  1. I've watched all of the walkthrough videos of this house (the ones in infrared, as well as the ones lit with camera light, and show light). The masks are absolutely wretched in their execution on the actor. At the VERY least, give the actor some eye makeup so it doesn't blatantly look like they are wearing a mask. Pale white cheeks peering through the eye holes of a dark brown/reddish walker mask just looks absolutely terrible. Same goes with the neck lines. It's very noticeable, even in the show lighting walkthrough video. It was only a preview event and maybe they were under staffed in the makeup department, but seeing as this was a media event, you'd think they would want to make the best impression possible. If I were an actor in this house, I would show up to call with dark eye makeup already on, just in case the makeup department doesn't have time to add it. The masks COULD be effective, if the makeup team spent an extra few minutes adding eye/cheek/neck makeup to the actors. In their current state, they are not.
  2. Some of the makeups look pretty good, while others don't. Looks like the masks are back again too :-( If you are going to put an actor in a mask, at least put some makeup around their eyes for cryin out loud haha. Reddish brown walker mask over a super pale white face (with white cheeks peering through the eye holes) looks absolutely terrible. The layout of the house looks pretty cool though and I am definitely looking forward to going through it. Hopefully the survivor on the truck with the gun will have lost his voice by the time I get through haha. His shouting gets very old, vey fast. I feel bad for the actors in the house if they have to listen to that all night every night for the next month.
  3. Haha, I love how TWD is at the bottom of the list. If presented to the GP, this poll would probably look the exact opposite.
  4. Whats going on with that mansion? Every level is access denied :-(
  5. Yeah the masks last year were terrible imo. The worst was when you had a scareactor wearing a zombie mask that was an entirely different race haha. For example, black actor with a white zombie mask just looks strange, and not in a good way (more so in a cheap way). There was zero blending happening with the zombie masks last year (at least in the street), and seeing protruding edges on an already halloween store quality mask really sucks you out of the immersion factor that the event is supposed to be delivering. I mean, Uni is a movie studio, would they let an actor walk out on a movie set looking like that? If they don't want to take a few minutes to blend a mask in with the actor, then make full head/neck masks and hide the edges in the clothing.
  6. I wonder if Uni will slowly "reveal" the pictures that were removed now... If thats the case, then they have spoiled yet another reveal haha.
  7. Pictures from Hollywoods makeup event (props to Designing the Fear for the link) : http://gamingshogun.com/2013/08/27/halloween-horror-nights-makeup-press-event/ Not sure if they can pull off that makeup for all zombies every event night, but those are some pretty impressive makeups. It absolutely destroys the zombie masks at Orlando last year.
  8. I waiting for the reveal that PS is related to BS in some way (not Bull Shit, but Boris Shuster).
  9. Looks like some old school washboards are setup in a bucket next to the RV. Gonna have to bring my spoons for a good ol fashioned hootenanny :-)
  10. Confirmed for 9/20, 9/21, 10/4, and 11/1 Definitely going to try and add a few more Fridays in there though :-)
  11. At first glance, I thought the Afterlife logo was a Bill & Ted reveal. Something about that font haha
  12. Hopefully they do something with those masks (mostly where they don't cover the neck of the actor). It will be darker in the Parade building and less noticeable, but last year (especially in the zone outside of the maze) the costumes looked incomplete mainly because of the neck issue. You could definitely tell they were just actors in masks which totally killed the immersion. Since Uni is a movie studio, I know they can do better than that.
  13. Couldn't be more excited that Orlando is not getting a Black Sabbath house. I mean, I like the group and they are legends, but I'm pretty much over rock legend houses after last year (apologies to anyone who worked in Alice Cooper). Murdy seems to have a serious "broner" for these types of houses, maybe because it's a way for him to meet rock icons that he idolized as a child. All I know is that the Sabbath maze holds zero interest for me, and I'm happy we aren't getting it in Orlando.
  14. "fore" one? Might be a hint that someone will be swinging a golf club in this house! Or maybe the Foresaken will appear as a guest monster
  15. Via the UORHHN Twitter account: "We will be releasing the 1st house for #HHN23 at midnight on 6/27. Get ready, once the evil has been released, there’s no turning back…" Woohoooo!!!!!!!
  16. Google is saying that Prof Bloodgood used to be some kind of old western photography attraction on the Universal Backlot tour in Hollywood. Is there anything named Bloodgood in USF?
  17. Also saw a couple of permits for Building 66. Anyone know where 66 is located? May have something to do with Potter and/or the Simpsons expansion
  18. Interesting permit here that was filed in November of 2012. It seems to be a fire alarm of some sort but the project name is what interests me the most...
  19. The hanging ghost always freaked me out the worst for some reason. I couldn't image a maze with a hanging ghost in it... Maybe in a few years, when Google Glass is a permanent fixture on everyone's face, they will be able to design a house with the proper ghost effects to capture the intensity of Fatal Frame.
  20. Obscure huh...hmm Camera Obscura? Fatal Frame house, in a prison, with Body Collectors Done
  21. Having to push your way through a hallway of sweaty back boobs just gives me the chills...
  22. Most of the time, I am completely blown away by the makeup design and effects work on the actors at HHN. This past year, I was most disappointed with TWD makeup. The majority of the actors did a great job, but I can't for the life of me figure out why Uni went with the mask selection that they used. The mask itself looked pretty cool, but it was unfinished. Having a full head/neck mask (that covered the neck/shoulders and tucked into the clothing) would have done wonders for the effect, and it's not that much more material to add when already creating the mask (I have experience as a fledgeling mask maker). It was most noticeable in the streets so I'm not sure if the house actors had the same mask or not (I assume they would). Seeing a zombie who's hands and neck are a different skin tone then the mask they are wearing (and seeing the raised edges of the mask around the neck) instantly sends the entire costume into cheesy halloween store territory. For a park that prides itself on movie quality effects, those masks were far from camera ready in my opinion. If Uni is going to continue to raise the price of admission, this is one area I would like to see addressed. Use the extra income on more makeup/effects artists and don't settle for anything that they wouldn't want to put on camera for one of their movies.
  23. Sad we didn't get a "guesses" video from Dr Jimmy for cryptic #8 :-( I was looking forward to him explaining my guess of "back boobs" to the audience, haha.
  24. Haha, love your "Simon" impression from my guess Dr Jimmy. "Don't look at my BUM!" A house based on Mike Myers' ass would indeed be scary. Then again, Mike Myers could be the real clue...(as in Michael Myers)
  25. Since it is HHN 22, each house will be a "dual-run" house. For example, one house location would hold Evil Dead AND Cabin in the Woods, each on their own path. 8 house locations + dual-run houses = 16 HOUSES!
