  1. Yes, that exactly! I have not been on here in months, but I have been hearing about the speculation and negative feedback, and it makes me kind of sad. Universal is doing a LOT in the studios, and what you all need to realize is, HHN takes up only 6 weeks of the year, and does not appeal to everyone. They have to think about the most bang for their buck, what will bring in the crowds on a daily basis for years to come, not just what the HHN fans want in the fall. I mean, really, what business would think this: "Oh, we can't tear down that building that's been empty for 13 years and put in a new attraction because it might disrupt our HHN business. Nope, gotta leave that waste of space there, can't piss off the fans." Yeah, not gonna happen. If we have 6 houses, we have 6 houses, and we'll go back to 8 as soon as we can. There are lots of areas for scarezones, and New York and Hollywood could easily be used with roaming scareactors and no set pieces. Sting Alley is still usable, and you know what, it is so amazing in there that you need no sets, because there are tons of hiding places. So yes, everyone, take a chill pill. We will still all go to the event, we'll all have a great time, no matter what is done. They can't always top every year.

  2. There are so many things I disagree with in this post... It's not a matter of agree or disagreeing. It's a fact that the event use to have less. And it was still amazing with less (my favorite year only had 6 houses). That's a horrible simile. Not only is the comparison wrong, it compares a haunt event to infidelity. Wrong. If consistency was key, we would still only have one house, no scarezones, and a show based on Mad Max. Change is a necessity to any thing related to theme parks. It's not Universal's fault that people interpreted, "New Era of Darkness," as, "More of the same." Depending on who you talk to, the quality has been on a general decline for years. Personally, i prefer a scarier event, and it hasn't been innovative or scary in years. I blame its popularity. You can't be truly scary when you're forced to design to a Congo line. But Brian Brushwood is fine? Fun fact: Penn and Teller performed at the first Fright Night in Hollywood in 1987. They, to a certain extent, are more Horror Nights the any thing we've ever seen in Orlando. I'll be honest, I'm not disappointed that I'm missing this year. I'll freely admit, though, that that's because Universal can't give me the type of scares I want. I enjoy scaring more than attending. However, the amount of incessant whining I am seeing about what may be coming is astounding. It's simple. If you don't like like what they're offering, DON'T F---ING GO! No one is making you attend.

  3. I was expecting them to. (I watched it as well) But I did not see anything. I even watched the Talking Dead afterwards thinking they may announce it there (Thank God they didn't). I expect it to happen soon though.

  4. to illustrate what Jeramy is talking about, I made sure to get a pic while at the park yesterday. At the bottom of this pic you can see some of the road looks to be torn up...

  5. That's a really good point that I didn't even think of. Issue 100 is due out by the end of the month, and Kirkman has hyped the fans up even more by stating that Daryl will be introduced into the comic book universe within that issue. I really hope they decide to hit all their bases and at least talk about the house a little.

  7. Damn I was really hoping Drew Carey was gonna spill the beans about the Walking Dead HHN house on the Talking Dead...and announce himself as this year's Icon

  8. Well back in 1998 when I first attended Halloween Horror Nights the event was very different from what it is now. There wasn't 8 houses or even 6 scarezones and I was still blown away. I was so hooked from going that year that I haven't missed a year since then. My point is whether it's your 1st time going or your 22nd time going it will never be disappointing. A&D will most likely make up for the lack of houses and or scarezones with bigger facades and effects. Everything will be ok. Trust me...

  9. i don't look at it as being negative its more along the lines of we are paying out the ass for tickets to a special event. We as a whole HHN fans and first timers want what they we paying for not some half done production. That be like paying to see Michael Jackson during his Bad tour and the it only thing on stage was a bar stool and spot light. I think there would be major disappointment from all that went,Yes you got to see Jackson but not in all the grandness that you had heard from others and seen on tv. Same goes for HHN there is a standard and quality set by years past that needs to be kept some how and price should not be a factor.

  10. Perhaps with all this uncertainty and disarray about HHN 22 maybe this is what Universal meant when they said A New Age of Darkness begins. Because we are definitely in the dark right now...

  11. I'm not a big poster, but wanted to chime in with all this negativity surrounding this year.. I, like many, only get to visit HHN once a year if that. have squeezed in 8 trips since 2001. With that said, people are focusing too much on the number of houses and scarezones. I'm expecting the most detailed set design and longest houses ever this year. These houses will eat up a large number of people with a bigger capacity. Although the Sprung tents may be limited on doing this, I don't see why making the houses longer would be an issue as the loss of house (s) + scarezones from previous years will free up a lot of the budget spent on employees, sets, etc. Why does this plan make sense? Since Comcast has taken over management of the parks, we've seen a crazy amount of new construction and revenue being put into the parks. I don't see them neglecting HHN just because they have invested in other areas. So bottom line- that budget goes somewhere; which I believe should lead to some awesome set designs for the houses this year.

  12. I just can't even begin to fathom all of the hate on this year AND IT'S JULY. JU-LY. Also, my sources told me that the icon is going to be the deer head and laughing lamp from Evil Dead II.

  13. A couple things I want to say. 1.Everyone's voice should be heard, either positive, negative, good or bad. We should all respect each others opinions, but let's keep it without offending one another. 2. We understand the love for this event and some of us treat it like another family member, but please breathe in, and breath out. Relax a little bit, let's just hang in there and wait to see what Universal has to offer us. Last year we had to close speculation discussion a couple times, we don't want to do that this year. Universal over all is trying to make the theme park experience better for everyone, not just the HHN crowd. They have a lot on the plate, thus the reason why all the issues are coming up regarding HHN. Even if we do have 6-7 houses, sure it's not 8 and were used to that.. but these could be the best 6-7 houses we've seen, we just can't judge that by what we have right now.

  14. Come on people lets not sling mud. We're all fans here. Doc I heard a rumor of a shift in the houses. Possibly that SH may be moved to one of the SS20's. I heard the News 13 thing too but I can't find mention of it. For everyone saying prices are increasing... Prices didn't really change Yes a single ticket went up 7.00 to $88.99... That's pretty much inflation. But for less (69.99) you can go to every night the first three weeks... Which is the same price as last year. That is still saving you over 800.00 if you utilize the pass every night. This goes for the FF and FF plus. No change in price. The change only affects those who go a single night... Which is typically the general public and a few people who just are really restricted in their visits. ...And annual pass holders save even more. I go three nights every year and I pay 54.99 to go. I think that is reasonable... even if the houses are decreased. If the crowds are big I may just go another night.

  15. The event will endure. We all will endure. Change always creates uncertainty... Which usually breeds negativity. I admit it's hard to stay positive when you hear things you like are changing. But change is necessary... and really the only constant. It's understandable why we may have the loss of houses and scare zones this year. There is a lot changing. But we cannot foresee how this will effect the event on the whole. I imagine bigger crowds with better houses. Roaming hoards (if it is true) has never really been achieved at Universal. But it's been done successfully at other parks so perhaps they will perfect it this year. I agree with the philosophy of ambiance over scare but that is my personal preference. But I imagine if we have a lack in one area Universal will try to compensate in others. So who knows the scares may be better than ever this year. Change breeds new ideas. and new ways of doing things. Take for example HHN X. When I went I really wasn't all that impressed. There were ball pits, rotating rooms, and other crazy things that were a real risk. But looking back, some of those things were amazing, innovative, and paved the way for things we have today. While I did not like Jack, He was the genesis for all the other icons I loved. Some of my favorite years were 6 houses or less. So while the crowds may be large, I'm still excited to see what transpires and I try not to be too concerned with "what ifs" until they happen. Bottom line most of us will go and most of us will have a good time. There will be pros and cons to the event like always. Have patience and try and remain open minded... To Universal: Now can we have a solid update? The natives are restless

  16. I honestly think all this bitching and moaning is hilarious. Get over it people. The fact of the matter is HHN is a seasonal event, and yes I do love it dearly just as much as you guys, but I like Universal Studios Florida a lot more considering it's kinda sorta vital to HHN. USF is getting HUGE improvements, and if the event has to suffer for one year I really couldn't get a shit. Here's the breakdown of what's going to happen. 1. Everyone's going to continue to bitch due to uncertainty 2. Some information will come out. Everyone will get excited then complain about it. (Just like every year) 3. Repeat step 2 multiple times. I like to call this phenomenon the Excitma-Bitch 4. A big reveal will happen. Everyone's excited about HHN. "This could be the worst HHN ever but I'm so excited." 5. Everyone goes to the event and the vast majority of us are STILL happy because at the end of the day there is an HHN with houses, and streets, and scares and booze. People bitch about the event year, in my 5 years of following speculation I've never had a year where people didn't complain. People complained about how bad New Line would be, how shitty Bloody Mary would be, the absurdity of an exclusive "Movie Year", how crazy it is to get rid of all the old franchises, a lot of things last year and my all time favorite how there was too much blue at the event. Point of the matter is people will complain. There is also a difference between being critical of something you've experienced and watching the trailer for a movie you're uncertain about but claiming it should win a Razzie based solely on that trailer. Come on guys, you're all going to go and atleast 75% of you will enjoy the event over all. Can we be bestfriends? And I'm really not trying to start a conflict but I wouldn't bitch if my parents were giving me a free vacation to Halloween Horror Nights, even if it was the "worst year". In a few years the days of free vacations will be long over and you'll be wishing your parents were paying the $7000 for your trip.

  17. Okay, despite the fact that these were initially posted on HHNRumors, I feel it's vital to share to the community as a whole. These are the first blatant statements about what MOST of the people with sources have been hearing about this year. I hope the mods recognize why I'm posting it in this manner. While it still could be false, it matches up with all the whispers. Throw in the fact that, from my understanding, the tone is very similar to our "Mutual Friend" from last year, this bears keeping in mind. Post 1 Post 2

  18. Many people love movie houses and many don't, many people prefer original houses and many don't. They simply can't please everybody... therefore I now predict that with this damned if you do, damned if you don't situation that this year the Event will be called: HHN CATCH-22
