  1. That's a big Ass-U-Mption on my part, so be wary of supporting my theories at the risk of making an ASS out of U
  2. JWFearman posted 3 new DTF shots from what looks to be the Silent Hill or Dead End queue in the Construction Pictures section. I don't know the park inside and out so I could very easily be wrong, but looks like a house MIGHT have stuff that extends out into the queue area. If they had Smoke/Ash Land from Silent Hill in the line, that would be amazing. We've heard that TWD facade is huge and amazing...maybe the lack of an 8th house has led to some extra dollars to extend the houses into the lines in some fashion. That would make me sooooo happy! EDIT: Of course, it could just be more of the raised cemetary....but that would make me very happy as well.
  3. Damn, was hoping they'd have a TWD theme or something different. Basically looks the same as any other year with the number changed to 22. I know that's not true, each is different, but just saying that it's basically the same as always.
  4. Really? I thought they were green...but I am a bit color blind especially with green, gray and brown. They're bright green in the pics, but that's with the light on. When it's dark and just slightly lit, I'd imagine they will match up about perfect.
  5. If you have a ticket for th Themepark for the day, plus a HHN ticket, you can go to one of the holding pens. There is no charge for this provided you have both tickets already. The Stay and Scream is if you have a themepark ticket for the day, you can "upgrade" and a ticket for HHN that night. The prices are probably on the website, but it's usually like $20 for a Wed or Thur, then like $30 for Fri, and $40 for Sat. Something like that. EDIT: YIKES....I haven't upgraded my ticket for like 8 years adn you saying $20 had me think that was still the cost. The Stay and Scream upgrade prices are: Sun - Thur $37 Fri $52 Sat $67
  6. Walkers - #1 IF they're outside of TWD, if not, move them down a few notches Traditionals - Very intrigued by this one Prisoners - Chicks with Chainsaws...this should probably be number 1 The Iniquitus - No clue what to expect Beasts - If there are some kick ass costumes, I could see this moving way up Warriors - No real feelings on this one Vampires - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 1 - 3 I'm really looking forward to. #4 has me interested. 5 - 7 just sound like business as usual with different costumes.
  7. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/features_orlando/2012/09/universal-studios-first-peek-at-walking-dead-house-for-halloween-horror-nights.html Hmmmmm, could that be why the Walkers/Zombies have been removed? They aren't a roaming horde, but rather hang out around the exit of TWD???
  8. Yes the trick was Brian Bushwood. Then he did it the following year. Then, when he had the ALL NEW might (?) and malice shows, he did it again for both.... I think that's where most of the dislike for BB comes from. I did it the first year and thought it was OK but DID enjoy the cell phone gag (can't even call it a trick). Then did it again with a sense of Deja Vu. Then did BOTH shows when he came back since he (personally through YouTube and stuff) swore it was all new. We actually walked out, which I'd NEVER do to insult any performer...but I had seen the other show earlier and was so disappointed that he was doing the same trick, again, in both shows, when it was promised to be all new.
  9. Another point/gripe...I WISH HoS hadn't done zombies in the entire park last year. If HHN did the full park cemetery with the "former residents" roaming the park, I think that would have been amazing. I'd be in the minority with it being redundant (though they could have had rotting zombies, still in dresses/tuxes zombies, zombies who found chainsaws, zombies who...ummmm...found stilts?) and stuff, but I think that a coherent theme would go a long way. While they couldn't have TWD Zombies, they could have still had hordes, solo shamblers (between "zones"), prostetic zombies where they were sliders with both legs in one pant leg and then a fake stump, etc. Maybe a "zone" that had fake dirt/grass and tombstones with scaractors who could come out (an area built up on a ramp or something...where there would be an area for them to hide - this is a pipe dream, so why not?). Maybe in a future year they could have a unified park/zone combo....like hell on earth or something...and then have the houses being "fights" between the forces of good versus the forces of evil that have over run the park. I think, ultimately, something like that would be the best and most encompassing event that would really suck you in. PS - it's not lost on me that the revelation that seems to be disappointing people the most seems to have me fired up. I don't get it either....and I'm not trying to be a troll or anything, the recent developments really have me fired up and thinking of stuff. --------------------------------------------------------- FB update I just saw: Universal's Halloween Horror Nights - Orlando (OFFICIAL) HHN fans, check this out: for his excitement and passion to HHN, super fan Joey James will be attending an exclusive preview of The Walking Dead house for HHN22. Joey will get to walk through the house with Greg Nicotero, Co-Executive Producer & Special Effects Make-Up Artist for AMC’s The Walking Dead, as well as speak to the creators of HHN22 about this year’s event. Look out for updates starting tomorrow evening, as Joey gets the inside scoop on this year’s event.
  10. I love how it went from everybody screaming the sky was falling and we were getting like 4 houses and no scarezones (OK, that's an exaggeration) to everybody being so happy when they announced the houses, back to the gloom and doom from a pre-release map. Having said that, I'm actually quite excited for this year. The 2007 "the entire park is a scare zone" was a let down, but being the sucker than I am, I'm thinking they might pull it off this year. Having no Icon or Theme for the houses doesn't bother me...but it appears we're getting a THEME for the zones (perhaps even a late icon or icons if they play up a leader for the zones). Others have said the Cemetary props all over are getting redundant, but I like it. If the props are as good as the ones in the pics so far, and they continue to add to them, and then have the wheeled out ones and make the entire park a resurrected cemetery I think that would be amazing. Especially if they have props and fog in places that there are no scareactors, that would be an awesome red herring and let your guard down for the next area. I've always been one of the few who enjoyed just walking around the zones more than the houses (OK, houses kick ass...but you spend about 30min a night inside them where you probably spend about 2 hours in the Scarezones...I think that's my subconscious reason for that claim). Trying to tie IPs and various proprietary houses together with an overarching theme doesn't seem to work for me...but to tie together the other 90% of the park with a singular theme excites me. Of course, I was singing the praises of 2007 (I know, the IPs were to blame) so I might be the first one in line to bitch about the zones in the event that they suck....but still holding out hope we have a unified park and scarezone theme that blows me away
  11. 1. Silent Hill - Loved the games and movie. 2. House of Horror - Just sounds amazing. Not a huge fan of the old horror movies, but black and white with strobes sounds great. 3. Penn & Teller - I always LOVE the 3D House...so picking this over Alice Cooper. Usually love the Humor house as well. Think it's an odd idea, but think it will make me very happy. Could end up being House of the Year for me, or my least favorite. Not sure what to expect with this one. 4. Gothic - Sounds really cool and original. 5. The Walking Dead - This was my most enticipated until realizing that the show didn't really have any SCARES that would work in a house. The scares were all about the main characters being in peril...that won't work in a house. Think it's just going to be recognizable set pieces with generic zombies jumping out of boo holes. REALLY hope this is on the UMTH Tour. To see professionally reproduced sets from the show on the tour would be amazing. Think many, including myself, got their hopes sky high for this...but after re-watching the series, starting to see that I don't know how it will transfer from the screen to a house. 6. Dead End - Don't know much about it. 7. Alice Cooper - Have zero interest in this, but it might be awesome if the music is really loud and disorienting and the 3D affects are cool. Also, Dead Silence did nothing for me before hand (dolls, really?) but was one of my favorite houses so I wouldn't be shocked at all if this jumped to the top of my list if it surprises me and uses the 3D really well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Two Week Later Update: The Walking Dead - the BTS photos and revelation of the car outside has moved this waaaaaaay up my list Silent Hill - holding steady House of Horrors - holding steady Penn & Teller - holding steady Dead End - Pleasantly surprised with recent developments Gothic - the costumes they've leaked are disappointing Alice Cooper - OK, so I wrongly thought this was 3D as well. Over all, including all the scare zones and shows, this is at the very bottom of my list tied with the 20penny circus.
  12. Watching the video it looked vaugly familiar for some reason...then with your screen capture, it clicked. Mostly because of the eye, it reminds me of Gary Oldman's character in Hannibal!
  13. Thank you for booking the 1:30PM Unmasking the Horror Tour. Below is the information on record for your tour: Tour Date: Sunday, October 7, 2012 Name of Party: XXXXXXXX Number in Party: 7 Me plus 6 for the 1:30 10/7 UMTH tour
  14. WTF? http://www.amazon.com/UNIVERSAL-ORLANDO-HALLOWEEN-HORROR-ebook/dp/B004KSPYNG That was just recommended to me on Amazon (have purchased a few eBooks). Ha ha ha
  15. Dubstep eh? I'm pushing 40, so I'm going to sound like an old fart, but I STILL have no clue what it means. I assumed it was stuff like Underworld and The Chemical Bros...the kind of electronica I listened to when I used to have to walk 4 miles to school in 2 feet of snow up hill both ways. OK, enough crazy old guy ranting.... Regardless of what it is, I think ANY kind of music house would be pretty cool if they could pull it off correctly. LOUD music in a confined space can be as disorienting and scary as anything else. Of course, it would have to be really focused sound so as to not damage the ears of the scaractors in there for extended amounts of time. But to have any kind of LOUD music, with a pulsing bass beat that you an feel in your chest would be a pretty powerful stimulus and make it difficult for your other senses leading to you being more susceptible to scares. Also, if you couldn't hear the people scream/yell/laugh up ahead tipping off a good scare coming up, I think it would make your scares be a bit more startling and after getting caught once, have you on edge throughout the rest of the house, My first year was when they had the Disentorium house...and that truly screwed me up and at points, I both got lost...and had to grab onto a friend's shirt and close my eyes to get through there. As messed up as it was, we did the house like 6 times in 2 nights. It was amazing and I haven't been through anything since that had nearly the affect...Dead Exposure had some disorienting strobes and The InBetween the first couple nights before the "String Room" floor got all scuffed up and you couldn't see the whole depth trick came close...but I think a crazy LOUD house, while not sounding like anything special on paper, would be pretty damn cool...especially if it was Rave type thing with crazy lighting to boot.
  16. Here's a half-assed comment that I don't really believe in.... But Native American came up about 50 times on the last few pages...and there were hints of a possible Poltergeist-themed house. The Poltergeist house was built on Ancient Indian Burial Grounds (in the pre-PC Native American era). Like I said, half-assed since I think the comments are all about Scarezones...and personally, while Poltergeist is one of my favorite movies ever (and FREAKED me out as a child) it would basically have to be a house devoid of scareactors with just paranormal stuff happening. Other than the end of the movie, nothing scary happened that could be recreated by a scareactor. Yes, you could have the creepy guy with the black hat, "meat face", a crazy "gypsie little person" and a freaky little blond wigged scareactor watching TV...I just think it would be a letdown myself. Kinda odd since I love the movie so much, but it's one I'd rather not see as I feel I'd be disappointed. Maybe some kids sliding across a floor (again, having children scareactors doesn't work...and you can only doll up adults so much to look like 10-year olds) and some tennis balls coming out of a TV. Unless you're a big fan like me, it would seem stupid and confusing...and if you are a big fan like me, it would be disappointing.
  17. Putting my dumb hat on and thinking of the statement "7 new haunted houses and 8 all new scarezones" or "7 new houses and 8 all new roaming zones" sound exactly the same. Saying "7 new haunted houses and for the first time ever, 4 all new scare zones, and 4 roaming hordes that move throughout the park, truely meaning no place is safe" sounds exciting, different, and something I'd want to pluck my $87 dollars down for (again, have my stupid hat on so I'm paying full price for a ticket). I'm in marketing and giving people what they expect is kinda good. But giving them something NEW and DIFFERENT in addtion to some of what they expect is usually golden and increases sales. And I, being naive, was sooooooo excited the year they said "the whole park is a scare zone" and that was horribly underwhelming...but it sure got me excited and were I to live locally in Florida and had never gone before, hearing that the ENTIRE park was going to be full of a thousand (in my stupid hat mind) scareactors following me into bathrooms and coming into giftshops and stuff, I'd surely have bought up a ticket ASAP.
  18. Of course, if you have a spare $70 laying around, this is the way to go http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Dead-Complete-Limited-Blu-ray/dp/B007MS5B6Q The first season's Limited Edition came with a mask and it wasn't worth anywhere near the $100MSRP. But the first season does have a Special Edition 3 Blu-Ray set that can be found online for about $30 and is worth every penny (the regular edition can be found on sale for $20 from time to time) http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Walking-Dead-The-Complete-First-Season-Blu-ray/26798/#Review The Special Edition and regular editions are available on DVD as well, but I don't think they made the Limited Editions for them (I could be wrong)
  19. Our Favorite Dr is at it again.....with a special guest this time
  20. To paraphrase Alanis Morrisette, "Isn't it Ironic? Don'tcha Think?" I KNOW I'm not the first to make this post, so consider this this me "seconding" that previous post (too lazy to look all the previous posts to quote it). Last year we were all POSITIVE there would at least be a Casino house last year with the whole Lady Luck theme...and now this year, thanks to Penn & Teller of all people, we are finally getting a Casino. Anybody want to place any odds on the (un)likely chance we'll see a Lady Luck cameo in the house? EDIT: Fixing some of my stupid typos
  21. Watching the movie, they have the insane (CGI) fog that you can't see anything through...used mostly as a transition or greenscreened in to save money. Was thinking of something like that....where they had 3 fog machines stacked on top of each other or something...and maybe a "canopy" to keep the fog from escaping (yes, that would contradict the easy to set up part, but something to ensure the fog was really thick), but had high powered lights shining directly onto to the fog so you literally couldn't see anything. It would be like walking through a wall of cotton balls. Curbs would be a tripping hazard, scaractors chasing people could lead to falls, etc. It basically should have sign saying "submit lawsuits here". Just wishful thinking...but watching the blonde chick spin around in the fog whiteout was just a powerful image...one that would really terrorize someone such as myself who is more than a little clusterphobic
  22. THANKS, that makes perfect sense and I couldn't figure out why the sign was like that...and I was assuming the barrels were just stuff for the house and not part of the street. But, if it's some post-apocoalypic Vegas or something it would make perfect sense.
  23. I'm going blind in my old age and the list of houses from way back when that everybody hinted at are 100% true so far, so I'm not doubting anything. Just curious, what exactly is in this photo? I see the "red star thingie" that I'm assuming is part of the rumoured Welcome to Las Vegas sign...but I keep reading comments, here and elsewhere about it looking "All Vegas-ie and like the Strip" and am having trouble wrapping my head around what is in the photo.
  24. I dug out my copy of the (first) silent hill movie last night for the hell of it and stuck it in the old DVD player. First off, with Universal being a MOVIE company and the second movie coming out, I would think it would play to that (much more than the video games and first movie). But that aside, I really think they need to have a Scare Zone....especially in the place(s) that they can't put any props. I would love to see ash falling, but don't know about that unless they did some bubble type stuff. I know they can do it in the houses, but just don't see it in the streets. If they had a handful of nurses doing the "strike a pose" thing and then some roaming guys to scare the hell out of you when you were checking them out, that would be awsome. They wouldn't need any props for that. Of course, the building projections could be used (I quite liked them last year...but sounds like I'm in the minority about that). But then they should have some major fog machines with strong roof mounted lights shining down on them for the "whiteout affect". For liability reasons, they'd have to be in the middle of the street and a "no go" zone for the scareactors, but it would be pretty cool "entrance" and "exit" for the scare zone itself. Also, it would be perfect for the "pictures vs no pictures" debate. Have the group of nurses gladly pose for pictures...bait if you will...for Pyramid Head and other Scaractors to come scare the hell out of you....or even photobomb your prictures. I had that happen once taking a picture and it was great! I'm not getting into the "IP Scarezone possible?" debate...and maybe this is something better suited for the WISHFUL THINKING thread, but I'm stuck working on Sun and waiting for some work to come back to me so just throwing out some thoughts.
  25. They Live???? That would be an awesome house. GIve you sunglasses before you go in, have skull faced people, and Rowdie Roddy Piper trying to kick your ass for a full 10min
