  1. USH would really need to run out of ideas to get a Slenderman maze.
  2. Don't worry, you won't ever have to know.
  3. I think the whole "steady decline since the black album until their music became unlistenable" thing was worse than cutting their hair.
  4. "No, no it was the woods themselves! They're alive Ashley, the trees, they're alive!"
  5. It will help. I imagine there has to be some kinda video to explain the concept that you are a new recruit as opposed to one of the chosen victims.
  6. Reverse the direction of the branches and you pretty much have the same font for the current HHNO FB page.
  7. The cubes would have to be before the finale. Unless the monsters were all shoved back in there, having them in their holding cubes after you are attacked by them wouldn't make sense.
  8. It would certainly tie into the theme of punishment/you getting what you deserve.
  9. I pictured a cube filled with fog and a scareactor hidden inside. Could be creepy and an easy jump scare. Also, if one of the cubes didn't actually have a door on it and allowed for the scareactor to reach beyond the assumed safe zone it could be a nice setup, especially if the next cube over has a chainsaw wielding character or something else sound based. So much potential.
  10. People who haven't seen CITW are going to be confused by pretty much everything.
  11. True, but the GP and MOST fans don't bother with construction pictures in late June. Right now anybody with the power to google can access the information, if they care.
  12. Well with the pretty huge maze leak that happened, you know they are going to make construction pics harder.
  13. The original ED movies have way more GP recognition than AWIL. And about the same amount as The Thing did in 2007. Certainly more than People Under the Stairs had in 2006. How this will play out as far as the direction the house...well not sure. Using scenes from the original movies in some way does benefit A&D since while the usable scenes the sequel/prequel does have are very memorable, there's not too many of them. There's a distinctly different aesthetic between the prequel/sequel and the original series, but Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are involved with ED2013.
  14. New Line signed up for three more years. TWD has been cancelled in lieu of Furry Cuteger.
  15. Dead Rising would be a good scarezone. Theme an area pf the park like a mall and bam. It also doubles as a Dawn of the Dead scarezone.
  16. I trust that A&D wouldn't mess it up that badly. HHN A&D isn't infallible, but that would be downright stupid. Imagine what a massive letdown that would be to...everyone. Not only would that be actively focusing similar characters/settings as ED, they would be ignoring the part of CITW that made it a hit. That would be worse than doing a Friday the 13th maze and only having Pamela Voorhees for the entire maze.
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Fish Albert Fish isn't comparable to Ed Gein. As sordid as Gein's tale is he didn't rape, torture, and eat little children. Nor is Ed Gein comparable to the extra layer of ohno that comes with adding a political angle to murder.
  18. I said a while back that CITW's backstory fits into Fear. Evil Dead kinda fits into CITW and Fear in a way, I mean aside from the obvious connections. In the remake (KINDA SPOILERS TO FOLLOW) the book involves a series of brutal rituals that need to be performed to awaken the beast. CITW is a giant ritual as well. All of the ties to ritual/a beast being awakened/put to sleep. CITW plays with the notion that horror movie victims welcomed their own punishment, La Llorona was used to make sure behaved well or else she would get you. In AWIL they were told to beware the moon and stay on the road, they didn't. David was told to kill himself before he kills others, he didn't. Prisons obviously are punishment for misdeeds, and the penal system, especially the death penalty, is used as a way to scare people away from committing crimes. There's the whole ritual of crime and punishment. The rituals involved in the death penalty. The circle of being killed for your crimes of killing. A lot of stuff about manifested fear, ritual, and punishment. When you go to a haunt you're asking for death. After being of the dangers you are about to face, you still willingly enter an environment where everything wants to kill you. Everything tells us to stay away, but we enter anyway because of our bravado. Daniel Truman: [seeing zombies] They're like something from a nightmare. Lin: No, they're something nightmares are from. Also, I'm really excited to see what Orlando does with La Llorona. Should be great.
  19. Due to Son of Sam laws you wouldn't need to get the rights to do it, since you can't own the rights to serial killers. Personally, if I heard HHNO was having a mind of Gein maze I'd be over there in a second since I'm a true crime nerd. Yeah the lines that are drawn are weird between a real killer being used and a fake killer that was inspired by real killers being the focal point or even event icon. Norman Bates was loosely based on Ed Gein as was Leatherface. Freddy Kruger is an extremely popular horror icon and it's canon that he's a pedophile child killer, like Albert Fish. How much you can feature something before it becomes the focal point etc. etc. and so on. There's a ton of x and y factors that have to be considered with what the GP finds too offensive, even for something like HHN as JDW said.
  20. They did a lot more than mention the real life killers. The first scene had a wall covered in serial killers. After that was the prop Ed Gein (announced over the maze's sound system) standing above a chopped up corpse with a cleaver plunged into her flesh. Then there was a prop Albert Fish with his name written in huge letters over him. They featured a real life child killer. It wasn't the focus, but it was the central feature of a few rooms. I know why they are there, but HHN still chose to use that property and include those scenes. Personally I thought it was a nice touch, but I know a lot of people would be really offended by using a real life serial killer. But the political angle does change things. Especially since our current president gets more way death threats than previous presidents. On this coast people were really offended about Mitt Romney jokes. Of course they were fine with the gay jokes, black jokes, domestic abuse jokes, and the implied rape of Justin Bieber. But making fun of Mitt Romney was too far. I'm not sure where the GP draws the line and how to compare Hollywood's GP to Orlando's GP and the effect Disney has on the area (didn't that cause some hub bub with Bloody Mary billboards?) but I'm just throwing info out there to consider. It is also noteworthy that since Orlando is looking at La Llorona, there's going to be some drowned children which is going to ruffle the feathers of people who don't get that something called "Halloween Horror Nights" is going to be gruesome at times.
  21. The Caretaker was based partly on Mengele and USH featured multiple serial killers in the HOTC maze. So it's hard to say what is too far.
  22. Well, you are coming from a mostly pro-current HHN standpoint. You see that there are imperfections, but you like the event overall. So to you, it doesn't make much sense to just not go. To you, the pros outweigh the cons so you go, as most decisions work. If you were the kind of person who was so let down with HHN 2012 that you felt the need to compare people who were so let down as much as you are to some of the greatest minds in history, it would make sense not to go. If you were to say thing like " I can guarantee you this, for all the people who laugh and mock, if you gave the three of us the ability to drive the future of HHN, you'd understand. Unfortunately most don't see" it would make sense to just not go. Even if nothing else is nearby. If you have so much vested interest in not liking HHN 2012 that you will band together with your brothers and defend them as the martyrs you are, not going is the best choice. Liking the event but having criticisms of it isn't the same as identifying yourself as a sacred protector of the gospel of 2013 was garbage. I think most people here at least like HHN (otherwise why be a part of this forum? Just to complain? Cool...I guess? ) and have criticisms. Which is great. I think most everyone critiques things they like. It makes sense. If you are really immersed into something you are going to have some problems with it. It shows that you are actively engaging the material. But if you really just hate something as badly as some of the people in this thread do, it makes much more sense to not partake in whatever it is. Especially something as expensive as HHN.
  23. You can have a point of view, that's great. Congratulations for having a point of view! Thing is, everyone here has a point of view. So if you say things in a forum, you are going to have people respond to you. That's how forums work. When you compare not liking HHN as much as you did in the past to having a vision like Leonardo da Vinci, Tesla, and Archimedes you are being silly and people are going to call you silly for doing it. If you act like a martyr because nobody gets HHN like you get it, that's silly. When you say that the plebeians just can't see what you see you can't expect anyone to read that and take it seriously. If you are that sure of your ability to drive the future of HHN, do as many others have done and make your own haunt. If you really believe everything you've said so far, make your own haunt. It's been done by a lot of people all across the country, so I'm sure the Archimedes of haunted houses could do it pretty well. Edit: You also clearly have no idea what the definition of "humble" is.
  24. On the other hand, we're talking about a theme park attraction. No need to bring Archimedes into this, especially when you are talking about how you like HHN on such a deeper level than 99% of the great unwashed. Seriously.
