  1. The 2009 classic monster houses looked great, judging by the walkthroughs Roddy did of them! A healthy balance is needed. House-wise, I do like one, maybe two lighter-hearted houses, and the rest to be straight-up scary. In terms of IPs right now though, beggars can't be choosers.
  2. Agree completely. It was a major part of why I felt this year had a wee bit too much "comedy."
  3. Should be, yep. They're gonna do whatever they can to keep a good relationship with Netflix.
  4. Seriously, I almost feel like we should have a sticky of the properties they can't do thanks to Bugs and Mickey.
  5. Gonna bump this thread because offseason. Off the top of my head, from my years of attendance: -The not-mirror in CGY. -The moving platform sewer guy in DE2. -The wind and rain in Poltergeist and Ghost Town 2. -As JDW said, pretty much everything in IT. -Bungees! Before Fallen I had never experienced the lean-off-the-plank scare, blew me away. Witch flying in ST4 was fantastic.
  6. Stranger Things 2 at the end of March/beginning of April.
  7. Honestly, ST2 should make for a more traditional (somewhat more scary) house than ST1.
  8. Doesn't seem like this guy has any credible info, but I'd be more than happy with this IP lineup.
  9. I would happily take a SotL house. At first I thought it would be impossible to market (trailer) just because they likely couldn't show Anthony Hopkins' face (like in the marketing for The Shining), but then I thought of the trailer for DE2 this year, and showing newspaper clippings/reports and bodies of Buffalo Bill's victims could work.
  10. Given how dramatically the IP pool has dried in the last year, they will milk the cows they have remaining for all they’re worth. I completely expect the Chuckster to reappear in the near future.
  11. TCM (26) is mine--concept completely lacking any originality/creativity, yet just a completely terrifying and menacing experience. What can I say, chainsaws are my weak spot.
  12. I think I remember someone (Legacy?) saying that they’re never doing another music house, only reason they did AC was because Hollywood did it. That said, I place very high value on a house’s soundtrack. I think of the awesome southern rock soundtrack Creatures! had.
  13. I think the very first scareactors in the house were infected treatment center workers, indicating that the virus had spread to the quarantined area and being the reason we leave. And that’s interesting to think about. Makes me imagine that the last zombie that came at you from the curtains was her husband.
  14. Seems like 2005 had a few similarities with Heavy Metal (ESPECIALLY the Den story). The stories being told from a regular house, a medieval village of sacrifices, a mine carrying savage creatures, and a very rough bar.
  15. Like I said, everyone was probably in the "general public" at one point. I remember the reaction to '00s events from people who had been going since the '90s were...often mixed. At least some of today's "general public" will become tomorrow's hardcore fans, whining about the next "general public" ruining the event.
  16. If you want to see the rooms he came up with, go to page 38 of the HHN 28 discussion thread on IU (2/10/18).
  17. Add Legacy to the Bloodengutz one. The reality TV stuff was his idea, I came up with the story and framing.
  18. Probably SS 24 (A or B), Fifth Avenue/Delancey Street/South Street (assuming scare-zone), and Sprung tent 2 (lends itself to a queue video much better than tent 1)--respectively.
  19. This would be a great idea for 30, assuming Jack is the head honcho. Anyways, to be updated: Vampyr: Inquisition (I sort of got this idea from a post back in 2011-12, but I'm expanding on it)--The Spanish Inquisition was actually a breed of bloodthirsty vampires looking for a way to find "new blood." You might think the presence of crucifixes would be lethal to them, but it turns out that is just a myth perpetuated by vampires! (Would be ideal for 30--would contain scenes from past similar houses like the candle and balcony scenes from Gothic, the "squeeze-in-art" from Dracula: Legacy of Blood, and (wishful thinking) the bedroom scene from the original Castle Vampyr.) Nightingales: Blood Splattered Banner (would probably work best as a scarezone in NY)--During the War of 1812, the warring American and British troops were blissfully unaware of a sinister third party: the carnivorous, shapeshifting Nightingales, preying upon the weak in every war throughout history. As the Battle of Fort McHenry rages on, you'll find the bombs bursting in air to be the least of your worries as you have no idea who is fighting with you or who is hunting for you. So, I really liked Legacy's idea of a Reality TV Bloodengutz sequel, but I'm making an explanation as to WHY the segments are this way--remember, the segments in teh first house were already horror movies, so WHY would these TV shows be horror? Plus remember, reality TV is very much a 21st century thing, the first one took place in the '70s. So I took that idea and added some inspiration from the Supernatural episode "Changing Channels": Larry Kurtzberg had been in jail for over 30 years, but finally passed away recently. But upon his death, he has now become a demi-god of sorts and has returned to take bloody vengeance on WKNB. He is now turning the still operating TV station building into a series of horrific reality television shows, with unlucky WKNB employees as the stars!
  20. I never got to experience AE (I was eight when it closed, so it would've traumatized me for life if I had), but I've become absolutely enthralled by it ever since I found a POV of it a few months ago. What a wonderful attraction that clearly was. I would love for EITHER: Since it was originally going to be an Alien attraction, for Disney to make just that happen at DHS now that they own the rights to it. Unfortunately, I just see them sitting on the rights to it. OR: For Universal to do a Jurassic Park AE-style show, with a raptor playing the role of the creature. I maintain that Dinosaur still provides a horror influence at Disney (though it would admittedly be better if they changed the name back--does anybody actually remember that damn movie?--and put in the meteor at the end).
  21. That might actually get me to go to MNSSHP lol. This is a really, REALLY entertaining discussion to get us through the dead period (which generally ends in April).
  22. I’d be interested to hear your full review of last year, as always. I don't like the character of Chucky either, but I thought they did a fantastic job with that zone--perfectly designed for parade space. Very inventive costumes and floats. I would have put Killer Klowns all the way down Fifth Avenue and scrapped Vamp '85 altogether. I, too, would've loved to drop HDD from the event entirely.
