  1. As an HHN frequent visitor/Frequent Fear Passholder for the last 14 years, all I really want are the feelings and emotions I got when I walked through the smoke screen of the Caretaker at the Port of Evil, or while watching the elaborate and well-themed Terra Queen’s ritual or the goose bumps of walking up to the BEATIFULLY decorated front entrance of The Carnival of Carnage. I want the “retro HHN” back, instead of this conglomerate-ran sell-out of an event it has become. Bring back elaborate scarezones like Fright Yard and Field of Screams. Bring back the well-made queue videos reminiscent of the original Body Collectors or Hellgate Prison. Bring back the thrilling and INTERACTIVE houses like Terror Mines. And PLEASE get rid of the terrible dubstep garbage music that was pumped through the park this year and bring back some Midnight Syndicate. And don’t even get me STARTED on the websites and back stories. How in the world do you go from creating websites like you did for Ripped From The Silver Screen and The Carnival of Carnage, to just filling your site with copy+paste images and text with embedded YouTube videos?! I don’t think I’m asking for much, especially when the prices of these Frequent Fear Passes go up every year. As far as HHN 26, I’m more excited to see how they’re going to execute the event with all this limited space and with The Walking Dead “supposedly” being gone, than the actual event content itself. Is this the year we’ll get the “mega-HHN” people love to rumor about with both parks being completely open? As far as an Icon goes, I don’t really care what or who it is, as long as we have a “face” for HHN. I’m tired of IP logos being the “Icon” of HHN for the past couple of years. It’s so sad to see where the event has come. Maybe I wouldn’t be nagging if they were making-up for all their aforementioned “mistakes” if they were pumping out some quality houses and scarezones. Mind you, Universal’s houses are the best in the business when it comes to design and theme. But we’re not getting BETTER haunted houses. We’re getting the same houses we’ve been getting the past few years, if not worse. Removing effects from houses just because a microscopic percentage of your guests complain or get “hurt” is not a valid reason in my books. But hey, at the end of the day, yes I will be there on opening night with my Frequent Fear Pass (with Express) in tote and I will enjoy myself as much as my nostalgia will let me.

  2. Halloween Horror Nights 26 (2016) will be on select nights from September 16 – October 31 (which is a Monday), What would you like to see at Halloween Horror Nights 26? Older Icon, new Icon? 8-9 or maybe 10 houses? Disaster house will be gone, Twister queue gone. New tent?, new parade building? 2 houses in current parade building? Where do we go now!?

  3. You know in hindsight, they made a really huge mistake in not including The Usher on any of the merchandise; as it seems he was far and away the most popular character in this zone. His stage pretty much always had a crowd around it, and he got the biggest cheers when he made his final departure.

  5. Ugh gonna miss this zone like crazy. Literally could have spent all night here. I'd also like to say that the usher from the last cast last night deserves a medal. Really from the start he's showed so much dedication and put so much into his character. I hope to see him back next year.

  6. * Queue videos * Decorated entrance * Elaborate website * Memorable ambient horror soundscapes throughout the park * Decorations throughout the park to add to atmosphere outside of scare zones * Immersive scare zones with less actors (so more money can put to the sets) * An entrance zone that's worthwhile * A sinister theme / dark icon (eg: The Priest) * One less house to permit more elaborate house sets * No IPs * A story that ties in the event as best as possible * Removal of carnival games * No chainsaws (they are old), no zombies, no clowns * Increased ticket price for an increased budget and to get rid of undesirable guests * Another dark comedy house a la Home for the Holidays, Leave it to Cleaver, H.R. Bloodngutz, Dungeon of Terror: Retold * No 3D house * No repeat of a previous house

  11. I'm thinking we get MIB Queue as our new ninth and they find an alternate way into SS24(A). That's the impression I'm getting. IPs: No Walking Dead, gonna cross my fingers. I feel like we'll get FTWD, and marketing will say "IT's DIFFERENT!"With Ash Vs Evil Dead, I'm thinking maybe that or Army Of Darkness. Likely Army since apparently A&D does want that?Conjuring feels like a gimme.Purge feels like a gimme, house, scarezone, or even roaming hordes. If we continue the "Throwback" IP houses, A&D wants to do Killer Klownz right? Feels like this could be the time.IP Predictions (I'm shitty at wishful thinking, so I'm just predicting): Fear The Walking Dead (I'm not believing it's gone until I see it's gone), The Conjuring, The Purge - Origins, Army Of Darkness / Ash Vs The Evil Dead, Killer Klownz From Outer SpaceOriginals: I'm crossing my fingers myself for Jack Vs Eddie.I feel like Nightingales could finally get it's goddamn sequel, which has been rumored since what, 23?Legendary Truth, after what's been heard from the experience this year, seems like a somewhat shoo in for this year, even if it doesn't relate to the story presented, I could see the name itself being used, similar to Wyandot Estate. Perhaps that scrapped house from 24, about the creatures under the bed, that was 3D?I'm hoping Urban Legends continues this year myself, because there's so much out there to use.I'm thinking we either have Eddie and Jack coiconing or the other person, who I won't mention since LT spoilers / leak.Original Predictions: Jack Vs Eddie (Them as Icons or Not), Nightingales 2 (with Street Crossover would be nice), Legendary Truth 3D, Urban Legends 2Trick R Treat and Krampus / Dark Christmas as wildcards.

  12. I would really like to see if they could bring Leave It To Cleaver back like they did Run this year.

  13. Don't expect it. It would be very costly and very difficult for universal to acquire such a property from a rival company.

  14. The final show was a lot fun, everyone in the audience was really enthusiastic and there were some pretty hilarious line-deviations (the highlight was when Chance did a big deviation from her "What's funny about a knife?" joke, which got a lot of cheers from the crowd). And as many people were expecting, Jack did indeed remark that he "killed Twister". Going to miss this show.

  15. I just think Carnage Returns and Carnival of Carnage are two totally different type of shows. Carnival had more of a storyline and interplay between the characters whereas Carnage Returns is more about Jack and Chance and being a huge show and about the kills. It is the biggest show they have ever done. I think it has gotten better since Team Member preview. It feels like a tighter show because there were some parts that dragged the first night. It is different than Carnival and each has their own moments. If anything I think the only screw up HHN did this year is not having any Chance merchandise. I don't know if they realize how popular she has become.

  17. The Doctor: Wearing scrubs and mask, portions of his face and body that are visible are covered with crude stitches of various materials, because he practices his procedures on himself as well as his patients. I also picture a gas mask slung over his shoulder and canisters on his back, from which he takes frequent whiffs. Media gift: A donor cooler, complete with dry ice; when opened the mist pours out. Inside is a rolled up piece of skin about the size of a paper. It spells out its message in sutures. A couple of sutures are unfinished, with strands of suture trailing off. One has a forceps attached to it. The other a needle. Also in the box is a fake driver license with a donor sticker. HHN 26 graphic: Back to Roman Numerals, we see "HHN XXV" with an "I" crudely stitched onto the right side of the "V". Or a "25" with the 5 deformed to close the loop, stitched into place. Operating room lights shine down on the logo, which on its back on an operating table. Tagline: "The Doctor is out. Of his mind." I know that's so cliche, but I couldn't think of a better one...

  18. The Judge: I'm picturing a more menacing male version of the Storyteller, with a powder wig. He can turn his gavel into a spiked mace with a push of a secret button. Media gift: A bloody gavel/mace with bits of hair and gray matter on it and possibly a well-used noose. Or possibly replace the noose with a bloody juror badge. Taglines: "Don't you love a hung jury?" or "He's the judge and executioner...because the jury is hung". Icon house: Follows the gruesome sentences that the Judge has imposed upon the guilty. It culminates in your being sentenced, so you must choose your sentence (path) resulting in a final room where you meet your unique punishment.

  19. the only reason I did not buy the Icons shirt this year having Chucky in it was kind of dumb. Usher is my favorite since 2009 but I found it really weird that there was nothing with him. pretty bizarre actually

  22. how in the blue hell do you go in a house 29 times!?!??! Doesn't express pass only grant you to skip lines only once per house?
    1 point
  23. It might've been a cast change. Out of the 32 times I did the house, the only times Meatz was missing was during a cast change. They threw Eddie in Icons for the last weekend or two, so if you didn't see him then, that's why.

  25. Am I the only one not 1000% skeptical on another Legendary Truth house? Do we all remember how cheesy and poorly done the first one was? I'm totally okay with the online interactive experiences and everything but I'm not sure if I want another disappointment house. One thing that I would like to see going off a lot of peoples wishful thinking is a Silver Screams 2. I don't think something like Krampus could be a whole house, I also feel the same way about the Sinister series, but they would totally work in a section of a house, we could definetly see the strangers again, universal really seems to like using them. Carrie and the first Woman in Black would work in this house too. I don't want the Purge back, I loved there house this year but I don't want it overdone like the Walking Dead, if they must have The Purge or TWD back I say make it an interactive style house such as Zombie Containment Unit at Howl O Scream. Team up with Hard Knocks of something and borrow technology so we feel like we're actually purging or hunting walkers. That or keep it contained to a scare zone. I would also love to see something like Havoc and Leave it to Cleaver make it to the streets.

  27. As much as I doubt it would happen, I would LOVE to see the long-awaited return of Eddie as our icon. It would make sense, too, as this year there was a major emphasis on chainsaws, a cameo by Eddie in Body Collectors, and last but not least, his last-minute addition to RUN and the Icons scare zone. It probably won't happen, but a man can wish, can't he?

  28. trust me dude... if you ACTUALLY hot 6 houses, it would have felt Much much different than it did... not only in crowds and wait times but on the fact that you had 3 extra houses that you could walk into if you felt bored. a repeat house will always be better than an empty building that is off limits. as much as Werewolf was disappointing, it was nice that you had the option to see the actors and the sets again.

  30. Popping in from lurker status for a couple shout outs to this amazing cast. From the B&W cast, the Bride of Frankenstein and Dr. Frankenstein both had great interactive moments with my friend while we were hanging out in the zone at our usual bench. (Dr. F asked how my friend's "experiments" were going while she was checking the world series score on her phone). As for the color cast, major kudos to the two ladies playing the Strangers. Same friend and I were hanging out in the zone, watching everyone do their thing, when these two stopped by the bench we were sitting at. They stuck around and stared at us for about three minutes, which actually succeeded in making me kind of uncomfortable (mostly because I'm awkward and don't know the etiquette for these situations). Finally, the "Dollface" girl decided to get things over with and "stab" me a few times before moving on. Probably the most fun scare zone moment I had all year.

  31. Not gonna lie, I got a little choked up seeing the icons do their kills for the last time and seeing all of the characters make their final exit from the zone. It was so wonderful seeing them all again after the themeless IP maelstrom we were put through in the last three years. Those years made me really take into account as to how much they truly make the event. Only downside was that Eddie and Lady Luck weren't in the final cast, but oh well.

  32. That's basically the reason. The GP goes really nuts for modern horror characters like Freddy, Jason, and Chucky; whereas the likes of the Universal Monsters and Norman Bates are a lot less appealing to them. The B&W cast is something that appeals more to classic film fans (who usually tend to be a bit more civil).

  33. I went two nights both nights the announcer wasn't there. but I don't think it would have made the difference if I like the house or not. It didn't feel like the purge but it felt like scream but with the wrong actors and graffiti. And BTW I'm the biggest scream fan boy u would ever meet I know the movies I'm and out so I picked and saw past all the purge graffiti . If u had to ask Mr is this my favorite this my favorite house no it's not. But is it my least favorite house no insidious was

  34. I do this thing called "Bench Surfing" where I observe the scarezones by zigzagging the zone across the benches and curbs in a figure 8 (a pointy one). My favorite scare ever in a scarezone to watch was in American Gothic. The tree guy who was standing in the dark next to a tree on stilts, dressed like a tree, being a tree, and leaping out at people got EVERYBODY. S/he jumped out at one out of every 50 people or something but got every single one of them. It was interesting to see.... It led me to theories on fear. Women scream, men go to Fight mode. The outlier was the one group of girls who literally fell to the ground. I cannot explain that in evolutionary terms, except that .... I don't know... Don't breed with them? That is to say ...... I'm happy the hiding trees came back this year because I think it's one of the purest expressions of fear that comes from HHN, because you guys were either there then gone or just making that sound (THAT SOUND)...... So it wasn't like a normal jump scare where you get to look at the thing that jumped at you and then feel safe because clearly Shrek isn't actually going to kill you. But that tree .... There may be another one ... and another one .... and another one..... So at first I was honestly pissed a little that this won scarezone of the year vs. public/my opinion (and of course those are different) but now that I think about it ... In all five thousand visits to this scarezone I was definitely on edge the whole time. I didn't get any Scares this year, here or otherwise, but I definitely never felt immune from it in this scare zone, and that's saying something. The whole time it felt like with an even lazily-put-together-effort or just an accident I could've been bounced through this zone ...... Kudos for Dread.

  35. I was lucky enough to be the last person through this house last night! Shout out to the awesome guy I met in line, I know he's on this forum and I'm still waiting for him to text me his name! It it was pretty magical to be there for the end. I got every scare, a bear dance, and almost every time I waved at an actor, they waved back. What an ending.

  36. I went through this house again last night and there was an inflatable wall before the house with all the off'd heads... WTH - they added stuff right up until the very last day?? Since I can't vote for 25 for house of the year (it's more than one house!) this blows all the others away. I'd say I wish I lived there but .. I .. I really don't..

  43. I have to say, I really like this house. I think a big part of it is the music, which I find extremely fun and fitting. I've been listening to it on Spotify all month. I think a lot of the appeal to this house is personal interests. I really really love just how trippy it is, and that kind of disorientation it super cool to me. But, I can totally see how someone who doesn't really care for that aesthetic wouldn't care for it. I'd say this is one of the more divisive houses of the year.

  45. I've currently found 3 projection windows: 1. Above the food truck, visible from the burning gazebo when looking toward the lagoon. 2. Above the Mummy merchandise store. 3. Across from the Blues Brothers stage. Keep in mind that there are also scareactors along that street, with the Blues Brothers stage and police car, and even actors next to Transformers. They also added a water spray to the apple bobbing victim to finally give the endless selfie takers something they deserve.

  46. Add in a Catacombs room and I 100% agree. Also, turn the finale into a room with ALL icons, not just Jack. Take out HAVOC, Forsaken, and Castle Vampyr rooms to make all this happen. I was hoping for a wider variety, but I LOVE what we have sans those 2 rooms so I can't really complain.

  47. Well, Dungeon of Terror was a hodgepodge of scenes with little continuity between them. So, there's nothing to really make it stand out as DoT. But scenes that should have been featured? Tell-Tale Heart Room from Nevermore. Saloon or Sheriff's Office from Ghost Town Severed triceratops head from JP Evilution Chapel from Dark Torment Rope Climb or Classroom from Orfanage Director's Screening Room from Horror Night Nightmares

  48. That is very true. Although it did seem to be pretty edgy for the Singapore event, it just wasn't...I don't know. Jack'd Up enough, I guess. I, too, thought Carnage Returns was much better than Carnival of Carnage, and that's not just coming from a place of bias. Objectively, it flows better, there's more to look at for those who may have discovered too late that they're uncomfortable with all the gore, and I like the added sense of twisted fun with Jack essentially being the leader of all these maniacs rather than just having maybe two or three other "followers." It makes him more threatening, in a way.
