  1. I enjoyed The Thing. Unessary? Yes. Waste of money? No. Would have liked to have seen no CGI for the initial human contact attacks though. And completely separate, but the production team messed up big time on the continuity of Lars' dog. ♫ "One of these things is not like the other." ♪ Get it?! lolz

I'm kind of in-between liking the new movie and not liking it...

  2. Meetup for The Thing confirmed for 3PM! : ) Come on out and join us for some scares!

  3. No, no, no... I'm sick. : (

  4. I picked the worst freaking night to go to HHN as a guest. lol Can't remember the last time I was so soaked or cold. hah We had a great time last night though!

  5. Substituted my planns of visiting Howl-O-Scream on October 22nd for a discounted rate on my FL motorcycle endorsement. I think that's fair, considereing that the two came down to almost the exact same price. : )

I've just been riding with Dennis the past few years as a passenger. I've wanted a motorcycle since I was about 9 though. lol He traded in his cruiser this weekend for a sports bike, and we have a friend that we've been trying to buy a secondary bike from. The idea is that the secondary one will be for me to learn how to ride on and for him to learn some basic mechanic skills with. I figured that I should take the classes now, just in case.

  6. I loved the bat that you brought through Grown Evil on Saturday. : ) Where ever did you find it? I kind of want one for myself. lol

  7. So far, we've been reminded at least twice a night not to pose for any photos unless it's absolutely necessary, like you've been cornered or something. That's why I've only been staying around you for a little while at a time when you visit.
  8. Regarding the subject of Hell Week, my understanding has always been that any week surpassing the usual 4 nights, Thursday through Sunday, is considered a Hell Week. It usually involves the park hours being extended as well. Most years, we end up with two Hell Weeks. This year Hell Week #1 is 5 days and Hell Week #2 is 6 days. : ( To clarify about crowds, there's no real way to know for sure if there will be a big crowd. Yes, those weeks do see higher attendance rates, but that doesn't necessarily mean that queue lines are going to double in wait time or anything like that. My advise is the same as most other members' who have responded: if you've been before and know your way around the event or park, you'll be able to do everything that your heart desires. Just don't squander your time. If this is your first year, then I recommend coming two nights instead of one in order to see and experience everything that's available. It all depends on your budget though.
  9. The first year I started working the event, 2008, was also the first year I attended as a guest. I asked for opening night off, got it, and hence got to experienced HHN for myself before officially becoming a scare-actor (not counting employee preview). I was 20 years old. The first house I went in was Body Collectors: Collections of the Past. There was a Gentleman towards the beginning of the house who sort of swung down at you from this narrow, staircase style boo-hole as you walked by. I had to be dragged into the next room by my friend who had went with me. My legs had given out, and I'd dropped to the ground. lol The single most intense scare I've ever had at HHN.
  10. That's a beautiful shot! : ) And I'd be happy to pose for a little while. You've just got to get close enough for me to recognize you. hah
  11. Just to throw it out there, I bought the deck of cards, the house shirt, and the limited edition pin at the Twister gift shop yesterday at about 4:30PM. I also saw the lady's tank top, the hoodie, the lanyard, the key-chain, the two shot glasses, and the icon shirt there as well. Basically, they had everything but the Annual Pass Holder pin (which can "only" be bought at the Universal Store within the park). It's all a matter of buying what you want ASAP, as a few members have already stated on this thread. If carrying around your merchandise for the rest of the evening is that big of a deal, then rent a locker for the night at the front of the park. It's like $10. Problem solved.
  12. ♠ It's almost showtime, Folks... : )

  13. Total Nights - Can't really keep track. I'll be running through the houses as much as possible on the nights I don't close. Saws n' Steam - 0 Bloodengutz - 1 The Thing - 1 Nightingales - 1 Winters Nights - 1 Forsaken - 0 In Between - 0 Nevermore - 0
  14. There is a general release pin. There was a picture of it in the Employee Preview event guide. The style of the pin is very similar to the Rockabilly style of the shot glasses. I've yet to hear if there will be a guest artist pin this year though.
  15. You were a perfect gentleman, and I have absolutely no problem posing for guests who act as respectful as you did. : ) I just really appreciate that sort of thing because I've spent the past three years dealing with snap camera flash assaults in the houses. I try to ask for permission as best I can when I go as a guest too. I felt bad for the actor who I kept calling Mrs. Bates in Horrorwood in 2009. He was a good sport about it though. lol
  16. Awesome, Wilson! : ) There's a picture of me in there. heh By any chance, are you the person who asked me if you could take my picture, and then later I said that I wished more guests were like you? lol
  17. Just to clarify as well, I very much enjoyed going through this house last night. It's the one I most anticipated, and I'll definitely be going back through it every chance I get. I don't want anything in the house to be changed in the slightest, but I do wish that people's attitudes would improve regarding this specific concern. It does create a very immersive environment that is not as theatrical as I would have imagined, and I'm not talking about the Nightingales when I say this. They're obviously fictional, and guest perception has been crafted by Universal to feel exactly that way: not real. I'm talking about the actual trenches and setting, the sound effects, etc. I made my previous statement as a courtesy in a hypothetical situation. As cerebral as that is, I stand by it. It felt believable to me. Some parts more than others (won't get into it until the event opens), but overall it was enough for my after impression to be, "That felt very real."
  18. After Employee Preview last night, this is my opinion: if I had a serviceman or woman that I was close to, and they asked me for my honest opinion as a civilian, I would suggest that they not risk going in this house. For me it felt very, very real, and I have no realistic way of imagining what war actually feels like for a soldier.
  19. Employee Preview, Winter's Night: Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery... First of all, this house is just exquisite. Secondly, the scares are intense. To the Weeping Angel at the very beginning of the house (and at about 12:50AM), you sent a chill down my spine. Not a single person is going to legitimately know whether or not you are real, which makes you seriously terrifying in my book. A big shout out to the girl in the hallway that had a miniature 3D landscape model visibly behind the crypt wall (also around 12:50AM). You got me really good. I was the first one in my group, and I stopped to peer through a hole in the bricks once we got into your hallway. I literally said, "Oh, WOW, look at that. A miniatur," and then you came up from below and popped your head in front of the break. I screamed and jumped back. lol Great, great scare! : )
  20. There is no House of the Year contest for 2011: all 8 truly deserve to share the title in their own individual ways. I've yet to say so utterly and so proudly that I'm a monster at Halloween Horror Nights.

  21. For those going to Employee Preview tonight, be sure to come play in my garden for a little while! : ) Provided it doesn't thunder and pour, of course. lol

  22. Glad I'm not the only one who got that impression. lol That yellow is... honestly disgusting. Coordinators, please keep the drunks away from that stage. No need to give them any ideas. Checkout the closed Construction thread if you haven't seen the most recent pictures of the platforms... you'll see what I'm talking about.
  23. lol I'm afraid it's not Evil Bong. Totally separate story, but in 2008 we watched Idle Hands one night during our breaks. I'd never seen it before. That movie is almost as ridiculous as Evil Bong. hah
  24. Why do I have a feeling that the final game and Luck's back story are going to be revealed tonight while I'm working Employee Preview? That's not meant to be cryptic, karma just has a lovely way of nipping me in the butt when it comes to this sort of stuff.
  25. Perhaps not something made in their generation, but something they would be of age to appreciate upon conception. : 3 ... .. . Cross Idiom. . .. ... *runs back into the shadows but trips because her equilibrium is that of a toddler's*
