Alright this review is based the opening night. I know the event always gets better as time goes on.

I will be listing the houses In the order I did them.

Houses:

La Llorona

This house had some cool effects and actually surpassed my expectations. The Llorona's were getting good scares on me and the sets were cool.

Only 1 set confused me, you enter a bluish/white sheet tunnel. I don't get what that was supposed to be, going through water I guess?

The house had perfect lighting that night.

Scare- Factor: 8 /10

Overall: 8/10

Walking Dead: no save haven

I am a walking dead fan, so for me, I loved walking through the sets. But the house was too lit up. I could see every zombie in every location. The zombies do need to be more aggressive. They did act like actual zombies from the show though, so I do award them that.

Is it a upgrade from last years maze? Yes, it definitely is. The sets are not as wide, so not many open rooms except for the finally.

Scare factor: 3/10

Overall: 4/10

Reason for low score: This house did not impress me much nor scare me much and I scare easy. I hope to see this house improve.

Afterlife: Death's Vengeance

I loved this house, this is my 3rd favorite house. The sets are cool and colorful, the effects are extremely good. You have a room on its side with the police officer who killed him standing up on the side. There is a fricking mirror maze in there. If I did not have a guy in front of me, I would have gotten lost in the mirror section. There are 3 returning costumes from the Inbetween in this house. At the end I mistakenly reached for the Scareactor curtain thinking it was the way out, The actor popped out and got me good.

Scare Factor: 7/10

Overall: 8/10

Havoc: Derailed

I enjoyed this house. The actors did a great job improvising when we got halted in one area. The train crash was actually quite cool. They hang dozens of stuff in your face along with the air bags on the side. The scareactors shoot pressurized air in the area. It felt like I was on a train and that alone was a job well done. But, I didn't get many scares out of this house.

Scare factor: 5/10

Overall: 6/10

Evil Dead

This was my favorite house. I loved everything about this house. The original book reading In the beginning from the original evil dead was really cool. The effects were awesome. The scare actors got some great scares on me. The sets were spot on with the movie. My mother, who I was guiding through, had to close her eyes when we reached the dead cats in the basement. The raining blood scene is one of my favorite scenes from this maze. The energy in that scene was great.

Scare factor: 10/10

Overall: 10/10

Resident Evil

This house was good but not great. I saw the scares happen but didn't receive much my self. The sets were really cool. the detail was great, the pause room was good. but 2 costumes bothered me. Nemesis, His costume didn't look right. The head looked too big for the body. I was a Nemesis bobble head using a chain gun. The house was short, but that wasn't to bad for me. They did need more zombies in the final scene, 2 zombies is not enough.

Scare factor: 5/10

Overall: 7/10

American Werewolf in London

Holy crap this maze. Freaking amazing. This was my 2nd favorite maze. The puppets that were used were great. the detail of the scenes were great. These guys got some great scares out of me and I applaud them for it. I loved seeing Jack in it a few times as well as all the familiar scenes. This house is one that must be experienced for ones self. As a side note, I swear I saw the TARDIS in the maze.

Scare factor: 9/10

Overall: 9/10

Cabin in the woods

I have mixed feelings on this house. It was a bit short, no unicorn and the merman is a static prop. Now aside from that, I did find the creature to be cool looking, I saw the Sugarplum fairy in the box. Sadly, she never leaves the box. The most memorable scene from this maze for me was this. We had gotten disconnected from the group in front, so we went in to the purge scene. I saw the light go out and blink, I said "oh shit" and all the doors opened with scareactors coming out. that was really good. But other than that, kinda lackluster.

Scare factor: 6/10

Overall 6/10

Bill and Ted

This showing of Bill and Ted was not a bad one. there were great joke in some areas. Good god I loved George Lucas. This was not a bad year for them. They also did Miley Cyrus with the VMAs and such. I walked away happy.

Overall event: 8/10

The scarezones work well and the zombie van was a great touch. New York is the main scare zone area this year, but so is Hollywood boulevard and up to the kidzone. There was no really dead area up that street.

The room you mention in La Llorona is the transition room. Everything before that you are above water, Then you transition into La Llorona's underwater realm and the rest of the house you are underwater.

Ok, thanks for the clarification, I thought it was something to do with water due to the sound effects and that. I just couldn't piece it together.

I do hope they lighten up where the ghost children are, I almost ran into the wall if La Llorona didn't pop out with a strobe that showed the mirror there.
