  4. Anybody know what's up with the always reliable Update Checker? http://horrornights.be/updatecheck.php I usually check that to see if anything updated that I might miss (like group sales)...and it doesn't have any of the house updates tracked or anything
  5. I assume this is some Hard Rock / Oldies / Hair Metal station in Florida? Just Curious. And no, I'm not bashing the house...who'd a thunk Presidents Day and Arbor Day would make for an awesome house? Alice Cooper, based on his music and appearances in movies such as being Freddy Kruger's abusive Father, seems to fit a hell of a lot more than Abe Lincoln. Then again, with Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter in theatres...maybe not. Ha ha ha.
  6. I was thinking the same thing, unless they leverage them as CHOICE or FREE WILL. Like one having a "Back Story" established that leads him down a path of murder and mayhem. And the other going down a path of the righteous...and hunted. A very weak idea, especially with the "Fact" that the P&T house is supposed to be in a Sprung Tent so it couldn't be a Dual Run that would play into this...but it's all I got
  7. One Sound Stage. Containing one large house structure. Two distinct pathways through it. So it's one structure, with basically two houses that might share half the walls or whatever. So the line would possibly be twice as long, but also twice as fast. And that's just my understanding...I've never been through one myself.
  8. Let me try to say this as delicately as I can....seeing as your gender is listed as female under your avitar, and Wesker said that the exact size requirements was for SELECT roles, I'm hoping for some nice, tight, skimpy outfits for the lady scareactors Well, that or super tight outfits that have "zombie skins" on top so they can have detailed, graphic strips of prosthetic flesh hanging off the horde of Zombies I hope to be outside of The Walking Dead. Either one would make me a very happy (dirty old) man.
  9. I think the sources are just confused and it will probably be the status quo....BUT, I know I'm in the minority, but I would love it if we had one less house and the extra scaractors, money, and props were put into the scare zones...including an extra. I love the houses...but after doing each 4 times or so on our yearly trip, I find myself enjoying the Scarezones more for the sheer variety/unpredictability of it. The houses, while the different casts, catching certain events (like the countdown clock), and other stuff can change it up a bit, I REALLY enjoy the scarezones that while similar in theme, you don't know what to expect. Again, not much along the lines of speculation and I expect 95% of people to disagree with me, but I'd be really happy if the more scarezones rumor is true
  10. It's a MOVIE theme park so a movie-centric HHN makes sense. And if you look at the movies to come out this summer, they are all sequels (too many to name), prequels (Prometheus...sorta), and Remakes/Reboots (Total Recall, Spider-Man). Everybody likes to talk about video game concepts at HHN, look at all the big games: Halo 4, Call of Duty #15ish, Madden Football #25ish, Bioshock 3, etc. Plus all the remake/HD collections and Halo Anniversary. Orginality can be hit (Ted) or miss (Drive)...but sequels sell. Prequels sell. Remakes sell. Top 10 opening weekends for movies All Time (I know, inflation and stuff...but I'm talkign current trends anyway): 1. Avengers - Sorta Sequel 2. Harry Potter 7 Part 2 - Sequel 3. The Dark Night - Sequel 4. The Hunger Games - Book Adaptation 5. Spider-Man 3 - Sequel 6. Twilight New Moon - Sequel 7. Twilight Breaking Dawn part 1 - Sequel 8. Pirates of the Caribbean DMC - Sequel 9. Iron Man 2 - Sequel 10. Harry Potter 7 Part 1 - Sequel Universal is a business...and "safe" makes the stockholders and execs feel VERY good. IPs will probably become more and more common. And while it's been shot down by A&D in the past, I think sequels to previous age of darkness houses and old Icons returning is all but set. Not necessarily this year, but I think it's a given. These are the movies everybody goes to see...and as a movie corporation, I would think that looking at what sells would be in their best interest. People like, and will spend more money, on the familiar stuff they already know they like.
  11. I have no problem with Universal selling tickets for so much. I know my first year going, we were the idiots who spent $70 for one night, liked is so much we did the Stay N Scream for another $40 on a Friday and then purchased another Sat ticket for $80. Feel stupid in hindsight, and I know I'm not the only one, but since then we've done the FFP and then one night of Stay & Scream...and have now moved onto the Rush of Fear + Express. We come from NY so we had no Publix, no FL Residence Discount, etc. Oh well, we came and the PRODUCT justified the price and we have since adapted and continue to come every year (minus one year). If you have to "pay your dues" and fill their coffers the first time for the benefit of "us"...I'm all for it (even being a victim myself). If the early planners, such as my group now, get a discount than good for us and the last seconders should have to pay more. It's like buying your concert/sporting event tickets on Stubhub at the last second...you have to expect it. I think $90 per night is absurd...but $70 for the Rush of Fear for like 10 days (not looking at the info, so just guestimating) is a steal. I have no problems with the ticket prices...so long as they continue to deliver the goods. I live less than 10 miles from http://www.headlesshorseman.com/ and let me tell you, $90 for one night of HHN blows the price they charge for this out of the water. This Headless Horseman is a great time...and you don't need Air Fare and Hotel Rooms to do it if you're me, but I have no problems shelling out the cash for the atmosphere, ambiance, quality, and immersiveness of HHN! It's worth it when you look at my local alternatives. I think some of the comments come from you "spoiled" Floridaers (OK, you have to deal with heat for 6 more months than me!) I look at it and think that $270 for tickets for a 3 day weekend is ridiculous, but given the ticket options, if you're in the know and can plan your trip more than 3 days in advance, you're getting your money's worth and then some! Caveat emptor: If it turns out we're getting screwed over and I feel cheated, I have the full option to reverse my opinion and rant from the other side! HA HA HA
  12. http://horrornights.be/2011web.php'>http://horrornights.be/2011web.php That's where you can see last year's shedule with all the info you want. From the http://horrornights.be main page, you can see the 2012 Update Checker and it will tell you whenever the website updates. Even if it's a change that doesn't go live so you can SEE the content, it will tell you that some coding has changed and give you a heads up that it's going to update pretty soon.
  13. If I remember correctly, I don't rememeber anybody saying they couldn't buy them last year on any of the forums...but I believe that the Rush of Fear plus Express (which isn't listed on the site yet, but I hope will be available) DID sell out. I think those are limited, and the RoF are basically unlimited as the event doesn't sell out any of the nights in Late Sept / Early Oct. I'm 99% sure you could buy the regular tix after the event started...and like 75% sure the Express ones sold out....but could easily be wrong. While the Rush Express isn't REALLY necessary as the event isn't horribly crowded, it was awesome to be able to go the event early hanging out in Finnegan's, get out early and do all the houses, then wander around enjoying the event until it got really dark and busy (and after embibing a decent amount of adult beverages) and then use the express to do them all again. Granted, some nights we didn't even use the express on some of the houses as the lines were tiny, but on other nights we avoided some 90min lines. If they had the pass the year of Saw, we could have avoided up to 180min lines...the longest I've ever seen going so early in Oct every year. It was less than the price of two one-night passes (though more than double than the regular RoF pass) so it was easy to justify it and after using it once, will never go back to non-express. You might want to look into it...especially if you're coming all the way over from England and only going a night or two.
  14. Ummmm, the Saws N Steam world had ZERO water, that's why they had to extract it from humans. Not at all like Bioshock that takes place underwater. No splicers. No little sisters. One sorta-kinda Big Daddy...which was just a period diving suit. If you saw it as based on Bioshock, that's fine...but it was based on Steampunk and the concept of everything running on steam and running out of water. Interstellar Terror was based as much on Dead Space as it was Alien, Aliens, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc....it was a generic space house. It was on a space ship with monsters. Again, it and the video game had a simiar theme, but that would be like saying that Stephen King's The Stand novel was plagarizing La Peste simply because it involved a post plague world. They might have similar themes, but couldn't be more different. Zobmiegeddon was based on every single zombie movie/game ever made. I've played both Left 4 Dead games and if they were based on them, they'd have to have a Boomer somewhere. They'd have to be fighting off the zombies with golf clubs. They'd have to have flashlights. Nowhere in L4D was it even implied that we were catching and domesticating zombies who broke out and took over a complex. Left 4 Dead basically takes place RIGHT after the outbreak when nobody knew what was going on and their sole goal in every level was to get to an extraction zone and get to safety. Not trying to argue, just saying when people say houses were based off something they clearly weren't, it bugs me. It would be like saying the Dracula house was based off Castlevania because it had a vampire.
  15. Ahhh, the yearly Silent Hill speculation. Last year, there were some nurse clues around Nightengales and we went on for PAGES about how it was Surely a Silent Hill house. At one point, coupled with some room names from Saws N Steam, there was a whole videogame themed event speculated because of the perceived Bioshock tie in. Then again, we DID get a Big Daddy-ish apperance at the end of that house...so maybe that was throwing a bone to all those speculating/drooling over the idea...so maybe a Silent Hill house isn't out of the realm of possibility, Better be a ton of hot nurses if that's the case
  16. Wow, that looks like a pretty solid confirmation: http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Camp_RV
  17. I didn't see any crazy drunks in the 4 nights I was there....with the exception of one girl (who looked about 15) repeatedly saying the following when pointing at Rip Rocket "I'm gonna ride that coaster like I ride a d**k". Quite entertaining drunk in my book. Did see some guy puking in a garbage can, and leaving the park some guy fighting with security about asking to see his manager....but no obnoxious drunks at all.
  18. I wasn't really looking forward to this show, but we caught it a few times during the weekend and it was amazing! I loved the music and build up of the processions coming towards the intersection, the performance was great both by the drummers and the dancers, the lightening and sound were top notch, and it was just VERY enjoyable. I was quite pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the show and have watched the videos I took of it several times to relive it. The sound quality on my camera SUCKS so I'm not going to post them or anything.
  19. We were told on Sat that "We won't have any cards for a couple weeks" at the Twister shop. Not a manager or anything, so not sure sure what that's worth. Didn't seem to be any shortage of hoodies this weekend to me, but didn't really go through the sizes. There's a REALLY nice keychain for $8. And a pretty cool pin with a spinning wheel for $13. Both are all over the place, but particularly in Twister and the Universal Store. The hat looks great, but if you have a big fat mellon head like me, it's kinda shallow. For most people that's not a problem, but if you have a huge noggin like me, you'll know what I'm talking about. Still, it was so awesome I had to buy one...but a friend didn't get one for that exact reason. The hats were also being sold OUTSIDE of Universal....in a kiosk by the tree with the "donut" around it in City Walk right after it branches off to head to Islands or Universal. I think I read somewhere that it was one of the limited items not sold outside the park, so just wanted to throw this out there. EDIT: Should also add that we saw the "Girlie Tee" that some thought was already gone. They had a bunch at the Universal store. Didn't check sizes or anything, but that was the ONLY store we saw them in.

  21. After reading a few of the reviews marked non-spoiler, I figured I'd ask if anybody has a shift schedule they could share. I'm going next Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun and want to make sure I can catch each shift at least a couple times each for the "full experience". I know there are a bunch of shift changes per night, but not sure if there's a quick and easy "cheat sheet" someone has as a good guideline for shift times. I searched for CAST SHIFT and didn't get any results looking like they had this info, so I apologize if it's posted elsewhere. Thanks.
  22. Dark Horse Comics has created an exclusive digital comic to serve as a prequel to the upcoming thriller remake "The Thing" opening October 14th. Starting this week, the comic will be released in three eight-page installments on September 21, September 28 and October 5 and is available FREE online at DigitalDarkHorse.com and via the free Dark Horse Comics mobile app. http://digital.darkhorse.com/blog/2011/thing-returns-dark-horse-comics-free-digitally-now/
  23. They also said the Poe house was originally planned for HHN18 (I think) but they couldn't pull it off back then...and they're saying the technological advances with the 3D house and 3D building Projections are AMAZING and stuff they couldn't pull off before. I think he just knows something they WANT to do now, but are unable to and he's just looking forward for when they do implement it. That's very exiting and re-assuring in my book.
  24. Not sure if you really wanted this question answered, but I'll bite and answer it anyway. It's a gambling term to say that a casino/bookie/slot machine/etc has a built in advantage and, over time, will ALWAYS finish ahead of the player. They are the proverbial "House". Yes, you could win $5,000 on a $0.25 slot machine in one pull, but it's still most likely a 95 - 99% payout machine meaning that in the long run, the machine will always make a 1 - 5% profit. Think of something as simple as a roulette board. Betting RED or BLACK is a 50/50 bet, right? Betting ODD or EVEN is a 50/50 bet, right? Betting a row of numbers is 12-to-1 bet, right? WRONG. You forget about the two green numbers, 0 and 00. They seem like fun bonus numbers, but over hundreds, if not thousands of spins a day, they help the house win money. There's a reason casino's make money (so long as they don't piss it all away on shows and other stupid stuff that does't generate revenue). There's a reason why some slot machines are mandated by law to post the payouts on the machines. In NYS "Raceinos", gaming establishments at horse tracks that pay out in vouchers or on cards bypassing the anti-gambling laws of non-native american owned properties in NY State, all electronic games (table games aren't permitted) must state the payout percentage....and it's NEVER 100% or better. They have a special and always busy section of 99% slots which means that they have your best change of winning money. Little payouts...but if you think you can win big, just know that the one $5,000 winner means that a TON of other players only gambling $100 or so at a pop have to lose to get to that 99% number. Look at any of the establishments bottom lines (just the gambling floor), and you will see that they, the House, ALWAYS win. ----------------------------------------- EDIT - so how does this play into the event? Lady Luck is the proverbial "house". When you gamble by entering the event, she is the one controlling the odds...she is the house...and in the long run, she will always win. And like I outlined in the Roulette Wheel/Board example, you might think she doesn't have an advantage...but she really does. You might beat her in the short term, but in the end, she'll ALWAYS beat you because the odds are in her favor and she has all the time in the world to wait for your luck to run out.
