  1. Awesome house, and an even better walkthrough Friday night in comparison to opening weekend. I also noticed the "shiny face" actor/actress that was standing in front of the house during the media walkthroughs. He/she makes much more sense when placed in the proper scene :-) The actors in the greenhouse area weren't really getting after it unfortunately. Not sure what cast it was, but they were just going through the motions. It looked like the tree guy was sitting the entire time haha. Still an excellent house and one of my faves.
  2. Went through on Friday night and the Ash machine was off again for some reason :-( Also, there definitely is not a 2nd pyramid head (as many have confirmed) and I was looking for his blade, but I never did see it this time around. I remember seeing it opening weekend, but couldn't remember where in the house it was hiding. I'll be back on Sunday for another "scavenger hunt" haha.
  3. I did all the houses last night (4 of them twice) and for some reason, House of Horrors and Penn and Teller did not register my scan :-( I want my dang 7-in-1 badge!!! I also saw TJ when I picked up my card, and made sure to bust his balls a bit about the Cerebin game haha. That;s 3 days of my life that I'm never getting back...
  4. My personal hell (the Cerebin game) is finally over. Just snagged the 100 wins badge. I never want to see that piece of shit game ever again haha.
  5. I definitely saw the blade, but is there an actor in the room with the blade? I admittedly saw the blade first and then looked up to see an actor (I believe) before moving to the next scene. Thanks for confirming that it is not Pyramid head and confirming that his blade is indeed in the house (thought I was going crazy for a second, although I did have a few Gin n Tonic's that night).
  6. Haha, glad they got busted. Maybe Uni was reading the forums here and launched an investigation.
  7. I'm almost positive I saw the blade (I saw that before the Pyramid head). Is it possible the first Pyramid Head room connects back to another scene later in the house, allowing the actor to cover both rooms? The Pyramid head in the rectangular space definitely did not have a blade, so if that were the case, why would he leave the blade for one scene and use it in the other. Maybe the blade is attached to the other scene somehow and can't be removed. Again, I'll be on the lookout Friday night.
  8. I'm with you Perse, I think I win 1 in about every 10 tries...slow going fo sho
  9. That was me who said that. I am going back Friday and will keep an eye out to confirm. I remember seeing him after the first pyramid head (the one in the rectangle space) but can't remember where. The second one did have a blade though. Can anyone working in the house confirm the existence of the 2nd Pyramid head?
  10. Thanks for the tips Jeramy, they are helping but only slightly. This Cerebin game is about to really see 'The Beast Within' if these locks don't start moving haha
  11. I saw ash as well as fog too on my walkthrough Saturday night. Also heard the siren right as we entered the facade. Love the "fog prop" too next to the Silent Hill sign as Perse pointed out :-)
  12. With the amount of $$$ Uni charges for tickets, they should be able to afford to hire some more makeup artists (and help the unemployment rate at the same time!) haha. I don't think we need to see every actor with a missing bottom jaw, or an exposed jawbone, (although it would be freakin awesome), but to have a handful of actors with really well done makeups every night (especially for a IP behemoth like the Walking Dead) should NOT be hard to pull off, especially for a freaking movie studio. Also, not trying to be racist at all here, but a white zombie mask on a black actor just looks totally ridiculous... Take an extra 10 minutes and blend the skin tone together with the mask, or create a mask that continues down the neck and into the clothing and you will have the problem solved for the most part. Don't think they have mask-colored paint lying around? What did they paint the masks with then? They could have 2 artists with paint loaded into an airbrush dedicated to finishing the horrible looking necklines and enjoy an instant improvement of quality. If this were a local, private-run haunt on this scale (with this many actors, etc) I would cut em some slack. Since we are dealing with a movie studio here, the quality of the makeup should correlate accordingly in my opinion. I realize the event has grown, but it seems like the makeup department/artists did not grow with it, hence the reliance on masks with unfinished applications.
  13. As soon as I get a badge on this Beast game, I'm never playing that shit again haha
  14. Sorry if this has been asked already, but were there some random groups of mixed hordes walking around this weekend? It seemed like on more than one occasion, I saw a group that consisted of a vampire, traditional, and possibly a beast (although I couldn't tell since I never did find their horde)
  15. Thanks for ripping the games down Jeramy. I'm excited to see the new games, and kind of hope they are more skill based (like the matching game) and less blind luck based (like the coffin and beast game). The beast game is driving me absolutely batty...
  16. House of Horrors - Last Saturday during AP Party (2nd cast, probably close to 6pm), Dracula at the end of the hallway, before the crouching tunnel. Nobody else seemed to be in the scene (or the Brides of Dracula the scene before) and just as I was commenting about there being no Vampires, you came out of nowhere and just about floored me. Only official scare of the night, so hats off to you
  17. It was awesome seeing Dr Jimmy, Jakemeister, and JWFearman briefly on Saturday night. Hope you guys had a great time. I also ran into Mike Aiello in Finnegan's with a whole table of AD people. I made sure to get a round of shots for them in appreciation of all they do. My wife snagged a (super blurry) pic as well and threw it on her Instagram:
  18. It looks like there are only a little over 1,000 registered online so far. To pick up your card, you need to be registered right? That means we should all have a pretty good chance at snagging a card (if we haven't already) within the next few weeks.
  19. This was my group's favorite house of the night. We got the most consistent scares in here and I got my only official scare of the night in the Dracula hallway. We went to this house first during the Passholder party and it was SUPER dark when we got inside. The Brides of Dracula room had zero actors in it, but the prop and audio effect in there startled me every time I heard it. The next hallway had nothing in it either. As I got to the end of the hallway, I said to my wife "I guess there aren't any vampires in here..." and then I got my scare of the night, from Dracula himself (at least I think it was him, the masks are a little tough to make out; especially when they appear right in your face out of nowhere haha). Props to that actor (2nd cast of AP passholder party) for giving me the best scare of the night before it even got dark. After the mummy tunnel, our group was entirely alone. I don't know if the group in front of us ran or what, but when we came out of the crouching section, there was nobody in front of us. This made for an epic rest of the house. The finale room was fantastic the second time we did it (at night), but since it is so close to the exit, it is too bright to be effective during the daytime. At night though, it is amazing, intense, and very disorienting. Looking forward to seeing this house again on Friday :-)
  20. Went through the house twice last weekend and while fun, it is not piquing my interest yet. The spider room has probably one of the best makeups at the event (2nd spider face lady). While it may have been the lighting, (and it may look terrible in full light) it looked absolutely wicked. It was funny that the spider room also had the exact same walkthrough layout as the mirror floor room in In-Between. They pretty much left everything in there, and threw two spider people in haha. I'll give it a couple more runs, but not feeling it as of right now.
  21. There was a big red button on the wall near the beginning of the house that I pushed and it made some sort of lighting effect in the little room we were in. Keep an eye out for it :-)

    Gothic

Favorite set design so far. Scares were a little lacking, but I didn't mind because I was enjoying the scenery :-)
  23. Me too, one closer to the end that actually had a blade. I was there on Saturday night and saw the blade before I saw him. I'll be back again on Friday and I'll keep an eye out.
  24. I gotta disagree about the masks, unfortunately. While not as noticeable in the house itself (due to the lighting and pace of walking through it), the zombies in the streets don't look so hot. My main qualm is the necklines. You can clearly see where the mask ends and the neck/real skin begins (with a good makeup, prosthetics, etc, you wouldn't have to worry about that). They could have easily blended the skin tone and the mask line with some more makeup and it would literally take an extra minute to achieve. Right now, it's easy to tell that it just a person in a mask, which is unfortunate and removes the immersion factor for me. I remember when Universal used to put movie-quality makeup and prosthetics on their actors. Makeup that was good enough to be shot on film. I know the event has grown tremendously since those days but I feel like they are relying too heavily on masks, which in the case of these zombies, wouldn't be used for a movie shoot. Masks are unquestionably much easier to put on hundreds of actors a night, but the convenience comes at the price of immersion. The zombies (at least the ones on the street) look no better than a common trick or treater that I would see at my door on Halloween, and it's mainly thanks to the masks...

    Dead End

I'm glad to hear they are gone too. And the mask on the one (female?) to the right was as shiny as the Lady Luck masks from last year. Looked totally out of place and gave me pretty low expectations for the rest of the costumes in the house before even seeing the video. Again, glad they chose to remove them from that section.
