  1. As someone who didn't start attending until 24, I don't get the same feeling from that video you posted. There is always a guest right in front of the person filming. Heck, even now it's very possible to go into a house with nobody in front or behind you. I did it multiple times at 25 and a few times during 26. Even when they start you off single file, most of the time halfway through the house, your not right on top of other people. Also, it seems just as loud throughout the whole video as it does for most of the newer houses. Ghost town had quite a few areas of quite that stand out, but nearly every house had it's quite areas. I feel like you look back on the event, back when you were younger and things like crowds and loud noises didn't really bother you or even notice to much. Not calling you old by any means, but i'm sure every year had it's flaws. There will never, and can never be, a perfect HHN event.

  2. Yes yes yes. If anything the quality of house videos has gotten WAY better. There were many, many people that (at the time, at least) HATED 14-17, saying things pretty similar to the things he posts--"HHN used to be the best Halloween event but is now a sad shell of its former self!" was a statement I heard regularly as a lurker 10+ years ago. If the Vault were still around, it would be surprising to see how negative some of the reviews for those years were.

  3. What we're all missing with the Dark Fortunes hint is the long-awaited return of Lady Luck, unanimously the best icon. Obviously.

  4. It's definitely still possible to experience the house with no one in front of you. You just have to hold back a bit from the conga line. The best is when you can time it so there's no one in front of you OR behind you. I went through Krampus and Chance's house a few times like that and it was so much fun!

  5. Either do a mash-up or take the original and bring "modern haunt technology" into it. Honest to God I think the difficult part the Creative team has now adays is they go too much for 'theatrics' instead of the actual haunt. Look at Screamhouse from 12: It was NOT blaringly loud, you had some space between the person in front of you, it relied on a roller coaster of anticipation (loud...quiet...medium...quiet...loud).

  6. Huh? You never did the original, but felt this was a retread? And you'd prefer a "twist on an old concept" which is exactly what Ghost town was last year? Sorry, but your comment doesn't make any sense.

  7. Mary is complicated. The trademark is a standard character mark. Basically, this type of mark gives broad rights and is literal. The trademark is for the actual words. Universal can't use the words Bloody Mary to describe her. Now, Mike Aiello created the backstory and character of Dr. Mary Agana. I have always contended that UO can use Dr. Agana, they just can't call her Bloody Mary. And that's the problem. Most people would have no idea who Dr. Agana is. She lost her "screenname". It'd be like Dr. Albert Caine losing the use of The Caretaker. Insert Icon, remove Iconic Name.

  8. I think there were copyright issues with Mary (please correct me if I'm wrong!). I would LOVE to see Bloody Mary come back but I don't think she ever will.

  9. Plot twist: Cindy is Lady Luck. How ridiculous would that be.

  10. I know we're all iffy on Ifrit, but he / she is hinting that Insidious is not its own Maze and is in the Mashup.

  11. I must agree that two Blumhouse mazes is ridiculous. I shall remain skeptical, though.

  12. I've got to be honest... last year when we stopped to watch AoV my expectations were set at about 0. I was fairly surprised with the show in general. It was enjoyable. However, my issue isn't with the show itself, but more the location of where it takes place. I wish there was a stage somewhere where they could perform and they could use that large area for more scare zone stuff. The giant stage definitely takes away from the Halloween atmosphere. Also... My expectations of this Blumhouse mashup aren't very high (assuming we get it). It's one thing to have multiple themed areas for an AHS house, but to have another house like that just doesn't seem very creative to me. I'm not confident that it's going to suck, but you make a valid point. The hotel was so massive. How are they going to be able to convey that size even in a sound stage? What I'm most concerned about is the elevator blood scene. If they pull some cheesy effect for that, it could ruin it for me. They better have this scene... Oh yeah and AHS better have this playing at some point...

  13. If referring to IP's, Insidious related, since there were only 3 movies, as opposed to the 28 in the SAW series.

  14. EDIT:- not sure what's up with the font/and strike-throughs in this post. <.< What I think we will/could possibly get next year: - AHS - seasons 2/3/6 - The Mummy (since around that time the DVD/BluRay should be released for the new film- for better or worse) - TWD (sad but true) - SAW theme'd house to correspond with SAW: Legacy What I'd Like to See (that's realistic IMO:) - A Vamp house of some kind (but that is tied in to Vampyr- as I've mentioned before, because I'm a sucker for story/continuity) - Nightingales - New Icon and/or previously unused Icon getting their due - WAY more atmosphere in the streets (be it sets, actors, or whatever) -Return of connective story - Way better website. Okay, yeah... I doubt we'll ever see those truly interactive sites again pre-22, but this years was just sad. Look at USS' HHN6's site. Something like that. Please. What 'd Like to See (probably will not happen) - 'Urban Legend' house return. -Alien -It (yeah, yeah I know- but it doesn't stop me from wanting it any less so stfu :P) -Hellraiser I could list tons of other things I'd like to see I guess (as I'm sure we all could) but I'm really trying to keep this list (even the "probably will nots") somewhat possible-ish. In heart I'd love for more originals and less IPs and going back to really fully immersive streets but I'm also not naive. I think the streets are something that is possible to get close to achieving but I also know that it'll probably always be 50/50 or more with IPs from now on (as I'm sure we've all realized.)

  15. Stranger Things should not come to the event, ever. Why do so many of you come up with atrocious recommendations?

  16. wishlist: twin peaks the x-files 3D beetlejuice house (i feel like this could be the best idea for a 3D house) new icon better street experiences better crowd control but i think they should continue the formula of having 3 originals (one being a nod to the past in some way), 3 classic IPs, & 3 modern IPs because it just provides something for everyone to enjoy

  17. Yes I'll post my list later.
