HHN front gate security

Recommended Posts

While I do agree that security is extremely important at HHN, I understand where Holdem is coming from. It doesn't seem that the metal detectors are really preventing anything; who knows if they really work?? All they do is have you take items out of your pockets and walk through holding them above your head. After that, no one even checks what is in your hands! You just put the same stuff back in your pockets and go about your way. Am I missing the point? What I say is Uni needs to pony up some extra cash and increase the amount of police officers in the park. I for one am tired of drunk and beligerant people running around the park as well as those ever-so-pesky line hoppers.

The guy verbably attacked a scareactor(girl) in Hacktion. One of the guys told the kid to calm down and walk away. The guy wouldn't back down and continued to threaten both of them this time. The cop overheard and stepped in. The guy started getting in the cops face and wouldn't back down. Something happened and he was tased however he got up and ran towards Horrorwood and got tased again.

wow, that must have been quite a sight, i kinda wish i saw that, I wonder why was the guy so angry, Why on Earth would someone do this,

I remember in Cirque du freak there was a woman and her daughter, and a vampire scareactor girl kept trying to scare them, and the woman got So angry at her and started to yell at the girl, i was like ???

I am sure those metal detectors have stopped quite a few things from entering the park. Sure, they can bring stuff into the park if they come early enough to skip it, but if you think about it..the people who are more likely to bring it are the ones that come just at night, and are the ones walking through the detectors. The security at City Walk know what they are looking for, and feeling for. You think they are doing a good job at checking, but I am sure they do enough to catch what they are looking for. I, for one, am glad they have metal detectors and feel safer for myself, and my friends that work the event.

eh, I bet the security people has some wild stories about people coming to the park or the stuff they bring?

I wonder if anyone has been stupid enough to bring something like a gun, it sounds dumb but you never know

I have only gone thru them once, no big deal. I have been going to HHN since 03 usally non-peak

nights. I have honestly NEVER seen anything such as fighting ,line jumping, harrassing scarectors

or security getting on to anyone.I don't excatly look for it either, but from what I hear it does go on.

I guess I have been lucky to be going on nights that the trouble makers stay home.

I sort of agree. On the count of the only time I've seen those things going on is when I've been there on a Friday or Saturday night. On Thursday nights, I've seen drunk people, but they usually aren't obnoxious. Just funny. On the other hand, the Fridays and Saturdays I have been, I have seen every single one of these problems.

I remember one year, in line for the Psycho house, there was one guy who was too drunk to walk straight, and he couldn't even make it through the front door.... He ended up just slumping himself against the wall, while his friend was like "COME ON MAN! COME ON!" and we're like.... let us just slip past you real quick... kthnxbai

Just to add, there is a lot of violence that could easily escalate to something deadly if the metal detectors weren't implemented. When I worked Mummy at HHN '08, we had at least one fight in our queue every 2 days, sometimes 2-3 a night. I had to hold two girls back from throwing each other in the ride track at port unload at Mummy for a couple of minutes while security ran up to get them. Though most fights happened in the dig site (the room where you go up the stairs to the load platform, with the hanging Anubis statue) and it's incredibly hard for security to get through there in a timely manner. I've seen tons of people escorted out with bloody faces and broken noses. And that's just at one attraction.

After the fight with the 2 females, I had to go down to processing and write a witness statement and explain what happened, and there was a LINE of people in handcuffs. Most was for fighting, but some were for stealing or trespassing. There's a lot of violence at HHN. I've seen it first hand on more occasions then I can count on both hands. I couldn't imagine what the outcome of some of these fights would've been if people could smuggle weapons into the park.

Really! I would anyone fight in the Mummy queue?? makes no sense, I mean if people jump in line, is that enough for a fight? i can't believe what you wrote, i would really love to go to each person that fights and ask them why would they fight there, i just cant see it

That room just has a feel to it. Whenever I go in that room I feel like fighting someone.. I always do, and always have. I think it is just the room.

Back onto metal detectors. I wouldn't feel safe without the metal detectors there.. That is all :)

I agree with Liz that they know what they're feeling and looking for when checking your bag. And with the metal detectors, I think you guys just don't pay enough attention. Every time I've gone through and the metal detector goes off, they check the area that the detector goes off in. They might seem like they don't care about it because the detector probably went off at your feet when you were wearing flip flops or something silly like that, they can probably see it's apart of the design.

In 2004 or 2005, I remember CityWalk's security had me leave my belt in the car because it could be used as a weapon. I had one of those studded belts, and my pants were falling down the whole night. It really sucks. Now I just keep my shirt pulled down when going past security, and just show them the belt buckle when it goes off in the detector. Heh.

I have seen a lot of fights, I usually just try to stay away though because I'm usually a lot smaller and weaker then those in the fight. I have seen people get arrested and I always smell a crap load of pot.

No theme park is good at checking purses and bags. Disney, Universal, Project Graduation at Wet n' Wild, any of them. All security just gives the bag a cursory check. Some of them go all the way to the bottom (don't necessarily check all the pockets and sides, though) and some take literally two seconds. It might just be the person's "image"; my mother hardly looks like the kind carrying a weapon into a theme park, but it's pathetically easy to sneak past the Citywalk guards.

One time, I was taking my friend to her first Rocky showing, and she suddenly remembered that she had accidentally left a knife in her bag. Instead of going all the way back to the car, she stuffed it in the side of her underwear and went through without a problem.

Ohhhh :o

I hope no one gets any cute ideas from your post about your friend...

I agree about the parks that barely check and the way you look, at Disney and Sea World they barely checked my backpack, and they didnt have metal detectors, HHN actually has more than all the other parks,

and as for how you look, you reminded me, last year there was this guy with a long coat, i don't know if it was trench coat, but the security took him to the side and made him empty all the pockets, the park opened and i still could see the security checking him, i dont know if they let him in or not,

Someone posted in this thread about not being allowed in with a trench coat, despite it not being banned on any of the rules listings.

Ever since Columbine, people have been paranoid about trench coats. They're even banned at my school.

I have to admit, there is a lot of fighting at HHN. I think most of it is because when you have to stand in line with the same people in front of or behind you for 2 hours, you get agitated by every little thing. The only people who make me that mad at HHN are the grab-asses. The only way I've been able to avoid awful people is to get Express Passes. That way you're not in line long enough to be bothered with someone.

I dont see why anyone would have a problem with the metal detectors. They are for your own saftey. And there is quite a bit of good security when you get in. But i do imagine waiting in a 2 3 hour line can get ruff if someone is drunk. Atleast you know they dont have anything to shank you with :).

Yes, some people are. I always take at least one day off to attend the event as a guest and, lo'n'behold, last year I forgot to take my little spitfire mace key chain out of my purse before we left the car. Long story short, I did the "drop off the item with Guest Services/front gate security and you'll get it back at the end of the night" and guess what the guy behind me was registering? A concealed pistol. It actually shook me to the core a little; that was right around the time when the razor and hook rumors started.

Someone mentioned that there are no metal detectors at HoS and little security precautions. Out of curiosity, does Busch Gardens serve alcohol at the event? It's not a direct correlation (if people intend to hurt others, sobriety's got nothing to do with it), but I'd feel even more vulnerable and paranoid trying to haunt there than I sometimes do at Universal Orlando.

yeah, seeing your answer and the link about the lady in Disney makes me think, I guess I'm just naive lol :)

I just couldn't believe they would bring something like that, but I guess it happens...

What's all this about fish hooks and razors?

In the Leave it to Cleaver house last year, someone (or some people) stuck fish hooks and razor blades in places like the dangling plastic mats that you have to walk through and in places that guests have to touch or are likely to touch. There was a huge discussion about it last year. It still worries me that there are people out there who get a kick out of doing stuff like that. *shudders*
