  1. I am glad that Universal and AMC came to an agreement to still have a walkers street experience, even if it isn't officially part of the Dark Legions experience. It creates a great transition from the house to the street. I love how diverse the walkers look and they know how to blend into the crowd very well. However, I sat in the street for over an hour last night and didn't see a massive 75-person cast change. It is my understanding that the massive change doesn't happen every 45 minutes; sometimes the switch happens in the Disaster queue line where they put up the wooden fence sections. On Friday, there were a lot of walkers back there, but on Saturday there was only one. I REALLY hope that Universal delivers on their promise of this highly-anticipated 75 plus person cast change. Has it been confirmed to have actually happened the way they have been advertising?
  2. This is, by far, the best CDT I've seen to date - and it's only been one weekend! I have spent the most time watching the prisoners in action in New York and all I have to say is "WOW!" These ladies are truly amazing - they are loud, brash, intimidating, and have no fear of going anywhere and doing anything. After they broke from formation last night, I had one of them literally and physically run into me (probably out of her adrenaline rush) and yell in my face "Get out of my wayyyyyyyyyyy!" When I couldn't move because of the crowd behind me, she continued to yell in my face to the point where the situation actually felt real. I can't wait to see them get even better through the run of the event. There is a very high chance that we have our Legion of the Year (assuming that they replace their standard Street of the Year) award. EDIT: I almost forgot to say that I love yet another Carey, OH reference! Nice touch, Universal!
  3. I have never been a fan of vampires, but I do appreciate the wide variety of costumes in this hoarde. I will have to make more of an effort to track down the vampires to see them in action more than I have already done so. My best experience was having a group of them walk through the store while I was inside.
  4. While I never played the games (sadly), I did watch and really like the movie. It creates an atmosphere that draws the viewer into the Otherworld and makes one think about what each creature represents in the human psyche. As BSquare said, we have been asking for this house for a LONG time and Universal finally delivered a long-awaited treat! By far, this was my most anticipated house of the year. However, with very high expectations, could come some very big disappointments. I should just listen to my friend who always tells me not to have any expectations, for then I may just enjoy everything and not be disappointed. Hmm . . . I do feel that they captured the essence of the franchise, including the theming, but there are some things that I hope to see fixed over the next few weeks. The transition to the Otherworld doesn't seem to work as I had hoped, especially since the siren isn't loud or persistent enough and the lights don't dim when it starts. I was really hoping for a Psychoscareapy-type effect with the transition and the siren. Secondly, where is Pyramid Head's blade? And why does he run down the hallway? He is a truly iconic character who needs to be portrayed with precise detail. Thirdly, the nurses are not nearly crowded enough. Why are they off to the side and not staggered in the middle of the room like in Dead Exposure? I will say, however, that the nurses are amazing. I love the costume and the scareactors who play them are incredible. Last night's finale scene was very intimidating - good job ladies! I do have this house ranked number four right now, and I do have high hopes for this house since changes can still be made. For example, when walking through the bathroom scene on Friday, we all wondered where the janitor was (why is his stall empty?), but he appeared on Saturday night. Despite my criticism, I have to give a big thank you to Universal for giving us this house! Incredible!
  5. I guess I didn't do enough research on Alice Cooper's music because I, too, didn't get this house. It seemed like a fuddled mess regarding theming and the music was not nearly loud enough to even tell you what track you were "living" in each room. I know they had the names of the tracks written on the wall before entering the room, but the music should be more integrated (and louder) in the house. I met one of the scareactors who works in this house and he did help me better understand the flow from room to room, but this house doesn't make sense to the average (or even above-average, such as ourselves) guest who visits the park. To me, this worked in Hollywood because they have a different crowd out there. It doesn't work here.
  6. I, too, will say that this house needs a lot of help. While I understand that the Soundstage 44 debacle created quite a problem and appreciate the fact that A&D quickly adapted to a situation that was out of their control, I hope that this house improves over the next few weeks. WESKER69, thanks for the clarification regarding the sets and the costumes - it really helps explain the issues that we all have seen with this house. I will also say that I cannot give this house a full judgement yet since I only went through twice, both times being during the AP event. Therefore, it was way too dark and I couldn't see anything because my eyes weren't adjusted. It was so bad on Friday night that we constantly were walking into walls because there was no one in front of us. The stobes didn't help and I didn't see half of the scareactors (this may have been a timing issue); I couldn't even tell what some of the scenes were until the second run-through on Saturday. I agree . . . Universal, please read these posts and fix a house that desperately needs it. This was a very highly-anticipated house for many people and we want it to do honor and justice to the true legacy of horror upon which the studios were built.
  7. Before the announcement of the Walking Dead to be part of HHN 22, I had never watched the show. Over the summer, I watched AMC's The Walking Dead marathon so I could become more excited for the house. I loved the show (both seasons) and had high hopes for the house based on the scenes from the show and the hype that Universal has created for it. While the first half (maybe the first three quarters) of the house is truly great, the rush of terror kind of dies when you reach the RV and the barn. I guess they are trying to capture the feeling of remorse from the second season, but it's almost as if they put a damper on the excitement. All of the scareactors are doing their parts very well (shoutout to the last patient in the hospital - you know who you are! ), but I hope to see the last few scenes amped up over the next few weeks. I will agree that my run-through on Friday nights was a little lack-luster, but parts of the house were very full last night. There were at least 14 walkers in the department store scene alone! I'm also a little confused about the massive cast change that was supposed to happen, where 75 walkers were going to be invading the street. We sat in the street for an hour and saw nothing. Big let down, Universal. Please change this to fit what you are advertising.

    Gothic

Oh, I guess this is Kathy's friend from the Forsaken who makes a similar appearance this year in Gothic. You are very highly spoken of, my good sir. Regaring the house itself, I do agree that it is the most beautiful and awe-inspiring house I've seen to date (since first attending in 2002). The grandiose feeling that the cathedral provides is unmatched. Furthermore, the scareactors (all of them) are truly amazing! The mirror trick is being used better than it ever has been before. The theming, the sets, and the energetic casts will make this house in very good contention for House of the Year.
  9. I second the Legendary Truth 2.0: The Hartford Mansion comments. However, it is much elevated from the Wynadot Estate house. The effects are amazing and the scareactors are very into their roles. The technology tops that used in 2010 and the scares are well-timed. The facade is most impressive and the theming of each room captures the essence of a true haunted mansion. This is in my top three houses of the event.
  10. I'm going to agree with everyone here and this is currently one of my favorite houses this year. Both casts are amazing and the interactions in the house are very unique. I didn't know about the slot machines - I wonder what other tricks they have hidden. I have to say that Roy being mauled by the Bengal tiger is a brilliant touch. We were caught in the deluge on opening night, but missed Penn & Teller's meet and greet by 20 minutes (we were trying to get out of the Level 4 whitewater river between the parade building and the sprung tents). We were told they were in the house last night, but we never did see them. I love how they take their fans seriously - a trip to the park (or in the house) would not be complete without interacting with the fans. Great guys with amazing talent!
  11. Oh, is there a special program where you guys get recognized for going above and beyond? I think this is great as it will inspire much creativity on the scareactors' part. I can personally attest that I saw the following between Friday and Saturday night at the event. - a group of vampires walking through a store - several beasts pounding on the windows of Mel's - two prisoners ambush a group of girls as they exited the bathroom (literally right next to the exit) - a group of various members of each hoard storming through Louie's tonight while we were eating dinner - it was nice and peacefull listening to Frank Sinatra and eating our pizza, when BAM!, two warriors came flying in from the street and (along with about ten other scareactors) marched around the restaurant screaming and yelling -- this was truly amazing: excellent job!!
  12. I'm the one you met in New York tonight. Sorry I couldn't attend, but I had to drive back to St. Petersburg tonight. As you see, I didn't get right to bed, but I needed to get me and my friends home. I'm still pumped about the past two nights, but I'll try to sleep soon. Thanks for the invite.
  13. I saw the games on Friday before I left home and didn't understand at that time that I had to pick up a card in the park. I simply registerd, shut down my computer, and left for the hour and a half drive to Orlando. I was walking out of the park tonight and saw TJ at the counter. I talked to him about the games and he told me that there are already more than 600 people registered already and they have a capacity for 3,000 cards. Of course, this was at 12:02 am and he had just shut down the registration. I hope that there will be some left when I head up next Friday night. I just wanted to give everyone some numbers, directly from the one in charge. P.S.: A special thanks to TJ for spending time tonight to talk to us about the creative minds that go into creating amazing HHN events and especially the interactive games for the superfans like us on the forums!
  14. As always, the scareactors are amazing this year! Special shoutouts: 1) My absolute favorite is the Traditional in the fox mask who leaped off the sidewalk next to Twister on opening night and began screaming in my face for a good minute straight. I understood that all you wanted for Halloween was to go trick or treating and get candy, but your mother would only give you marzipan. I LOVED your interaction and it was even better seeing you again tonight - you recognized me! If you are on the boards, or if anyone knows who this is, please let me know! 2) Armyofrobots - you are amazing as always. Thanks for recognizing me yet again this year. 3) The jock in Alice Cooper who didn't "approve" of my Vault shirt, but reconsidered once I told you that my Nightmares shirt got completely drenched in the torrential downpour on opening night. I didn't realize that there were so many HNN members in the Alice Cooper house. <waves at Carnage> 4) I second the opinion of many others - the Gothic casts are incredible. Keep up the amazing work! 5) Why were there about 14 walkers in the department store at the same time tonight? We were literally surrounded and were amazed at the enclosed feeling you gave us. Very well done! 6) There are too many others in the streets to mention specifically, but the Prisoners and the Warriors are truly great! Very intense and I look forward to watching you all become even more intense throughout the run of the event! *As a side note, I was amazed that the "there are no safe zones" is actually true as we did witness a Prisoner ambush several girls coming out of the bathroom, a group of vampires walking through a store, a group of beasts beating on the windows of Mel's, and (my favorite) a variety of members from each horde (but mostly warriors) march through Louie's tonight while we were eating dinner creating havoc in the entire restaurant. Each time, these groups were led by a team member with a glow stick or wand, but I am impressed by Universal's willingness to finally take down the walls and create no safe zones. *And one final side note, thank you TJ Mannarino for taking the time to talk to us tonight at the Horror Unearthed table around midnight. You and the rest of the member of A&D really know what the general public needs and what the superfans need at the event. You always take the time to interact with your fans and it was a pleasure meeting you tonight!
  15. I'll be attending on 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/6, 10/7, 10/12, 10/19, and 10/31. I will be wearing a HNN shirt on most nights. As always, I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones throghout the HHN season! Half the fun is sharing the experience with other superfans such as yourselves!
  16. I don't know if I just missed it, but I think that JWFearman's speculation about the tents may be true. I took a picture yesterday that just may show one tent missing. However, I couldn't get a better angle from which to see the space. Can anyone confirm this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/69468157@N02/6931851387/
  17. Pretty phenomenal - how did you get access to all of the houses like that? Thanks so much for sharing!
  18. The final minutes of 7 - you deserve SotY! I was lucky to be there for the final photo. 7 cast photo
  19. You haven't been active since October 12 - what a slacker!

  20. It was nice meeting you on Halloween night - you did a great job through the entire run of HHN21, it's just a shame it took until the last night to officially meet each other.

  21. It was nice meeting you on Halloween Night during the HNN group photo. Maybe we'll run into each other again next year, which can't come soon enough!

  22. I'm glad we got to spend the last few hours of HHN21 together. Between you and Uncle Fred, you really made the night fantastic! Next year, we shouldn't wait until the last night of the event to spend some time together.

  23. It was great to meet you on Halloween night and it was even better spending some time with you, Kathy, and Mike! Truly one of the best nights of HHN21!

  24. Thanks for the special attention and the great interaction in H.R. Bloodengutz during every run of the house! You deserve kudos for getting into your role so well and I hope to run into you again next year. Keep up the great work!

  25. Thanks for a great HHN21! I always looked forward running into you and being sawed to pieces. Scareactors like you make the event what it is: scary, exciting, memorable, and interactive.

I can't wait to see where you get casted next year!
