Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood 2012 Discussion

So... according to John on twitter, Sony approached him about an Evil Dead maze before they made the deal with knotts. But Murdy refused due to him not having seen any footage. He mentions on twitter how Sony pissed him off by not waiting and now he seems pretty sour on an evil dead maze ever being done.

Thoughts, DTH?

Hopefully Sony sweetens the deal next year, maybe adding in an extra property for half the price or something. I'm sure they've seen the log ride at Knotts and know their property wasn't represented fully (you can tell just from watching videos). And by the time HHN 2013 rolls around, I'm sure Evil Dead will be hitting DVD. So this will be a very good opportunity, that's IF both Sony and Murdy can get their heads out of their asses and swallow their pride (and their souls).

What Sony did is pretty bastardish though and almost like they're not even aware of what HHN does. How the hell is Murdy supposed to make a quality maze with NO footage? That's just stupid. I think Murdy was right to pass them up, especially if they were acting like that. Could this have been Amok? I wouldn't doubt it. The timeline matches up a bit. I think Murdy knows the fans want the ORIGINAL Evil Dead anyway.

I agree, its like Murdy was the boyfriend and Sony was the girlfriend who tried to get his attention by trying to make him jelouse its all random drama to be honest but I love the new trailer and hope (since the new one has no Ash and would not need a Bruce Cambell impersonator) that they can work something out also dont know if anyone caught this from twitter.

"@JenniferKalina I'm gonna be escorting a producer that wants to work with us next year...we'll be out and about...say hi if you see us"

"Fun night hanging with producer, director & star of Silent Hill Revelations, Eva Longoria & our friends from Blumhouse (Paranormal Activity)"

The only thing that is has me slightly worried about Evil Dead coming to HHN is that, as far as Ive been able to learn, we don't know the specifics of Knott's and Sony's deal concerning Evil Dead. It seems to me Knotts would have been smart to tell Sony (if this all happened at a point that they had there mazes set... Because of I remember correctly they originally had said the log ride wouldn't get much of an overlay) that they would use Evil Dead as a log ride overlay if they could use the property next year as maze concept, which would also most likely co-inside with the DVD release. While that's just speculation on my part, it would make sense to me. If they really believe Evil Dead will be a big horror movie next year, why not cut a deal with Sony to capitalize on that as much as possible?

If anyone knows about Knott's and Sony's contract concerning Evil Dead, I'd love to hear any real specifics about it.

That part I did know... It just seems like Sony was pretty intent on someplace using Evil Dead to help promote the film this year. Now I know I'm going on some if's here, so: if Knott's knew that Sony had been in talks with Universal first, and if they have confidence that Evil Dead will be big, it would only seem natural that they would work it out with Sony so that they get to use the property next year as well. Doesn't make much business sense to use the property one year, only to possibly have it go to a competitor the next year after the film has been released and gained a possible following by both horror fans and more general public. And seeing as Sony is paying them, it would only seem more in Knott's favor to work the deal that way.

Either way, sadly I dont think we will be seeing Evil Dead at HHN next year.

The only thing I know is that Knott's didnt pay for Evil Dead, Sony PAID Knott's to do it. The movie mazes at Knott's have always worked that way.

What a giant waste of money. Especially if they paid to do the Carrie scene in Virus Z.

I don't even like giving Knotts my $36 for entry!
