  1. Current employees of NBC Universal are Universal Orlando Resort (including Wet n' Wild), Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studio Japan. SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is currently owned by the Blackstone Group, who has unrelated joint ownership ventures with NBC Universal and others. While individually functioning entities, HOS and HHN aren't enemies or necessarily in direct competition. It's closer to a healthy sibling rivalry than it is cut-throat commercialism. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2009-04-27/business/tourism27_1_busch-seaworld-orlando-manta Check out the Our Mutual Friend thread.
  2. Universal's Halloween Horror Nights - Orlando (OFFICIAL) "In 2011 at Halloween Horror Nights 21 you will confront the paranoia and fear that comes from being trapped inside an Antarctic Thule station... A shape-shifting alien is on the loose… but where? It could be anywhere, or anything… Suddenly, you realize, you’re face-to-face with… 2011: The Thing" Well, that takes care of that. It's FaceBook official. : P
  3. You've misunderstood; reread my post for clarification, particularly the last sentence, and I think you'll find that I have the same opinion as you. Also, I know it's hard to read through everything, but I did post the following four pages back...
  4. I've come to agree that it does add very little. I don't need to be absolutely freezing cold in order to believe that we're supposed to be in Antarctica. I just need the right vibe. Hopefully they'll continue to be logical though. Like, it made sense to put Orfanage in the hottest maze location, much like it makes sense to place what's been rumored for that queue there this year, and I'm not talking about The Thing Prequel.
  5. I agree that Sting Ally would eventually make a great spot for Leave it to Cleaver to return. With all the little, quaint store fronts, you could really take the dark humor of that house and turn the scare zone into a whole interactive street full of merchants and commerce. "With a steady livestock of transients and town lawbreakers with which to serve, and a staff of volunteers who will preserve their town's deadly secret by any means necessary, there is truly no end in sight for Samuel or his family business." Also, we did have The Caretaker as well. Carey, OH, is riddled with wolves in sheeps' clothing, so to speak. Can't imagine that some of them aren't in on all the secret keeping together. Most importantly for me, I love that kind of acknowledgement of the "1950's American Dream" as being an aspiration never fully realized. Very American Beauty esque or Kubrick-ian in nature. This way of living that never really even existed to begin with. That's what made me love Cleaver, and separately I think why the concept of nuclear fallout is synonymous with that time period, why it fascinates so many people... Would the general public dig it? No, probably not. Would most of the fans? I'd like to think so, but, no, probably not. Would I? Selfishly, of course the answer is yes. : P I agree with all of what you said, Fearman. I think we deserve as fresh of a new start as possible. I, like you and others, am putting my trust in A&D at the same time though, which can be difficult, don't get me wrong.
  6. You've grabbed my attention again, mostly because I feel like I've missed something else despite checking the threads for HHNXXI regularly. Automatically, I thought of the Zombie Gras/Zombiegedon relationship we had last year for that location, but it's confirmed that there will be no scare zone there this year. So, possibly multiple buildings for this codenamed fairy tale/presidential house? The facade appears longer then it has been in the past, I'll trust the community's word on that one, but I don't know enough about the disaster queue to understand this development. Is there more information? Not trying to push, so forgive me if this theory is intended for small doses at a time.
  7. Here's pictures of the Scare Actor shirt that I bought during the 4th of July sale. Awesome product, great quality! Sorry this took me so long to post. I've been having problems with my IMGUR account lately.
  8. This is my most unfounded speculation, so members with greater knowledge feel free to step in and elaborate. SS22 for The Thing Prequel is absolutely believable to me. It's the most logical. Not to be that person, but I was a cast member of Dead Exposure in 2008, and I can testify. Those tents FEEL like there's no AC. Even on the rare cold night, I'd swear it was closer to 85° in the actual maze despite it being around 50-60° outside. I don't know how they compensated for that in 2007, but with this one being a theatrical promotion, and the fact that a lot of fans loved the original house, SS22 is a much more naturally affective area. More potential, more room, more control, more variables already aligned and out of the way. So that leaves us with the deductions that SS23A&B could possible be the WWI related house and the hospital of sorts. Does anyone think the two could be related thematically, such as the firefight and the aftermath? As I recall, not many thoughts were revealed on the spec thread regarding the WWI house, so forgive me if I've separated what was supposed to be a singular concept (the hospital is the WWI house). Side note... I swear we were told by our ASM and SM at the time that the tents weren't air conditioned...
  9. Can’t wait to go to the Regal Pointe Orlando Stadium tonight for the 12:01AM showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: An IMAX 3D Experience! Attending as well? I’ll be the one sporting a Hogwarts scarf in spite of this terrible, Floridian, July heat. lol

    1. Legacy

      Legacy

Um... you probably won't be the only one in a scarf...

  10. If we are actually getting a house for The Thing prequel, does anyone have an educated guess as to whether or not it will return to Sprung Tent #1? I know it's a little hard to tell because only a few code names have leaked for that location, but I was wondering if Universal would follow suite by placing it in a sound stage, like the other theatrical promotions, or if they'll decide to keep the staging similar to Assimilation, thus returning it to a tent. With the talk of a possible WWI house and a hospital also in the sound stages, I've just been thinking about where everything would potentially fit.
  11. Hey! Did you get your call back yet? I got streets for the first time and was curious if you had wrote it down on your application this year and actually gotten it.

  12. Got my call back for HHN, and I'm psyched to be in the streets for the first time! No more crappy, boot-legged photos! Hopefully, I'm an actual photo opp this year! : D

  13. I hope we both get called this week. : ( I work in Environmental Health & Safety, right behind the new Police building.

  14. No luck on my call back. : ( I know I'm not alone, but I honestly feel like I'm the only one who hasn't heard anything yet. I've talked to about a dozen different scare-actors who've I've become friends with over the years, and every one of them has received a call. One did tell me thought that only about 1/4 of the people have been called so far. Still feels alienating ...

  15. Yeah, Jobs... I have nothing rational for that one. And I've been hoping that The Thing Prequel would get it's own house since I found out about it. This is kind of separate, but what if private eyes and dicks are going to be used in some way this year? If there's a chance that we're getting some mob involvement, then I'd guess detectives aren't so far of a stretch for that time period as well.
  16. Ok, I moved this excerpt over from the Speculation II thread... As for Falk, Colfer, and Jobs, here's some loose threads that I came up thanks to wikipedia. Some of it's almost too easy, and none of it fits together all too well, but, hey, that's speculation. "Peter Falk was an American actor, best known for his role as Lieutenant Columbo in the television series Columbo. He appeared in numerous films such as The Princess Bride, The Great Race and Next, and television guest roles and was nominated for an Academy Award twice (for 1960's Murder, Inc. and 1961's Pocketful of Miracles)..." "Murder, Inc. is a 1960 American gangster film starring Stuart Whitman, May Britt, Henry Morgan, Peter Falk, and Simon Oakland...The screenplay was based on the true story of Murder Inc., a Brooklyn gang that operated in the 1930s." "Murder Inc. was the name given by the press to organized crime groups in the 1920s through the 1940s that resulted in hundreds of murders on behalf of the American Mafia and Jewish Mafia groups who together formed the early organized crime groups in New York and elsewhere. It was established after the formation of the commission of the National Crime Syndicate, to which it ultimately answered. Largely headed by former mob enforcers Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and Meyer Lansky..." "Eoin Colfer is an Irish author. He is most famous as the author of the Artemis Fowl series, but he has also written other successful books." "Artemis Fowl II is an Irish child prodigy and a ruthless master criminal. He uses his intelligence to building his family fortune through crime." "Steve Jobs is also a Beatles fan. He has referenced them on more than one occasion at Keynotes and also was interviewed on a showing of a Paul McCartney concert. When asked about his business model on 60 Minutes, he replied, 'My model for business is The Beatles: They were four guys that kept each other's negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts. Great things in business are not done by one person, they are done by a team of people.'" The Jobs one is a stretch, I know. All I can come up with is organized crime as a shared insinuation though. If any of this is pertinent, then this riddle is more long-winded than I am. lol
  17. That makes logical sense to me. But, then I found this via Google: http://attractionsmagazine.com/blog/2010/10/03/howl-o-screams-alone-haunted-house-offers-a-unique-personal-experience/ "Many park guests balk at the $34.95 extra charge to enter the house. But Busch Gardens staff has made it so the cost is eased if you look at the details. If booked online at MyXRocks.com, the charge comes down to $24.95. Up to four people can go through for the one charge. That’s brings it down to $6.23 to $8.74 per person." Can anyone clarify how this charge worked last year? Like, were there any stipulations, such as you had to purchase it at the same time as your initial ticket? If it was offered as a separate transaction, then I could see an extreme house as actually having potential for this year. I'd also be curious to know at what point in time was it announced to the public and how. Probably through the Hall-O-Scream site and probably sometime near the beginning of the season, but I know practically nothing about the event, so I don't want to assume.
  18. One year ago today I joined HNN! To celebrate, I became a Gold Dream Maker. : )

  19. I'm please to announce that I will be returning as a scare-actor for HHN XXI. But doing what? I have no idea, as per usual. hah Got a fat 50 cent increase though! : P

  20. I just bought a basic, black t-shirt with the ScareActor Part-Time Skull on it. : ) There's a 17.76% off promo code that runs through Monday. With the cheapest shipping, it brought the total price down to $23.69.
  21. Agree, agree, agree, and agree. I'm glad I'm not the only one with these feelings and ideas. As much as I want Atlantic City minus Cindy, if she is going to be an intimidate part of this theme, the casino needs to either be in Carey or very, very close to it... sigh. I really want a clean slate.
  22. I love your store! hah I really like the designs you've come up with and shall be buying some stuff very soon.
  23. At first, I thought you had a really good point, and I still think you do, but do you think Carey, Ohio is part of the cannon that's been laid to rest? Or because Cindy has been tiptoed around it'll be allowed to continue forward with her? The consistency of some of the icons' back-stories is something that's really frustrated me, and not just because of production complications -like what Cindy, Eddie, and Fate endured- but because of generally poor proofreading and fact checking, so to speak. I know there's a lot of amateur avenues for HHN information and history, and a few professional ones as well, but I think it's high time someone actually fashioned it's legacy into a biography of some kind. The archive site was a good start, but I want something tangible. Something else that equally frustrates me is that as a scare-actor I don't get to attend any of the VIP presentations or special salons that take place during the actual event. It's an extra disadvantage not closely knowing any of the regular fans who attended.
  24. The Atlantic City setting and time period for this theme makes me the most excited. There's a lot of historic material that could be fictionalized or used with creative license. I like it better than modern day Vegas, the Old West, or a ship style casino. I don't know why, but the riverboat idea makes me quickly think of Zombie Gras and its New Orleans/Cajun style. And, if stretched correctly, I think an official icon isn't necessary for this theme. A more static antagonist would be sufficient, someone to just lend their face to the event, and not necessarily be the central attraction. Like, have Lady Luck, Fate, or The Dealer, but let him/her be a device of the theme, instead of the theme being a projection of his/her psyche or character. Sort of a mix of how "What's Your Breaking Point?" was marketed/staged and how the Terra Queen ended up being used in Tales of Terror. More of a possibly, make them a device of the House -Mr. Grady, Overlook Hotel esque, not like how the icons were with Fear-. A&D would have more freedom with the individual house concepts if this was the case, and I agree with the people who've guessed that Universal might be trying out some new era dynasty house ideas. Oh, wow, a haunted house based around Dynasty... better stick with my day job. Or, at least jumping out at people for minimum wadge. : P
