  3. What scared me the most last year was there was this big group of people who sat dead center at the few shows we attended and they knew every single freaking line of every character verbatim. I'm not sure if that makes them stupid and wanting to be entertained, idiot savants because they retained the entire script of the show or just scary in general...or perhaps a combination of all three. I do wish they would return to comedy that has a more dry edge to it, these past few years have seemed forced and way too much slapstick for my taste. I agree however we will never see a return to the stunt show style, it's a dance off from this point onward.

  7. The very first year, 1991...good old Fright Nights. I was working in guest services at the time. Things have come a long way to say the least...that first year the scareactors had to provide their own make up and costumes and we had one measly house. How times they have changed! I guess it shouldn't, but it still amazes me that we went from that little locals Halloween celebration that first year to 22 years later being the premiere Halloween event in the country. Happy to say I've been fortunate enough to attend every year and see the amazing progressions.

  16. Perhaps it is because we all are such lushes during the event that they've had no real reason to up the prices much over the years considering that regardless they make a profit off of us. (And I'm merely speaking for myself...because this event is my drinking time of year.) Three words for the Caretaker having more hair these days = Bosley Hair Restoration.

  20. For the sake of semantics, the line is "Out for summer, out till fall", but that's just me being an a**. So there are multiple things I want to get across to you. The first, I agree that you're entitled to your opinion and I truly want you to give it if it will help with speculation. That last part to me though is key. I've been trying to avoid all of the bickering going on, as I find it completely unnecessary on a thread about SPECULATION. That being said, there are people on here who are trying to help everyone on this forum by using the information they know to add to the speculation. Without them, this thread would be mostly wishful thinking. If they tell you you're wrong, they're doing it to HELP you. There's no point in going on for pages and pages about an opinion which lacks any plausibility. Keep that to the wishful thinking. It's also unnecessary to be offended by anything that's said to you. We're all here for the same reason, and that's love of HHN. I've held my tongue prior as the best way to avoid bickering is to ignore it. But I do have a reason for saying all of this. I will agree to disagree if the time calls for it, but all you've done is give your opinion with no backing of an argument. The problem this causes is that when multiple people give reasoning as to why you are taking something in the wrong light, and you still form no solid argument for your own idea, it comes across as stubbornness. This is not an attack against you, I'm simply showing you that your argument is poor, and I would like to understand why you believe you're correct. Below are a few reasons why I believe your idea is incorrect. I shouldn't have to, but I ask that you please take this as constructive criticism. First, how do you define a "repeat"? In the form of a scare zone, it would be in the way of a repetition. With this in mind, the idea of an Alice Cooper scare zone would not only be a repetition of the house in Hollywood last year, but would also be a repetition of the house in Hollywood this year, AND the house in Orlando this year. Regardless of the title of the house, Alice Cooper is the IP featured in all three. In this way, an Alice Cooper scare zone is repeating three haunted houses. However, the "traditional Halloween scare zone" in the way you described it sounds unique to the Skoolhouse. If there's no longer a bus, a school, or a playground, then that sounds like less of a repeat to me than an Alice Cooper scare zone. What you're left with are kids in costume, celebrating Halloween. There is no story line, and the characters are as pedestrian as vampires, so it sounds as though nothing about it is a "repeat". The zone fits into the clue because we are a collective of HHN fans. For most of us, our first answer to the clue would have been the Skoolhouse. Due to the inability to have sets for scare zones, which may honestly be a plus to the event, the clue was referring to a group of children celebrating Halloween. Like many have said before, having an Alice Cooper zone for this clue would have been way too obvious, as well as it not being a direct quote. As stated earlier, there are people who have helped with speculation by giving away clues to information or steering people away from being incorrect. They have been correct so far, even with the difficulties occurring over the summer with the event. Doubting them is one thing, but doing it without giving a reason is just odd. In the end, all I ask is that you do two things for me: 1. Explain WHY you think Alice Cooper will have a scare zone. 2. I'm curious as to what you think an Alice Cooper scare zone would resemble, because to me it would just be the same as the house. Please describe. P.S.: Zombies are zombies. Although I agree that the GP will see zombies in the park and think "walkers", that doesn't mean that the roaming zone is a direct tie-in. Also, TV is bad for you, read the graphic novel

  25. We have clues. The person who offered us these clues will neither confirm or deny. You have said you will not confirm things. Do tell us how we are suppose to know we are on the right track in speculation? It is not wishful thinking. It is speculating on the known. Which is 8 statements from Dr. Jimmy. So unless you wish to enlighten us, or provide better clues, then just saying wrong means little to nothing. Or do we have to quantify each of our specs for you? This is why I think....I postulate this because.....Here is my essay written out stating my opinions, why I think they are right, all wrapped up in a conclusive paragraph... Definition of speculation: spec·u·la·tion (spky-lshn) n. 1. a. Contemplation or consideration of a subject; meditation. b. A conclusion, opinion, or theory reached by conjecture. c. Reasoning based on inconclusive evidence; conjecture or supposition.

  26. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents into this discusson. As someone who is not a veteran to HHN forums, I can say that I avoid posting in the spec thread because there's a pretty good chance someone will just tear your post apart explaining how you are wrong and they are right and they know everything. I haven't seen too many posts that are just guesses based off nothing, and those I have seen are from people who are entirely new to this. You're right when you say the whole point of speculating is to figure the event out, but I think it should be an experience where everyone throws in their ideas based off clues or info. Not everyone is going to guess the right thing based off a clue. One subject or clue could mean so many things to different people. That's what makes it fun and interesting. Unfortunately there are a few that like to ruin it for everyone else, and turn speculating into a place to 'show off' how much they know by shooting peoples ideas down. On that note I'm really liking the dragon pics, what if they had flying dragons? That would be amazing..

  27. If speculation can include ideas with no basis, then what's the difference between that and Wishful Thinking? In my mind, the whole point of Speculating is to actually figure out what is happening. It's a sleuthing game, and is the only reason I read the boards even long before I joined them. But in figuring something out, that requires that there be a "right" answer. If not, than someone could come in here and say "Nightmare Before Christmas" will be a house because no one can be wrong, regardless of the truth. Now, I want to reiterate that Lizz and Jimmy made two VERY REVEALING STATEMENTS about streets this year.

  28. Isn't pointing out that these speculated opinions are "wrong" taking away from the whole purpose of speculation? And how is an opinion wrong to begin with? Why not just let people run with their false/limited ideas? If we take the speculation out of speculation, what's the point in even discussing the event until we know every detail. Precisely! That's kind of the point of a horde...they show up unannounced and all. If the maps were to say "Horde in this location at 9pm"...that kind of loses the entire purpose of there even being one. That's what many of us have been trying to say, only if they evolve the event will it continue to remain relevant and fresh. Using the horde concept could be the catalyst to changing up what we've gotten used to for so many years now. Few people remember the early days when the scarezone concepts weren't as distinct as they are now in their placement...it would be nice to see it go back to that more loosely designated type of local. Yes, if memory serves me correctly you are right about the hoarde being close to the Hanna/Neutron area in the 90's, I just can't pinpoint what year it was either! It has been done in the past and it could very easily be done once again. And everyone needs to remember that a horde doesn't necessarily have to be massive to be effective. As I've said before, the smaller roaming groups work better because they can move easily in and out of tighter areas. And if you see a huge group of scareactors heading your way, it's a bit obvious as to what is going on.

  31. HEY GUYS! Remember that there are several members here with opinions that may not be as familiar with the event or how things work as some others. We're getting pretty tired of hiding posts because some can't stop acting like assholes to others with the witty remarks and sarcasm. This is a theme park event held for entertainment purposes. You are not some Norse god of Halloween Horror Nights. I'm going to start adding warning points leading to suspensions and bans when I have to remove a post because someone has to whip their e-peen out. Grow up and act your age.
