  8. "White whale" is originated from Moby Dick. Captain Ahab spent his entire life chasing down Moby Dick (literally a white whale), and was ready to sacrifice pretty much anything to finally kill the beast. It basically means something you've been trying to chase down for a long time. IE: The IP rights to The Shinning.

  10. You'll love it! It'll be a great exercise in courage for you just like it always is for me, and tons of fun! I have a couple bits of advice for you as well, to keep you from getting too scared and thus lessen the likelihood of pants- wetting: 1) In Houses, always stay in the center of the path, DO NOT get too close to the walls on either side. Scareactors often hide in secret passages and hidden alcoves in the walls, known as "Boo- holes," and if you get too close to a wall where one of those is, then for the Scareactor inside it's like thrusting a steak in front of a starving man. 2) Also in Houses, be aware of your surroundings. They love using tactics like distraction (i.e. getting your attention to one spot with a Scareactor or special effect, so they can then nail you from behind with another Scareactor or effect) and camouflage (i.e. Dressing in special costumes to blend into the wall or decorations in order to then pop out at people) to nail unsuspecting visitors.

  11. Fright Rags is my hands-down favorite, but I agree that Redbubble is pretty great. I can also recommend TeePublic (nice shirts, TERRIBLE search engine). For more horror-specific sites, I also like November Fire and Rotten Cotton, and for general Halloween images, Sinister Visions. Yes, I own a LOT of t-shirts. Happy shopping!

  12. Well my original plan was to send my friend first and never let her go. Unless we were being chased then everyone for themselves! So a substitute is a great idea. Guessing the blinky cup won't cut it, and I doubt my mobile will enjoy being crushed so suggestions very welcome. And yes that's what's the most appealing thing about the whole event for me. The knowledge that no matter what happens it's not real (even if at the time it feels very real), and you'll be able to look back and laugh at it. It's the adrenaline rush and overall experience I'm looking forward to, and memories that will stay with me forever (whether I want them to or not). As for Ellen it'll be Hollywood right? I'm guessing insidious won't let them film, ash vs evil dead won't be that well known, shining might have legal issues so my money is on AHS. Whatever maze they use it's guaranteed to be hillarious

  13. What maze do you think Ellen's gonna ship her assistant into this year? I think the Shining and Jigsaw

  14. I showed this exact video to my parents when I said I wanted to do HHN for my 30th (they went 13 years ago for their one and only time at HHN). My Dad's exact words to me were "you know you're not going to survive there right?" My Mam then chipped in with her blow by blow account of Castle Vampyre and how she nearly throttled the guy on the four poster bed that made her scream on each side of it. My Mam never swears, but apparently after the third scare from him she told him where to go haha. The censored version was something like "just.....just....urgh......bugger off!" That is what has made me want to do this for years. It's gonna be absolutely terrifying, but it's gonna give you lots of stories to tell, and memories you'll keep with you forever. As long as I don't wet myself, and get my blinky cup (or a couple - good souvenirs) and a few stories to tell I'll be happy. As an aside, I know you regulars are bored of the purge, but for me this is the one scarezone im really looking forward to having only seen videos of it online. It's such a great concept, and yes they may have milked it for all it's worth at HHN, but so glad I'm going to get the chance to experience it properly before it's gone forever.
