HHN 2011: Hostel: Hunting Season

... I'd be excited for Scream even if I saw it for miles. ... or Evil Dead... or Poltergeist... or ofcourse TRICK R TREAT. Just sayin'. The property just isn't something to be excited about. I literally had no reaction hearing the news. At least for The Thing, I was like "yesssss" on the inside and we've BEEN KNOWING that was coming.

If they ever pull Poltergeist I will literally crappy my pants and die, in that order. I would give anything to hear a SA say "you left the bodies and you only moved the headstones!"

Sorry to pull us off-topic. Please, proceed.

I'm actually glad to hear hostel will be coming to horror nights. I don't think i really had any reaction for the first two because we talk about them so much that it felt that they were for sure coming lol. Now in relation to Saw i can see the only things being reused is 1) a few props and 2) the same idea of walking through scenes and watching victims get tortured while distracting you from a scare opportunity. Other than that i'm excited to see the possible environments they'll be using, characters, effects, gore level etc. Now i'm sure they'll utilize the elite with chainsaws in a SZ protecting the entrance to the warehouse but it would be even cooler to see them used in the maze. We haven't really had a chainsaw scare in a maze since TCM and if they do some similar scares that would be pretty cool. All in all i cant complain on this maze its something NEW, probably one of the most important components i wanted to see this year. therefore i'm going to give this maze a chance first and if i don't like it well that will be a different story. I'm sure Murdy and his team are gonna take the gore to a different level

Eh, this should be ok. There isn't much in terms of environments or cool visuals or even a recognizable killer, but it should be a visceral and gory maze that's fun to go through. And I would definitely take this over a third year of Saw. So yeah... not much I have to say about this one. Hostel part 2 sucks, though.

I am not a huge fan of Hostel and therefore was not overly pumped about the maze announcement, but I was never a huge fan of the Saw franchise either and the mazes were great so I am officially stoked to see what they do with this. I'm sure the gore gags will be sufficiently over-the-top and the environment/setting will probably be the most straight-up scary, dread-inducing of any maze this year. There was something about Saw that really made you feel helpless and I expect the same feeling from Hostel.

Everyone bags on Saw which was always one of my favorite mazes it was a total immersion enviroment down to the smells. If Hostel is anything like that I would rank it as a good maze.

no one is bagging on SAW (well at least the Game over whcich rocked Game on last year kinda was a let down) there just upset over the slight simulairities between the two.

I thoroughly enjoyed both Saw mazes, despite the fact that the second one was only slightly tweaked. Also, I guess I get the similarities of an industrial warehouse type setting and lots of gore but other than that the two films are very different. This maze is not going to be Saw 3. I'm sure they will be comparable in various ways but I fully expect Hunting Season to be an exciting, original and thoroughly terrifying maze.

I shall tell you all like this, Forget what you've seen with SAW:Game Over/On

Remember this is an entirely different movie, YES there is torture traps, BUT the whole surrounding lair

the inside of the Hostel, the place where "Fantasies, Pleasure , and Pain" all drift into one,

I recently went back and watched both movies and I can assure you this maze WILL BE BETTER than Saw

the mixture of Atmosphere, Adrenaline, Torture and Seclusion will make this maze 10000x better than what we've had before

they may both be torture porn movies, but both have different premises

Saw gave the people a chance to live, the idea of one to realize what they've done made them pay for their actions

With Hostel, once your set in your done for, there's no escape, they pay for you to be hooked up and tortured by any means of their choice, Chainsaw, Knifes, Razors,

and the best part of it all NO PIGS!!! :D

yeah I been excited for this one, and its more of people getting tortured instead of just being set in a trap.

To clarify, not filled. He said one for the facade a la Halloween 2 years ago, and one inside the maze. Less than the number of those "micronap" things they pulled in NOEM last year. I love shadow gags personally, its a classic and when pulled off right, it has a huge effect on the ambiance.

I think Hostel might actually enter from the other side of the lower lot this year, near the Mummy. Transformers construction is completely blocking the old route.

 Where would the enter? This is going to be interesting to watch.

Also, a new photo of Murdy inside Hostel has been released: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1494295294260&set=o.144037302333457&type=1&theater
