  1. Been hoping for this one for a while, as I'm sure we all have.
  2. That stinks. I always go that week because I'm off of work that Monday, and don't have to burn a vacation day. That particular week has been open from Wed-Sun for at least the past 5 years. I would always fly down on Columbus Day, and go to HHN Wed-Fri. I thought the Microsoft conference was in Sept...either way, sucks for me.
  3. +1 for no Killer Klownz house. The scarezone was great, but I also believe that was because of the scareactors ability to improvise. Other than that, I'm just hoping for scarier houses, with less IP's (aren't we all). Naturally we'll get ST2, something Blumhouse (Halloween, HDD2U, god forbid another Purge), and probably Chucky. What else is coming out? 3 From Hell, Escape Room (that premise has the potential to make a good house, whether it's an IP or original), Zombieland 2...
  4. I completely agree, and can't wait for this! I grew up watching those same movies, plus there's a local drive-in near me that shows only retro movies, and even has VHS Fest, and Schlock-O-Rama weekend, so I feel a somewhat personal connection with this house.
  5. Welcome! My first HHN was in 2015, and I was excited for Freddy Vs Jason, and American Werewolf in London. I was completely caught off guard by how great the originals were. It did help that 25 Years of Monsters & Mayhem helped give me a crash course, and Body Collectors was breathtaking. Enjoy it, man!
  6. The Upside Down should translate into a good visual
  7. I'm not a Purge fan, haven't liked any of the Purge houses, and I was totally ready to hate on the sz, but I thought it worked really well. With that being said, I think it could be brought back one more year as a sz before needing to be shelved for a bit.
  8. From Universal: There is one aspect of Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights no one can escape… the SCARE ZONES. They're the first and last things you'll experience, and it's our chance to make sure there is no way to hide from the scares. This Halloween Horror Nights, we're inviting you to join the celebration of blood and bone at what can only be called The Festival of the Deadliest – an ancient tradition from the depths of where nightmares are born. A gathering of the most unearthly, hellish terrors has emerged from the darkest corners of despair. It calls to those who long for the thrill of the scare and wish to have their fears made real. You'll be drawn like moths to a flame, and once you join this hallowed celebration, your nightmares will never end. You'll find the heart of the Festival on the streets of Hollywood in Universal Studios Florida, but its claws have spread throughout Horror Nights. Here's what awaits you every night… Trick 'r Treat First up, it's time to make sure everyone understands the rules of our haunted holiday. Get a proper Halloween education in our Central Park scare zone inspired by the film Trick 'r Treat. We're excited to have Sam visit and make sure we follow the rules of Halloween. As a longtime fan of classic horror anthology films, Trick 'r Treat is a favorite of mine that pays perfect homage to that genre. In this zone, you'll have the opportunity to come face-to-face with several characters from the film, and learn for yourself what happens when you don't follow the rules. The Purge Next up, we have a returning story to our New York streets with The Purge. This time, our approach was to create a zone that showed how we think the events of a Purge night might play out in our streets. There are some fan favorites returning such as our auction and a very polite gentleman. We also have some new surprises in store. For example, how do you clean up all the mayhem on the streets during a Purge night? Visit the clean-crew up crew with their trusty wood chipper to find out. Just don't get too close… Altars of Horror Near the front gate, on Avenue of the Stars, we have our Altars of Horror. For me, this zone is very exciting because we're bringing something to the streets for our horror fans that we have never done before. In this zone, we're taking some of the larger than life characters featured in this year's houses, and letting them have their own scare zone. A lot of work goes into bringing these iconic film characters to life in our houses. Now you'll have the opportunity to get an even better look at them. Invasion! Set in a time decades ago, our docks in San Francisco find themselves the victim of an INVASION! Visitors from far beyond have crashed their vessel, and are now wreaking havoc on the streets of San Francisco. They aren't just here to destroy; these invaders are also on a mission to learn everything they can about us humans. Careful, or you may find yourself on the experiment table at the mercy of an alien scientist. Roaming Hordes Lastly, no Halloween Horror Nights would be complete without roaming hordes. This time, it's the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the chainsaw. Unhappy with how popular culture has made clowns scary, this grotesque gang of gigglers has risen from the grave, determined to show the world that if you want scary clowns, they're going to make sure you get your worst nightmare. ACADEMY OF VILLAINS: AFTERLIFE But wait! There's more. The question is, "can you handle more?" I'm happy to share ACADEMY OF VILLAINS: AFTERLIFE will be returning to put on an all-new killer performance. This group of powerhouse artists will make you bear witness to what happens after we leave this life. They're going to give you one mind-blowing and shocking dance performance that will escort you from this world to the great beyond. As you can see, the streets will be alive with plenty of horror, mayhem, and celebration. The opportunity to bring favorite horror films to life and tell our own unique horror stories makes every day a thrill. My favorite part of the event is walking the streets each night as our scare actors make these terror-filled tales a reality. Every scream I hear puts a huge smile on my face.
  9. I have a feeling it's gonna be like that scene in A Christmas Story. "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine. Ovaltine? A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!"
  10. Unless they have flashbacks to the cult in earlier times, and he was a member many years back.
  11. I went to my first HHN experience (25) with an ex who I swear had unshakeable nerves of steel. We had gone to quite a few haunted houses & attractions prior, and I had never, ever seen her jump once. We get there right at the opening with our express passes, and go right to the anniversary house. As soon as we walked in, she started admiring the underwater scenery, (specifically the hanging seaweed), when a scareactor took one step towards her through the seaweed, she yelped and jumped backwards into me. That was the first of only 2 times in the few years we dated that I ever saw her get scared. That same year, next house actually, we were in the first FvJ room, with the two little girls with no eyes jumping rope, and they came over to me, looked right up and me, and said "I think he wants to play", or something to that effect. Creeped me out, ha.
  12. I really like the reboot. Like others have stated, it went after the genuine horror feel, and achieved it, IMO. With that being said, you're doing yourself a disservice by not seeing at least Evil Dead 2. It is Evil Dead with a bigger budget, better effects and slapstick, making it a great horror-comedy. If that's not your thing, then I get it.
  13. I was spoiled. My ex went for the first time in 2013, and didn't have passes...she also didn't know HHN was a thing. When we went in 2015 (my first year) she insisted we had to get them, and I'm glad we did. I got them last year, and again this year. Coming down from NJ, I only get to the park for 3 days (Tues-Thurs) in the middle of Oct. On the Wed night, I like to do 4-5 houses, take a halftime at Moe's, finish the houses, then have a drink while wandering around Diagon Alley (hoping . The Thurs night I like to take my time with the scarezones, and generally take in the atmosphere without being rushed. This is my first year getting the behind the scenes tour, so while I get why people are upset about the picture policy, I'm excited about it.
  14. Throw a dash of vamp Ziggy Stardust for good measure
