... where you tour the houses during the day. I hope this house is on the list. Shit I'm excited!

  36. So excited for this house. I wish they would feature the Creature. It sounds like the "flash of lightning" is related to the strobe and light effects used in Dead Exposure.

  39. Man, can't wait to watch this forum erupt in a few short hours! Grabbing my popcorn now! And already predicting that Gothic will be my favorite house. Short name and all. =)

  40. Gothic? That's the city batman stays at! Seriously though, I also think that's a code name or at the very least only a part of the full title.

  42. I think I may be the only person in the world that finds the idea of possessed teddy bears, living in a Gothic cathedral a truly great idea. Lol. As a matter of fact hmm.....
    1 point
  43. Well, to be fair, "Depending on cultural influences and exposure it could mean a vast amount of things" could also apply to pretty much all your examples above. And Gothic, I would argue, is best known for the architecture style amongst the GP, which appears to be exactly what they're referring to. So I'd say it's a very accurate and descriptive title. We're all assuming though that there won't be a subtitle here. For all we know, the full title will be Gothic: Night of the Attacking Gargoyles. And if the house turns out to be full of possessed teddy bears, then I will completely agree with you that it is an awful, awful title.

  46. "Walk away from dinner". Maybe this is something in the past or entirely new. I was just listening to one of Penn's Sunday School podcasts where he states he has alcohol in his house for friends. He has no issues with other people drinking, He just personally never drank or did drugs. Very doubtful he would impose alcohol bans or limitations to Uni for HHN.

  47. While I respect that not everyone shares my joy, I'm really excited and looking forward to this house. It has become increasingly difficult for me to go without my requisite cheese during HHN, and I'm just as pleased as punch that they seem to have delivered again. I get the feeling this could be some pretty sick humor here. I hope I'm right, and I'm ready to go!!
