  1. "I dont know how you guys are actually happy with this year or what they're doing". Maybe because we're fans of the event and like to have fun, and dont act ike we are some superior "fan" who is owed everything we want into the event? Heaven forbid anyone be positive about an event that is supposed to be a good time! Nevermind, they arent doing every single ridiculous idea that I want them to do, WORST EVENT EVER. Yeah man, everything offered this year HAS been experienced in the past, thats the idea of an anniversary. A&D got killed in 2010 for using ALL NEW ideas instead of just using the past concepts. Now they use the old concepts and you're killing them for lack of new ideas? Geez. This complaint is a massive stretch. When has there ever been cohesion from scarezone to house? Never. We went from snowstorm to acid rain one year. Oh wait, no, I'm wrong. The Walking Dead in 2012 brought a tie in from house to zone but ya know it doesnt count because it's the Walking Dead, a property responsible solely for ruining everyone's life. This forum is becoming a headache to read between people just whining for the sake of whining and people STILL to this day complaining about a lack of website, like that even matters at all once the gates open. It's just unbearable now. I hope they sell a tshirt that says "I went to HHN after 1991, and it was Awful", because theyll make bank.

  2. Well, as most of you had heard, Wes Craven died at 76 today after losing to brain cancer. You know what sucks? The year we were supposed to get Scream happens to be the same year the horror legend who made that great satire on horror passed away. Instead, Dimension screwed us and Universal by yanking the rights to it. That house could've been a a nice tribute to the passing of Wes Craven. Screw you Dimension and screw you producers of the (abysmal) show who own the rights to it. What a shame. R.I.P. Wes Craven. You were one of the greats. Unrelated: My dad happened to be a sound editor for his show Chiller.

  3. With people calling Jack Presents: Monsters and Mayhem "M&M" on here, I have to make a rather stupid visual pun. I apologize for this silliness.

  6. Seeing the speculated longest lines list made me realize how spread out the 3 "big names" are. While TWD is near Insidious, it has the "buffer house" in between it and Insidious. The Purge may pull in some, but I don't think it will pull the same number of people that Scream would have. It's just not as iconic yet. We have 3 originals right in front. I like that. It should help disperse the crowds and maybe introduce the GP to how amazing originals can be. The only issue I forsee is Run all by its lonesome in San Fran. Will the promise of a scarezone be enough to get casual fans back into that area? You have the stage show that can draw people from NY directly to CP and the other three houses, and Diagon (a huge empty spot) stands between Fear Factor and San Fran. Again, the stage show could draw people from MiB/Kidzone. Now, while I am lamenting this potential crowd flow that may not push people toward San Fran, I'm also secretly relishing the potential. If San Fran doesn't pull in people, maybe Run could be pulsed! *grasps her delusion and runs from any logic reasons why it is insane*

  7. Songs I can imagine will be in the queue line, hopefully in between clips of a queue video: Run Like Hell- Pink Floyd Runnin' With the Devil- Van Halen Run to the Hills- Iron Maiden And other more "upbeat" classic rock/metal songs. It fits the mood, I think.

  8. FYI - The Running Man is currently available on Netflix. We just watched it over the weekend for shits and giggles to compare it to the idea of this house. I TOTALLY get where Mystique sees the similarities between the two.. Once we watched the movie, and I re-read the description of the house on the Universal Blog, I laughed my ass off.. this is absolutely ripped off from The Running Man. I recommend watching it - talk about a blast from the past. heheheh If the music gods bless us then we should get Run to the Hills from Iron Maiden for sure.

  14. True, but I'm trying to think of an 80s song that makes you feel like running.

  15. Kinda off topic but it was announced not to long ago that Wes Craven died tonight. He created films like Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street. With such a horror legend passing away before his iconic character (Freddy) comes back into the park, I wonder if the design team will pay tribute to him in the FvJ house in some fashion. RIP Wes Craven.

  22. Plans are in place to deal with the crowds.
    1 point
  23. BUT... The stage and show have been there MOST of the events... sans 2008-2014. It may cause some congestion but it's a very common place for the show. I know the crowds are bigger, however, I would have to say 2007 was my worst experience for the crowds and Jack's show was indeed there in that location. Of course atmosphere I understand is a concern. Especially if he is blasting his show. There are set times of course so worse case avoid it during a show.

  24. Thanks. I try not to. Absolutely! I'm going to do a Process article on it. I don't know if you'd call it a DIY... more just how I build things. I tend to keep the progress stuff on my art page until it's finished.

  29. So what you're saying is it sounds like they actually built the house I knew this IP was capable of being ever since I saw the first one 4 years ago? Bring it on.

  34. Taking this with a grain of salt. You are the one who said Scream didn't get scrapped and was coming in the form of the TV show and that RHPS was returning for another year.

  35. This is my possible last strike on the 3D Houses if this amazing concept doesn't do 2008 scarezone to justice I'll be plenty disappointed. Probably make all possible future 3D houses my least anticipated it's worse than having TWD back. But it seems they put the Ultra Violent Comic Brand in showing that this will be different. Hope some costumes come back and also that strobe disco ball. So I'm on the fence on this one.

  36. From what I saw in the Disaster prop lot the entrance seems to be switched from pervious years, it also looks like the house may start outside in a fenced area. I'm going off what I saw over the backside of a skrim, so take my observation with the biggest grain of salt you can find.

  37. I'm super cautious about this house. Alice is PERFECT for a haunted house, and lends itself very easily to chromadepth 3D. However, out of FIVE 3D houses that I've been through (Jack's Funhouse 07, In Between 11, P&T 12, Circus of Superstition Howl O Scream 12, Afterlife 13), only ONE has been great (P&T and Circus were fun tho), and that was In-Between. Afterlife is bottom 5 of all time for me, Jack's wasn't memorable, but In-Between is the only house to actually use 3D in a creative sense, and actually add to the experience. IT was just a gimmick in all the others. My fear is that this house falls trap to that same problem, and the fact that it changed locations makes me even more uneasy. I'm hoping for the best, and I'm still very excited for this one.

  39. HHN fans complain.. it is what they do.. They complain when they bring IPs in..they complain when they have originals.. Reality is many people who attend HHN (who aren't hardcore fans) have probably never seen the original AWIL house. The house was a great house that they were super proud of so why not bring it back again for the anniversary? The way I look at it is.. if you aren't happy they are bringing it back.. don't go in it! I am excited for the AWIL house. I think it was a great house when they first had it so I have no doubt it will be a great house this time around!

  40. Diagon being open makes perfect sense. Not only is the ride a people eater, but it will keep some people off the streets while they explore the rest of the HP area. My guess is, everything including Leaky will be open. This way they can get the people who strictly come to Universal for Horror Nights addicted to Butterbeer so they have to come back. Plus, as long as they don't promote HP on anything HHN related, I don't think J.K. will have a problem...its more money for her after all. On a Horde note, the Psycho Clown horde is like my worst nightmare. I hate clowns (Jack is cool though for some reason to me...doesn't phase me) and I am not a big fan of chainsaws. Putting them together is not a good mix for me. Hope this is one rumor that turns out to be not true.

  41. There's some sort of preview event going on right now. Have no clue what is it, but here's some tidbits. People at the event are getting a tour of Walking Dead and Insidious. The Purge was the most successful scare zone ever, quote by Laura Wallace. Which explains why they made it a house theme, the whole Scream thing aside. They are reducing safe zones, increasing the size of scarezonesThe roaming hordes are Chainsaw Gang and Psycho Clowns.Belle and Cinderella (With creative use of her glass slipper) confirmed for ScreamPunk.FvJ Battles will use both live actors and video screens.New AWIL puppets are more actor friendly and should provide an even scarier experience.Expect a "Fan Favorite Killer and his bride" at the Die-In. Sounds like Chucky to me.Expect Live Kills in the Scarezones. They didn't specify whether they just meant Icons or not.RUN has chainsaws (Duh.)

  42. I love Alice in Wonderland and I loved the Asylum in Wonderland scarezone so this is my most anticipated house. I can see how a 3-D element could work well in this house, but I'm not sure it was necessary. Regardless, I'll just be happy to be in this twisted Wonderland.

  45. You can. They'll do anything to get more money. Narwhals incident can happen if you get unlucky and end up with someone new or not so bright at the services window. But lots of people upgrade with no issues. Just make it clear to them that you're wanting it for the rest of your FFP nights.

  47. Glad that you've already experienced all 9 houses and therefore could correctly make this statement. Which house was your favorite? As for 2 in 1 being A&D's favorite, that doesn't mean Hallowd Past isn't good.. it's just that if this house scares half as amazing as the sets look, we're in for a special one.
