  1. Critical Analysis would be fun to go with too, But solely because I simply cannot picture him going through the mazes Like I can everyone else. Does he smile? Does he walk around with a report card, grading as he goes? Is he writing on the forum as he walks through the house? (This is a joke btw respect for every one on here)

  2. Lots of y'all would be fun (in fact I ran into one person last year because he was wearing a HNN shirt ). BUT, Dr. Jimmy would be interesting because after the house he'd spent 20 minutes saying puzzling things that you can't decipher to explain if he liked the house or not.

  3. I'm bored. And kind of tired of hearing people complain about marketing. SOOOO heres a fun question! If you could chose one person in this forum to go to the event with, Who would it be and why? I'd probably choose Hunnylvr or Mystiquephreeq (sorry if I butchered the spelling) cause I tend to align most with their point of views and they seem pretty rad!

  4. I can tell you that this is definitely not true. Not even the SMs for the event know anything other than the 3 houses that have been announced, let alone anyone lower on the totem pole, and they all have big non-disclosure agreements. They're keeping it tight under wraps even for us. I highly doubt even marketing knows exactly what's going on until they get a briefing. The only people who probably knows what's going on is the show directors and the techs that are building the houses.

  5. A lot of you would be great to go with, but one who sticks out is Drummanmatt, so I can help show him around for his first HHN!

  6. ^You make me picture him as the Park Inspector from RCT3. That or Anton Ego from Ratatouille.

  7. Hunnylvr, but I think she already asked me to join her haha. I don't know why, I'm so gonna be a scardeycat haha I just answered my own question. That is the sole reason why lol. I'd do the exact same thing in her shoes

  8. Go ahead and take anything you hear about the event that's not official knowledge with a grain of salt. Everyone likes to act like they know some big insider secret but it's simply not true. They have no reason to tell anyone in the parks about the event until it's announced to the GP.

  9. All I know is uni employees were told everything. And told icon may or may not happen. That's it. By that and the soul collector theme my personal guess is we won't get an icon. My guess is that the original icon was going to be the dementors from Harry Potter, but it's just not happened in time. It fits the theme, and also the explanation why it didn't come to fruition. All it means is I need to get the money and time off work to come again (in the words of Apu) next year haha If we were supposed to have dementors I'm glad it didn't work out. My friend I was supposed to travel with is a Harry Potter freak. If she missed out on this I think she may have had a mental breakdown This is purely conjection. Not fact. I could be way off. I just feel that lacking a proper explanation this is plausible

  10. For the record the blocked comment was a joke. I was just ignored (as I knew I would be), but it was more about making the point that I felt pretty frustrated. As most people did that day too. To equate that to terrorism is just ludicrous. That's all I have to say on the matter. I do feel as as though we maybe were supposed to get something big revealed that day, but it just wasn't ready yet. Whether that's poor planning, IP holders being difficult, or whatever, there should have been a plan B in place when it became apparent that the deadline set by Marketing on the website was going to be missed. The whole thing really has left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth, as I'm sure it has done for others too. And I think it's only right that people voice their frustrations over this to help the team learn from the mistakes and grow. If no one at work told me I was doing something wrong, I'd continue doing the same thing over and over again, which could lead to something more serious happening than a simple error which I can learn from and positively improve my performance at work. In the grand scheme of things it's not a big gripe. The event will be great, well run, and very popular I'm sure. But in the world of consumerism even little publicity messes can tarnish the overall product.

  12. I'm new to this. I'm just saying what I've been told (whether it is true of rubbish). I just hope there's a proper reason for the countdown on Thursday leading nowhere lol.

  13. Thanks for that! I knew the stuff could be accessed on the Wayback Machine but I think some stuff didn't get saved perfectly. This looks good. I'll spread the word

  14. From what I hear the "icon" may or may not happen. If it does it'll be the biggest thing for HHN ever. If it doesn't they have the soul collectors as a backup. knowing the above I have a theory as to what is going on, and a good understanding why it is so difficult to pull off an announce. Marketing still suck. They should have had a plan B. But if they pull this off it'll be l majestical

  15. "In an on demand world like social media and this new engaging personalized marketing..I think we sometimes place our own expectations ....and I know for me I am constantly reminded myself as a fan pop culture that sometimes it's ok t look out the window... ..and take in the sights or feel the anticipation. Rather than needing to be behind the wheel or have your foot on the pedal." - Michael Aiello So please, can we all please lift our foots off the pedal? The last handful of pages on this thread have been the same complaint over and over and over again just worded differently by different people. Let's enjoy the anticipation while it lasts.

  16. I want to stress to anyone from universal that's might be looking and the rest of this board, and I think most would agree with me, our frustrations are only for the marketing. These three Houses we have so far are all absolutely amazing and will make awesome, immersive experiences. And I am thrilled that the Original house count is going up.

  17. My final opinion about all of this: Today sucked. Obviously. Big disappointment. But I personally think Marketing's actions shouldn't affect our opinions of CREATIVE's work. I believe Creative's successes can make up for Marketing's failures once we enter the gates. Bad Marketing does not equal a dead year. I think it's a very short-sighted way to look at things, to say it kindly.

  18. This house will just have a countdown clock in one room, nothing else.

  19. I posted this on Reddit, but I wanted to put it a few other places as well. Here's my mostly calm view on the situation, and why it was handled terribly. Take personal feelings and disappointment out of this. The "soul counter" ended today, and many of us expected something pretty good. Maybe not a full reveal, but something big since it's been going on for a month. What we actually received was a social media picture frame and a link to a sweepstakes we can enter daily (until September 1st). We'll focus on the sweepstakes, wherein you can win a trip for two to Horror Nights this year. Fun, right? Here's why it's an absolute garbage fire of an idea: The overall point of advertising and marketing is to create excitement and demand with the end point being a purchase. So, what does a sweepstakes do to promote sales? Absolutely. Nothing. It actually discourages people from purchasing tickets and/or booking a trip. They drive you to the site (potentially daily). You give them your information (which they probably already have from the Soul Collectors)....and then you wait and hope to win a trip. Not purchase tickets, add-ons, book a flight, hotel, etc. Because that will all be provided if you win. So what happens? Remember, we're talking about the general public here. Not the HHN faithful that have had their trip planned for months. Because that's who we can really influence with ads. Well...they wait until September 1st. Possibly forget completely about entering to win. Then they don't go on the trip they never planned. Now. Let's assume that maybe someone is still interested in going after almost a month (and then not winning). They assume since they didn't hear anything, they didn't win. But, that event sounded pretty cool. Let's price out a quick trip... Tickets are decently priced. Ok. How much for a room? Oh. Most of Universals on-site hotels are already booked up. Hmmm...guess I'll stay off-site. That's OK though. How much is a flight? Oh snap! those are some expensive tickets (because it's only two weeks from the start of the event at this point). Hmmm...maybe we won't go this year, but we'll remember to plan something for next year. Next year comes...maybe they forget, maybe they don't. But, the end result is no sales for HHN27. Sorry for the long example, but I wanted to submit an objective review rather than just saying they did a crap job this year.

  22. I agree, Uni Marketing either had to put way more money into other campaigns, or they tried something different and failed. I grew up in Florida and even though I never went as a kid because I was (and still kind of am) a total wuss, I still remember the iconic television ads that were run about Jack and the Usher and the Caretaker. It seemed cohesive and iconic. The billboards for it were cohesive and scary. I just can't believe that you create a month long countdown for a sweepstakes...I used to work in marketing for a Uni competitor in Orlando and I just can't fully fathom the thought process behind this...

  23. So the countdown was essentially the beginning of this sweepstakes?! Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?!
