I also must be lucky because I have yet to really see any out right drunk people. I see people drinking, but never causing a scene. I did witness someone try and grab a scareactor in the FDTD house but security was waiting for them at the end of the house. also I'm with you both blinky cup is a must!

I remember seeing a good amount of drunk people last year, specifically in Chance's scarezone   They all wanted to heckle her, probably because they assumed she wouldn't be allowed to heckle back. One of Chance's friends handled the heckles like a champ, usually with a "Enjoy your hangover, honey!". One night, my friend and I also saw a young couple drunk off their minds go into Lunatics Playground and actually had to be escorted out because the house was tripping them out so badly. Honestly, I don't understand how people can afford to get drunk at HHN. That shit gets expensive after drink number 2.

I drink a solid amount while at HHN. I go between 4 and 6 times a year and the alcohol helps me from being too jumpy and also helps the lengthy task of waiting in lines. From my experience, I have never seen any alcohol related issues in the first few weeks, but once you are at weekend two of October, it gets a little out of hand. I would be really, really disappointed if they ever turned it to a dry event, but I would certainly understand.

I wish they would make a decent tasting drink of the year, they always seem to be the same mix of overly sugary mixers.

I always get the blinky cup :).  To me HHN is a vacation of sorts (probably my fave of the year) so I like to have a drink or two.  Like with any event there are those people who don't know their limits and end up vomiting in a corner or acting like a-holes.  I don't think it strictly applies to HHN though, I mean just take a walk down EPCOT's world showcase and you are sure to find a group of drunken college kids drinking (or puking) around the world.

Ok but in those college kid's defense, most of them are in the College Program and trust me, they need to get drunk at Epcot on their days off to survive being an intern there.

Speculation is so sparse because marketing sucks so bad we're now talking about other parks and traveling in general lmao.

And drinking!!!

speaking of which my only drunk person experience was in 2013 my first year with express and there was a huge guy probably in his 40s or 50s waiting in the regular line and as he saw me and my wife walking up he yelled to the people around him "the next person who passes by in the fastlane I'm knocking out!!!" He then stared me down and said  "I guess that's you!! I need another drink" and then lunged at me, I never stopped walking so he wasn't even close. I'm surprised there isn't more incidents because more people are drinking there than not

I hope the people in charge of marketing this year are going to get fired before next year, which is looking very likely right now.

Yea marketing really does suck.  Don't they want to spark interest again and announce something now that tickets are on sale?

This  will be my first time going to HHN.  My best friend and I are going.  My wife told me that we should make it an annual trip from now on.  I have a great wife!   I have to ask: is this the way things go each year as far as announcements go?   By the time I got flight tickets (I am from Canada), RIP tour, tickets to Universal, hotel, and HHN tickets, it is a lot to shell out essentialy sight unseen.  I am sure it wil be great and I bought in based on its reputation, but still this is not the way I usually spend this much cash.   Surely, they know what houses are being done by now?  And the pithy comments on the HHN Twitter feed doesn't help.  Anyhow, any perspective is appreciated.  I don't want to sound like a whiner, but a bit more transparency would really make me feel more comfortable with the whole thing.  Thanks.

Nothing wrong with getting drunk at HHN, so long as you're not an idiot about it.

This conversation comes up every year and there are always some people who blame alcohol consumption by others as ruining the event for them.  It's no different than any sporting event or concert.  Assholes are going to be assholes.  If there's no alcohol sold in the venue, they'll pre-game it...and also leave, have a few in City Walk, and come back.  Or buy the sun screen containers that you can fill with alcohol.  Or the Wine Rack bra.  Or the Beer Belly.  Or one of a million other ways to smuggle it in.

You're not going to have an ADULT oriented event in a place surrounded by bars that runs until 2am without a whole bunch of drunks.

But the irony is that most people I've seen fighting or cuffed or passed out drunk looked to be 16-18 years old and wouldn't be (legally) purchasing the alcohol in the park anyway.

For a 40-something year old who lives a 1,200 miles away with real life responsibilities this is my time to just have fun and that includes alcohol.  Sometimes in excess, but never a jerk about it and am safe with friends and taking public transportation or have a designated driver.

Please excuse me while I go google and purchase a "wine rack bra"

I already bought one for the sole intent on using it for HHN this year and so far it's awesome. We are going to test it at the park on Monday. My fiance and I love the event and go almost every night, so saving a few dollars each night on alcohol helps!

Random question for those of y'all who are coming to the event this year, what do you do to get yourself amped up for HHN? I know I love to watch "The Tim Tracker's" videos from past years, and the old Bill and Ted shows. I was curious if anyone else had these traditions.

Haha I had no idea it existed such a great idea! Let me know how it goes when you test it out at the park.

I like to look over old house videos and reviews from past HHNs, and sometimes commercials from past HHNs (idk why but this just pumps me up). Also if there is any IPs based on movies I haven't seen recently I will rewatch them to help me find those little details in houses.

Before I go to HHN I like to watch any of the IPs featured and watch youtube videos from past events. I also have a cheesy Halloween playlist on Pandora (Monster Mash, This Is Halloween, Ghostbusters, etc.) that I listen to while I get dressed and put on my war paint for the night.

Usually before I go to HHN I would listen to my HHN playlist on Spotify

  • Hollywood has been the target of Social Justice Warriors who are deeply offended by HHN themes.  They successfully got Bill & Ted show banished, as well as a face character that insults the crowds.  Both of these are alive and well in Orlando, because California is populated with whack nuts.  Contrary to what John Murdy is saying, Hollywood is not having AHS Asylum this year because SJWs attacked haunts last year that used any theme having to do with mental disabilities.  So Hollywood will lay off AHS Asylum theme for a couple of years.

I still see red every time I think about that fiasco.  A show that had been an HHN tradition for years was pulled from the event because one concerned parent got his feelings boobooed.  I understand that certain subjects can be offensive to people but they warn you before each and every show to expect those kinds of jokes and to leave if you don't like it!  Its one of my greatest fears that the Orlando B&T might get pulled because some SJW claims the show gave them PTSD.

I don't understand whatever happened to people just being cool.  Remember when "I didn't like that. This isn't for me." used to be a perfectly reasonable answer for most folks?

Really.  They think psychopaths are offensive to people with mental disabilities.  News flash, SJWs: most people with mental disabilities are aware that psychopaths aren't meant to be stand-in for them.  In fact, censoring psychopaths because of people with mental disabilities is even more offensive than just having psychopaths.

I love hearing about everyone's HHN traditions! Since news is scarce now, I'll ask another question to prompt discussion: Who here splurges on Express passes? I know my fiance and I do, but I have friends who avidly love HHN yet still don't buy it. I think for something I go to at least 20 times, it just makes sense. Thoughts?

I always splurge for express passes.  Right now I can only getaway for a weekend.  I live in Miami but it adds up to rent hotel plus food, gas, etc..   In the future, when I get more time off and can take a week off and maybe do the rush of fear or frequent fear and can go more often then maybe I wouldn't have to.

I think I'd still prefer to have them though, its nice being able to just take your time making the rounds rather than having to run to the big IP before the line becomes 3 hours long.   Last year I went the Sunday right after the hurricane closed down the park (I believe it was also hell week), and it was so crowded.  I still didn't have to wait for anything except like 30 min for Halloween.  It's so worth it IMO.  This year I am going Sept 24th which seems to be way less crowded judging by how much less our tickets and express passes were.  If the wait times are low enough I can save my passes for later in the night :) and do everything twice

I keep hearing stuff about people that went the Sunday after the hurricane and couldn't even do anything it was so crowded. I went that night and was able to do all the houses once without express and see Academy of Villains. I've never bought express out of the three years I've gone and I've never had a problem. You just have to go in with a plan.
