Took a good amount of inspirations from the original Tarzan stories; his appearance isn’t like how Hollywood portrays him who actually had a hair body that made look both closely and eerily like an ape other than in a near perfect muscular form with a skimpy loincloth on nor he was raised by gorillas like in the Disney version. Unlike my Jungle Book concepts which leans more on the Scary Tales side and is considered as an unconventional fairy tale, La is a little more pulpier like what you see in the old comics from the 30’s to 50’s.

Finally completed the house concept update on my take of Yeti, I’ll see if there’s any bits left to sprinkle in, and it’ll be done enough to show y’all my HHN: Jungles of Fear themed event doc work on November 5th 2AM on Eastern time after the Orlando event ends.

Hey everyone!

After MONTHS of researching, writing, experimenting, adding, constructing, editing, updating, improving, layering, and whatever I was doing with my second themed event concept of Halloween Horror Nights to capture the essence and bring a breath of fresh air at my best effort as fan content while I was simultaneously breaking the cliches and embracing the tropes of the horror genre, I can finally say that it looks done enough to show y’all this big package called Jungles of Fear. It’s something I was working on before one of this year’s scare-zones was announced, and I probably started it around maybe late January or early February at the earliest. I even included some writer’s notes to avoid not only some questions, but also to make sure no one gets confused and to prevent any confrontations and negative bad behaviors for some good discussions about this.

 

I took a step further on the aesthetic inspired by not only some of the fan demands and suggestions on Discord and elsewhere who wanted to see more of it aesthetically, but also the myths, the folktales, the movies, the cryptids, literature, some random stuff, original thoughts, previously done houses and zones that goes well with certain vibes to fit this, and most occasionally video games with the total of 14 houses, 10 original music compositions, 7 exclusive themed costumes as merchandise, 6 zones, 6 food booths, 5 roaming hordes, 5 rides, 2 shows, 2 overlay experiences, one tribute store, and one icon character for one big firing event. 

 

I know what you’re thinking, the totals are ridiculously too massive, and there’s no way they could do that in reality, especially with today’s level of crowds, which I get it a hundred percent, but I wanted to make sure the variety is there, so it can be immersive and not too repetitive while keeping the icon aspects as the most represented part of it other than doing a cohesive take. Creatively, I wasn’t overthinking too much, and virtually everything is the same in terms of theming, but they’re all unique in terms of occurrence, style and setting. If this were to happen now in most fashion, it would be a big creative risk to take.

 

As for the event icon for this, I didn’t create a new character from scratch nor did I felt the need to and instead pulled out one from the public domain for a horror treatment and a redo that has the creative potential as its own version(s). It’s obvious, but it thematically makes sense and since some of you guys read much of my haunted house concepts here on this site, I went with Mowgli from the Jungle Book to play the icon role for this, and this particular character is a fitting choice for this concept than what anybody would think more so than say Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz or Snow White while leaning on the original stories by Rudyard Kipling than the Disney adaptations and taking inspirations from the Hindu lore and the Indian culture for an authentic touch in a fictional way. At Orlando, Universal had used a public domain character before to be on the top figure statues with the famous Urban Legend Bloody Mary, which was the inspiration of my decision. Unfortunately, they can’t reuse her again at some point in the future for some weird copyright reason, so I thought to myself “What if they went with an alternative instead to represent the PM category?”

 

Got several more themed concepts that I could try in the next few years. I wanna try out many different music-related concepts along with the Slasher Horror sub-genre, and I also want to take a step further in Japan and India, since they’re the most represented countries in my own work of material. Could I use another character from the public domain as an icon? Maybe so, but it depends which one would work well for another overall theme like let’s say if I made my own version of Mulan for a horror treatment and everything is related to China and Hercules for a Greek themed event as another example. But in the meantime, I’ll be taking a break for the most part until Christmas is officially over in January. Tell me your favorites, what do you like about this idea, your questions that I could answer for y’all, and what I need to improve with this. The event may be over until next year, but with this on paper, I can officially start the opening that goes on everyday for you to read at any time you’re in and anywhere you’re at.

I was able to give my very first music house concept a vast update for more details, additions, and better quality of writing right before Thanksgiving kick in. The reason for this was for me to get ready for the next event themed concept I’ll work on next year after Christmas called Face The Music with a Conductor as an icon, which I’ve already thought of a full name for him. His backstory will be first for this, then I’ll make some new zones and houses with the best variety I could branch out while I’ll still give some old concepts a vast update.

With Christmas over until this December, I’m right now working on the themed event concept of Halloween Horror Nights: Face The Music, starting with the main doc first by adding a premise and icon backstory, an overlay for the Archway, music playlist, and original music compositions. Could add more if necessary, but I wanna make sure it looks done enough to show y’all what it looks like so far before it’s done again. I’ll also give my old concepts a cast update as well for more details, additions, and better quality of writing, but it could take for Face The Music to be similarly on par with Memories In Darkness and Jungles of Fear cause I’ll be very busy at work to remodel at my job other than my full house family, which are always a top priority.

This marks the beginning of me making my next themed event concept of Halloween Horror Nights called Face The Music. Unlike the last two, I created a new character from scratch rather than using any existing characters as an icon who is an undead conductor, composer, and a victim of the infamous 27 curse - the cause of the death is not what you think it is - named Adam Williams whose surname is a nod to the legendary film composer John Williams with his own powers and abilities while using his baton as a weapon to cause terror. I think you’ll be impressed with the character’s backstory I’ve written, and there are some surprises I don’t wanna say too much cause I want y’all to read then react. Hope you guys enjoy what this looks like so far!

I got my newest haunted house concept done a week ago. This is my take of doing a New Orleans themed house with Jazz and Voodoo that takes place during the Roaring Twenties. Hey everyone! Just got another new house concept done that took me more than a week, which is also music-related and this was one of the most requested ideas from readers on Discord. Just like what I did with Nine Inch Nails’ The Downward, I also gave My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade a house treatment that is lyrically about death and the reflection of life. I was inspired by one interpretation that was written by one fan on Reddit at the band’s official page, which made it more easier for me to adapt, translate, re-listen to the music, and understand the lyrics more with a bit of my own take to offer a unique experience done by a fan like myself for an offering that will blow y’all away. This isn’t like any other concepts I had done before, but man I am so proud of myself for all the hard work, effort, and inspiration. I hope you guys enjoy my newest piece!

At last! My arm is complete again! This is my very first take of doing a haunted house concept that is both based on a musical play and a movie. Sweeney Todd is another piece I’m proud of writing; I was taking all the theatrical stuff to my highest level and it even brought me to another area.

After almost three weeks in the making, my take of Little Shop of Horrors as a haunted house concept is now complete. It has the best of the Broadway show, the best of the Frank Oz movie, and some humor I’ve incorporated that fits well for this, adding some Easter Eggs and some characters mentioned from the Halloween Horror Nights lore (including one bit from my alternate universe of the event). Come on in! But always remember this: Don’t Feed The Plants.

If you're familiar with indie games, you may think a maze based off of old-time cartoons is based off of Bendy and the Ink Machine. And you're right!.. sorta. Really more on Matpat discussing Max Fleischer and his occult themes. Really more "What if the villain in the original plan for Cool World was actually a god-like army?" than "What if Bendy got a house at HHN?".

 

Darrin Adler was a small-time animator who never claimed the same fame as Disney nor Fleischer, but has gained a cult following in recent years. A local film enthusiast purchased some of the original reels, and organized a little film festival centered on the shorts. Things went well, until a mysterious fire started behind the screens. Within the next minutes, Adler's creations busted through the screen, warping reality to meet their surreal expectations.

 

The warped maze is mostly B&W, with red and orange shades scattered throughout. Monster scaracters are dressed like old-time cartoon characters, some funny animals and some humans, many with larger-than-life weapons. Some scenes:

• The Theater: The first few rooms. The facade is simple enough, ignoring the fading colors, creepy silhouettes lurking about, and suspicious ink stains. Once inside, The lobby is a chaotic mess, with chairs strewn about (some lodged in the wall), a dead concession stand worker, and various posters depicting Adler, some consisting of photos and other as self-portraits. Be wary on the self portraits, they may be hiding malevolent caricatures of himself. Then the actual theater, where slaughtered men lay in the seats. Of course some are really cartoons. Exit through the torn screen.
• The Bar: The bar scene from Gremlins, replace the Gremlins with cartoon characters, pretty much. Some toons are torturing people, some getting completely wasted, and to are dueling with guns, the loser proceeding to take a shot of whiskey, which pours out of the bullet holes. The bartender begs for help, only to be threatened by another toon.
• The Alley: A group of toons, some drunk from the last scene, are roughing up a guy, sometimes turning on each other. A drunk clown stumbles through some trashcans, threatening the guests with a broken bottle.
• The House: Skip a few. At this point, inanimate objects are coming alive, people are living despite horrible life-ending wounds, and some of the toons aren't looking so hot. Enter the house, where the table is feral and a toon family are trying to kill each other. However, the big thing is the fireplace, which has warped into a gateway to the netherworld, which is spewing smoke and faking a fire. And you have to walk through it. Yay.
• Hell: Here, we get a little backstory. Adler made a certain type of deal to make his cartoons walk and talk, expecting to make it so that his cartoons would be easier to animate. Sure, they might have been a little easier to animate, but Adler lost his soul and now his creations are wreaking havoc throughout existance. These rooms are basically mockeries of cartoons, where the toons torture humans and each other.
• Darrin Adler: The final room. Darin Adler is now a (Stilt-Walker) Half-Toon Half-Demon, threatening to force guests to experience the eternal torture he has lived through. Near the exit, a warped Caricature and his "Mickey" attack the guests.

The soundtrack is mostly swing/jazz, with only a few breaks. (Does "Let's All Go To The Lobby" count? And is that even period appropriate? Aw, who cares.) Some contortionists would be perfect for some scaracters, enabling characters to bend and twist like their inspirations. As for the "Mickey", what would be Adler's iconic character? Who would make up the ensemble that would appear the most? I haven't the clue, but mice, cats, rabbits, lapdogs, demons, and bears are probably off-limits.

Who would have thought that two boys from Buies Creek, NC would grow up to become the leaders of the internet's #1 morning talkshow? For years, Rhett and Link have been entertaining their fans, who have become known as the Randlers - standing for "Rhett and Link - ers" - and Mythical Beasts. But not everyone is happy with this. Elton Rand, a 30-something failed taxidermist, has recently started a cult of the Randler, a recent attempt convince people to let him lead them, and he's none too pleased about having to share a search term with two guys who he'll never usurp. As he grumbled in his office, he stumbled upon a book of dark spells. Should he play his cards right, the Randler Cult will be the only thing to use that term...

 

A lame villain. I know. But to be honest, Elton's that one guy that stews in self-hatred and thinks everyone's out to get him, declining all acts of kindness while stating everyone hates him. The person who thinks he's superior to all else despite the fact that a light breeze could knock the wind out of him. A pathetic worm. And he and his cult are not stand-ins for the Mythical Beasts. Not even the stereotypical obsessed fans - he's a generic trash villain, and his followers are generic cultists.

 

ROOMS

• Facade: The black-and-white Zigzag wall of the Rhett and Link Studio, with Rhett, Link, and the house name in neon colors on the side, inverting with the zigzag pattern.
• Elton's Office: An office, with a cluttered desk, a filing cabinet with the taxidermy Randler (think a rabbit with deer antlers, but done by one of those bad taxidermists - take these for example) on top, and Elton stomping about, cursing in a very Dan Backslide-ish manner. This distracts from a cultist, who will rush out from the wall facing the desk.
• Vacation: The transition to this scene is the Ice Cream Sandwich factory. Rhett and Link are behind the conveyor belt, and a zombie will lunge out from the opposite side. Guests then wander out into a beach, where they pass several zombies by the Ice Cream Sandwich stand. Zombie Rhett and Link appear near the end of the room.
• Sleep Tight: The transition has guests pass by a model house displaying one of the spot-the-difference scenes, while Rhett narrates the Higgensbottom Family. In the room, guests head down a hallway, where the characters (Siamese Monster, Steampunk Toothfairy, Sandman spraying guests with a fine mist (Or Grandpa sleepwalking with his cane), and the thieves) will burst out of the doors.
• Clown Shark: Fun fact, I started typing this before 2018's GMM Halloween week - and their giant Clown Shark entryway. So I guess the transition to this room ends in a Clown Shark entrance. Inside, hippie Rhett lays on the floor, wounded and begging for mercy, while the gentler parts of the song plays. But when Link's part comes up, Clown Sharks will burst out the walls, black lights show the area as a violent and vibrant aquatic circus, and guests better prepare for some in-your-face scares.
• Chuck Testa: Guests wander through a hall of taxidermy people. A cultist wearing Chuck Testa's cap and facial hair walks behind the corpses, rushing guests.
• Cotton Candy Randy: Guests head out to a parking lot, where a white van filled with cotton candy is shaking and the sounds of a struggle can be heard. A victim will try to escape from the back, only to be pulled back in by Cotton Candy Randy. When the two close the door, another Randy will sneak up on the line, and you know the pattern: "Happy Cotton Candy Day daddies", a sweet nothing, and a death threat.
• Will It?: Guests enter a part of the GMM studio where crew members are tied up. Cultists have prepared a mixture of gross foods, and are forcing the crew to eat it. The scent of Blood Tacos, Eyeball Jelly, Brain Pizza, etc. is unbearable, victims are vomiting, and the cultists think the guests should be part of the fun.
• Wheel of Mythicality: Guests walk up to another section of the GMM Studio, where another crew member is tied to the Wheel of Mythicality. The wheel spins, the music (and a mix of You Know What Time it is voice clips) plays, and when it stops, a something happens. Win Face would be a cultist threatening to cut someone's face off, Rhett Goes Crazy and Rhett is a reluctant Axe Murderer features Rhett busting in with an axe (with clips from the respective segment), I guess there are some good Link ones.
• Finale: Guests walk up to the GMM Desk, where Rhett and Link are in cages, begging for release. Each has half of their face cut off, with Elton barging in, wearing the two pieces as a mask and declaring himself the ultimate Randler, buying into his lies. Cotton Candy Randy, a Clown Shark, and a cultist hide in the scene.

A fun fact is that my sister jokingly wishes to start a cult around Cotton Candy Randy, and when I told her about the idea, she figured the cult would focus on Cotton Candy Randy. When I told her otherwise, stated CCR could make up the house himself, including a scene involving 50 Cotton Candy Randies sneaking up on guests, and CCR vomiting on the lead cultist.

 

I propose Elton gets defeated by the clown shark walking up behind him, taking his mask off, splitting the mask, yeeting the halves of the mask to Rhett and Link, unlocking the cage, letting Rhett and Link leave, and finally eating Elton alive, as the pathetic taxidermist begs Rhett and Link to come back and help him

After the Wizard left Oz, Scarecrow became king. And at first, an intelligent king was good for the land. However, knowledge is power, the Scarecrow was the highest power in the land, and power corrupts. He became mad, ignoring his friends, capturing his vocal critics, and making Oz a worse place than any of the witches ever did. Now, with his army of Strawmen, The Scarecrow rules with an iron fist, not caring whom he destroys to keep it that way.

 

So I never watched The Wizard of Oz as a kid. My parents figured that the flying monkeys and the Scarecrow's face would've scared me - just to let you imagine how much of a Scaredy Cat I was. Watched it the other day, though. Good movie. This dark take on Oz is Wicked Witch free - sure, you visit her castle, but now it belongs to King Scarecrow. While a lot of the character designs remain relatively similar:

-Scarecrow's face is a burlap mask with a moving jaw, rather than makeup. The actor's eyes are visible, but surrounded by "straw".

-Tin Man has a more... robotic look. ALSO a mask instead of makeup, he's a bit more... Iron-Gianty than the movie.

-Lion and the Flying Monkeys are more realistic.

 

Anyways, ROOMS:

• Facade: Like Dorothy in the movie, guests are taken to Oz by entering the Gale house. It's sepia-toned.
• Return to Oz: Guests meet an older Dorothy, but... she's panicking by a window. Why? A scarecrow breaks through the window. When leaving the room, guests find a scarecrow with black fur and blood around its mouth.
• Munchkinland: Leaving the Gale household, guests find themselves in Munchkinland. However, what should be a place of whimsy and joy has become a dark land, where Munchkins tell you to run. Why? Because the place is swarming with Munchkin Scarecrows - as in, Munchkins forcibly turned into scarecrows. At the end, the Coroner is jammed into the wall with a pitchfork. A scarecrow jumps out, laughing that the Coroner is "REALLY MOST SINCERELY DEAD!" At the beginning, by the way, when you exit the Gale house, look to the side. Glinda's been crushed by the house.
• The Farm: Guests then enter the farm, where Dorothy found Scarecrow. Corpses are hung on posts, though a few victims are miraculously still alive - and make their presence known, scaring guests. A scarecrow lurks in the crop. Crows with snapped necks are strewn about.
• The Orchard: Surprisingly, despite not really liking each other, Scarecrow has left the trees be. They're still bitter, though, and will attack and taunt guests. Following the Yellow Sidewalk, guests will find an Oz resident who bit it on the end of his rope - literally. He's hanging. A scarecrow with Tinman's axe will attack.
• Lion's Forest: In the forest, the birds are deathly quiet, and the carcasses of tigers and bears are strewn about. The Lion will attack guests, but not in the comical "Put 'Em Up" style from the movie - no, after the Scarecrow went mad, Lion caught something. Something bad. Now, he's foaming at the mouth, while his brain is being destroyed from the inside out.
• Poppy Fields: It's getting stormy, and guests enter the infamous poppy fields. Keep an eye to the sky - Flying Monkeys are about.
• Haunted Forest: It's dark. It's spooky. What sounds like a Jazz Band in a trash compactor can be heard. What attacks here? Jitterbugs. Not cutesy ladybug people, things that look like Brundlefly mixed with Cooties.
• Witch's Gate: Entering the Castle, guests are stopped by Winky Scarecrows.
• Witch's Castle: Wanna know where all these scarecrows come from? Well, the Winky Scarecrows aren't just guards, they're slaves being used to make more scarecrows. People are being ripped apart, stuffed with straw, having their brains removed, stitched together poorly. It's not a pretty sight.
• Witch's Lair: Then guests enter the room where the Wicked Witch of the West held Dorothy. The Crystal Ball is still there, and flashes images of Tinman in a prison cell, begging for release, the rabid Lion, and a cackling King Scarecrow. As guests exit the castle, a Flying Monkey attacks.
• Emerald City: The streets are barren. The Horse of a Different Color did not make it, and is now a scarecrow steed. Hiding in the buildings, are more scarecrows.
• Hogs: Entering the Wizard's castle, guests are greeted by a bunch of hogs, who are making a meal out of Dorothy. A giant hog, a puppet like the giant pumpkin from Pumpkin Eater, will attack guests.
• Prison: Down into the dungeons. In the cells are various recognizable dissidents - The Tinman begs for release, crying, and Jack Pumpkinhead tries to escape, his face rotted. Scarecrows are also hidden in the mix, and will escape to terrorize guests.
• Oz's Throne: Guests finally meet the Mad King Scarecrow. He sits in a throne, where the Giant Hologram Head of Oz used to be, taunting guests. A Winky Scarecrow will attack.
• FINALE: King Scarecrow has grown weary of you, and has sentenced you to death. You exit the maze through a giant furnace, where bones are scattered about, and burning scarecrows will lunge out at guests.

...was that too dark? I feel like I might have crossed a line when Dorothy bites it. Still like the scene, though, if only because no one's going to expect that in Oz.

How about when Scarecrow dies, he gets pushed into the fire by Tin Man, sacrificing himself to end Scarecrow's madness, as Scarecrow begs for one of his subjects to save him, as his face is the last thing to be enveloped in firs?
