  1. Read the post and thought it was a little much. I share your disappointment with IPs, but maybe going at the guy on Twitter isn't the right answer. Certainly thought you had good points...still, you should be taking it out on marketing, not Mike. If anything, I think Mike is the only reason we get any original content. Without him, it'd be all IPs.
  2. I just hope this year is FTWD. Last season of TWD was a total snooze fest. Perhaps that's why TWD didn't lead the house announcements; they're waiting for the show's premiere.
  3. Guessing we're getting American Horror Story Freak Show. Either that or Jimmy's video is a reference to Carnival of Carnage.
  4. Thank goodness for a London scare zone, if it's true. Way too much dead space in the park last year. From Kidzone to SF, it was completely empty.
  5. Seconded on the Christmas light room. Certainly not frightening, but damn cool.
  6. Gryla is wicked! Don't see Uni ever using Black Pete. Imagine that PR nightmare.
  7. This could be a decent IP year if The Walking Dead is left out. Kraumpus, Crimson Peak, Hitchcock, American Horror Story, and Dr. Who all make for interesting properties. I know nothing of the latter, but looking through this list, http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/doctorwho/characters/aliens/ , has me intrigued. Still holding out hope for Treehouse of Horror, The Shining, Hellraiser, or Twin Peaks one of these years. What's the consensus on IP to original content ratio this year? Half and half? It'd be nice to have one year without IP's, but I fear those days are long gone.
  8. What's up with the Jaws photo? Is there any possibility they'll do a JAWS house?
  9. Here's an idea... What if Universal decided to sell a Skeleton Key type of access pass? It'll give you access to an exclusive room at the beginning of the house which sets up the story. Each skeleton key room is an introduction to the house by one of the former mascots. At the end of the presentation, you are scared into the house where the line has been held to allow you to go through the maze mostly alone with the skeleton group.
  10. Damn wish I had hit Dead End twice that year. I only got one run in and it was during a cast change. Don't recall seeing a single scare actor.
  11. Anyone know if there was a connection between The Boogeyman at Singapore and the one we were suppose to get? Hope it eventually comes to fruition
  12. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Twin Peaks would make an incredible IP house.
  13. These are all reasons why I found the post amusing. Thought it would be something you guys would shake your head and laugh at. I was slightly off on that one. Another part I found laughable: [quot]Another thing to keep in mind is that after the successful American Werewolf in London in 2013 followed by the incredible Halloween house in 2014, I've got a feeling that the HHN staff may be ready to bring another classic to life in grand scale once again... but the question is, which one? I'd love to see one based on the new Krampus film, but as that movie wont even hit theaters until the end of 2015, we may have to wait another year. and finally, I've got one that may be a long shot... lets talk about "31". This is Rob Zombie's latest project, and it hasn't been shot yet, but if it moves ahead fast enough, the theme sounds like something that would warm Jack's cold heart. The plot is said to be about a group of 5 people kidnapped and rushed away to a place called Murder World just before Halloween, where they have to play a deadly game... survive in Murder World for 12 hours while being stalked by an gang of murderous Clown themed characters. Talk about a great theme for an HHN maze...
  14. I certainly found this funny: What is most likely not to happen? I could be wrong here, but I'm thinking we may see The Walking Dead take a break this year. After tapping that vein so many years in a row, I think they give it an epic send off last year and I just can't see it coming back again this year, no matter how popular the show still is. They would be better off avoiding it entirely this year, and maybe looking into the new spin-off show for subject matter in 2016 instead if they want to go back to that world once again
  15. If anyone wants a good laugh, head on over to Screamscape.com.
  16. Wishful thinking here, but I'd love to see a Twin Peaks house. Walking through the Black Lodge with all the doppelgangers would be freaky.
  17. If the house is well made and delivers the scares, it will be accessible. In 2013, I heard people saying AWiL was the best house and they had never seen the movie.
  18. Happy to hear we might be getting a Dark Christmas house. If we only get 3-4 originals again, I hope this is one. As for the IP's...not very exciting. Walking Dead is overrated (I find myself still hate watching it though), American Horror Story is disjointed, and The Purge is a poorly made franchise which isn't all that scary. The only thing I'm holding out hope for is a quality Hitchcock house, although I'm worried about continuity between rooms.
  19. I'd like to play along on the "Streets as Houses, Houses as Scarezone" concept... Houses: Acid Assault Bayou of Blood (focuses on Voodoo Priestess sacrifices) Treaks and Foons Asylum in Wonderland The Path of the Wicked Boogeyman (inspired by Singapore) Dark Christmas (inspired by Hollywood) Night Prey 7 Scarezone: Demon Catina Gothic Hellgate Prison PsychoScareapy Scary Tales These are based on praise for the original content and concepts I found most intriguing.
  20. I've been working on the idea of a house based on the Salem Witch trials. As you move through the house, you discover there are no witches and the witch slayings are a form of entertainment for the town.
  21. The Walking Dead is best left as a scare zone. Nothing more.
  22. Having known about the event since Islands of Fear, I truly wish I could have started going sooner. However, since going for my first time in 2012, I must say it's gotten better each year. I suspect it'll continue this trajectory next year. There's no way 2015 won't top 2012-2014.
  23. I think he litterally misses them. Like the way you'd miss your blanket when you were three.
  24. Where did you pick up the A&D cards? I went to the front of the park and didn't see anyone.

    Halloween

OK here's some cool shit that happened during my last two runs on Saturday night: Going through during the day was pretty cool since I had no one in front of me and my group received every scare. Ambiance of the dark was missing, but the timing was spectacular. Also had a chance to take in all the details. Everything about this house was so well done. Later that night, I went in during the last 10 minutes. I watched the light show for the final time, which left me alone for half the house. During the scene where Michael stabs the guy to the wall, I encountered a PERFECT strobe effect. After he stabbed the wall, the lights went off, then strobed back on and Myers was IN MY FACE WITH THE KNIFE. Holy shit the knife wasn't but an inch to my eyeballs. Going back to being alone for half the house...I really wanted to be alone the entire run. However, the reason I caught the line was because the Michael Myers that pops out through the "sheet ghost" actually GRABBED A GIRL AND TOOK HER BACK WITH HIM! I'm sure he knew her--or she worked at Universal--but it was awesome! Her friend wasn't in on it, because she was standing alone in the corridor with her hands to her mouth saying "What do I do?" Anyways, really cool seeing some closing night surprises on my last time through my favorite HHN house.
