    • it seems like a lot of the marketing will be focused on Jack and the IPs so I don't think Terra Queen will be the headliner of the event but given her due in some form of way just hope they just don't throw her in the Anniversary scarezone without a reason.

Well, wouldn't change much from her first appearance--she wasn't even on the marketing in her own year! Completely agree with the last part of your statement; it's why I'm so against another anniversary house.

  2. Updated list:

    Houses

    -Stranger Things

    -Ghostbusters: Afterlife

-5 other IPs, none of them scary

-Anniversary house that just retreads Monsters and Mayhem/throws in a whole bunch of past originals, some of which would be much better served with sequels instead

-Lunatic’s Playground 4-D: You Still Won’t Stand A Chance (see what I did there?)

-Scarecrow: The Repeat (again, see what I did there?)

    -Some comedy original

Billie Eilish could be the higher ups trying to cash in on her success.

I’m still skeptical that Universal get IT but I could see Creepshow and Conjuring possibly coming this year.

Terra Queen could get a house and also maybe featured in the anniversary scarezone too.

Bill & Ted I don’t see returning because Universal had said farewell to the duo, I don’t think they really would say farewell them and then try to throw 27’s show under the rug and bring em back out of nowhere, if they brought them back, then 27’s show was made for nothing, they gave that show so much meaning and promotion. I don’t think they want to do that. I’d love to see Bill & Ted as much as the next person but they shot themselves in the foot for waiting too long to end the show. With the new movie coming out, I don’t think it’s something they’ll bring back for but I’m not doubting they’ll promote the film.

I'm skeptical on Conjuring--from a marketing standpoint, the two most recognizable characters from the franchise are from the spinoffs. And rumor is that that they're just focusing on the main movies. Would marketing feel that it would be worthwhile without those two characters, especially in terms of selling merch? The most profitable thing at the event might be a lagoon show--how weird would that be?!

Once again, I wish they had waited to do Monsters this year. (I'm assuming that IT doesn't happen. IDK how much power King has over it getting licensed out. If IT does then consider everything I just wrote null and void lol.)

So from what I've read on here...

    • Billie Eilish lagoon show (why...)
    • Three IP's: Conjuring, IT, Creepshow
    • Everything else is original
    • Terra Queen won't be Icon, but will be getting a house and zone
    • Bill & Ted MAYBE returning

Please oh please oh please let this happen (even with Eilish this sounds too good to be true).

How about this? Give the children and the moneygrubbers what they want. Give her a stupid lagoon show and maybe a zone or a house, but then make EVERY OTHER house and sz original, icon or mashup of the two or sequel to an original(minus IT and Conjuring).

Then the kids can all go watch this Billie Eilish BS and leave the rest of the event to the fans of the actual event.

Edit: This is not an attack on her personally, as I know she's a fan of the event and maybe a lovely person, but her music is just as unoriginal as the next pop princess, imo(get off my lawn).

I would happily take this. Marketing would be happy, newcomers would be happy, and fans would be happy. Everyone wins. :D

What's funny is how much is sorta written about this year

Some fans want the Terra Queen and HHN 15 to be acknowledged again and take over Universal apart of this anniversary year

She isn't "taking over Universal," that's for sure. But I see no reason they can't give us a house-zone combo, the zone being Iron Bone Gorge (in NY this time).

I actually did hear this over the weekend.  Wanna hear part 2 of the rumor?

HHN Hollywood will be getting a Billie Eilish HOUSE.

Rumor continues that Orlando design team resisted an Orlando house, and was told to incorporate her in some way.  Hence, the lagoon show.

    Yeah, Legacy said as much.

Frankly, I'm thrilled GOT never made it.  There is so much better out there for house purposes.

Did I miss something?  What's the issue with the lagoon show?  Is it not going to be a different version of Mayhem each year?

Billie Eilish is supposedly getting her very own lagoon show.

Been a long time “lurker” on these forums.  This place is one of best sources for info for HHN.

This is the first year that I can remember that I can’t even have an educated guess as to what houses are going to be here this year.
Maybe 30 year anniversary house... And that’s about it... Maybe Hellraiser? I can’t even say that those are educated guesses.

I know what I would like to see, but I don’t believe in getting my hopes up. (*Fingers crossed* Horror made here doesn’t return)

I am also afraid that people “in the know” will be tight lipped after what happened last year (losing GoT... which I was super fine with)     So I have a strong feeling information won’t be as easily available as previous years.
What do you all think? Am I being to negative or realistic.

I would agree, but it's kinda hard to say because when thinking about spec the last couple years I'm remembering ~March-April. And it's January. So the event could be quite clear by April. But I wouldn't be surprised if you're correct--I had a feeling this year could be hard to figure out when they announced ST was both 2 and 3.

I do not want a 30 year anniversary house, unless it's purely focused on the icons. I would much rather see just a few houses get fully fleshed out sequels than a whole bunch of houses thrown together in one anniversary house without any new story/elements. Why 25 didn't look very appealing to me.

I'm going through the archives of past events, collecting writing materials, elevations and plans etc. of past events and I'm wondering if there will continue to be a pattern as seen from 9 to 10, 19 to 20 and 29 now to 30 for the 10 year anniversaries.

    1. It seems that there is a heavy push of IP the year prior to an anniversary year and then more originals for year 10 and 20. This lends to the opinion that this year may be weak from an (current) IP stand point and the rumor of no ST this year, so it's a perfect time to go in hard on the original content.

    Examples

HHN 9 - The Mummy, Doomsday, Creature Features 3D, Psycho - 4/5 were IP related houses and MotB as the SZ

HHN 10 - Classic Monsters, Dark Torment, Fearhouse, Anxiety in 3D, Total Chaos (All were original/Universal classics) for the SZ's they had Clown Attack, Apocalypse Island, The Gauntlet, Midway of Dr. Morose

HHN 19 - The Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein, Leave it to Cleaver, SAW, Chucky, The Spawning (C.H.U.D.), Silver Screams and for the SZ's they had Containment, Lights Camera Hacktion, Cirque Du Freak, Horrorwood Die-In, Apocalypse, War of the Living Dead and Shadows from the Past (at the end of the event).

HHN 20 - Everything was original or anniversary

HHN 29 - We went in pretty heavy on big IP last year with RZ, Zombieland, ST, Ghostbusters, etc.

It's interesting how they seem to go all in on IP the year before a 10 year anniversary. It's possible that each 10 year anniversary label is enough to sell tickets and HHN can use this time to further the roots of their lore.

    2. There will most likely be an anniversary house (obviously).

    3. There will most likely be an icon or a celebration of multiple icons.

    4. Keep in mind, these anniversaries are coming:

    30th: Tremors, Gremlins 2, The Exorcist 3

    40th: Friday the 13th

    60th: Psycho

    5. With Birds of Prey coming out, do you think Chance will make an appearance to play off of the Harley Quinn similarities?

I'm sure more common threads will appear when others dig deeper.

Even 25 was a little more original slanted than 24. It makes sense that they would want to get IPs out of the way and save their best original concepts for the next year.

Hello! Life has been getting in the way. I’m still around. Will try to be more active. No promises. Life and such, but Christmas is over so work should be easier now.

I played the Graveyard Games FB game. It worked, even though I couldn’t attend. Interesting tidbits of info. I can link some of it to the Terra Queen. Similarities to her story. There are two Twitter accts that are still active for Sid and Nancy. Probably just scareactors or fans having fun, but I find it interesting.

Speaking of interesting, how many here realize the significance of choosing the names Sid and Nancy for the characters?

The REAL reason they never made another album. :D

Oh dear God...  Yeah, there was a crapload of discussion on this back in 2010.  There was even more back in 2008....but those were the days of HHN Vault.

A trademark search shows that Bobbie Weiner still holds an active trademark (she just re-filed) but the purposes are related to drinks (ale, wine, spirits, etc), make-up and jewelry.  There was (and may still be) a huge line of prosthetics and makeup under the name Bloody Mary.  I still have a 20 year old bottle of Bloody Mary stage blood.  I don't have a clue as to why I still have that...

One would think that when used for other purposes the name can be used - but way back in the day (2008), she filed a TM violation against Universal even though her TMs were for makeup back then.  Word was that there was no license agreement.   One could argue that BM drinks and jewelry were sold.  I think it was the first year that they had the jello shot "blood bags" and of course there were HHN keychains and pins with the BM image, but not the words "Bloody Mary".  The argument was that HHN was not marketing the name itself; it was a name assigned to a character at the event, based on a public domain legend - HHN created her image; there was no generally accepted representation of BM prior to that.  Then came HHN 2010 and no BM appearance in the icon zone.  Heck, no mention of her at all by Universal - presumably because Universal didn't want to pay to use her.

Really, aside from the commercial and early marketing materials, there was really no mention of the name Bloody Mary at the 2008 event.  The subsequent promos and marketing materials really revolved around the catchphrase "Say my name!" in connection with a mirror.  People's minds connected the dots pretty well.

Shortly after the 2008 event, Bobbi Weiner's website was updated to mention that HHN and other haunts licensed the name (which resulted in a head injuries on the forums due to excessive eye rolling).

Then in 2015, she launched a press release stating that she is formally licensing the name to haunts.  So did that mean that she finally had the legal backing to do so?  Because that was the first press release following the whole fiasco.

So what does this all mean for HHN 30?  Universal no doubt can bring BM back.....for a price.  At this point, BM ultimately played a pretty minor role in the much bigger (and I'd argue more interesting) Legendary Truth universe.  The Reflections of Fear house was not well received.  But Legendary Truth: Wyandot Estate house was a fan favorite.  If you could bring back BM for a licensing fee or the next chapter of Legendary Truth with no associated fee, I think the choice is clear as to what would be better for the fans of HHN and the bean counters of Universal.

For anyone who didn't get to experience HHN 18's use of Bloody Mary (and the last great slow-roll HHN website reveal....RIP), this is a wonderful telling of how she was woven in to each and every house.  Warning: it becomes name soup toward the middle, as the web becomes thick.  Upon listening to it, I had no idea how deeply interwoven the story was.

By the way, one of the most important characters in that year's story was installed in the park in 2008 and remains to this day.  See if you can spot it next time you're in the park.

Bob Shuster Universal Orlando Halloween Horror

Wyandot Estate was a fan favorite? I've heard differently.

I was thinking just last week - how could they represent all of Terra Cruentus in a single house.  This comes pretty damn close.  I like having the Storyteller being tortured - nice twist.

I was thinking about the Terror Mines - clearly it wouldn't make sense for us to have helmets for just one room, but what if that room had actors wearing the helmets being mutilated by the monsters who then go after us?  I mean, seeing Terror Mines from a third person perspective.  Kind of like how we saw the kids being attacked in Graveyard Games.

I'd also like to see the Gorewood Forest and blood being extracted to create iron.  Some stuff from Saws & Steam comes to mind.

My idea is pretty similar. Would be in SS25. This is because a zone similar to Iron Bone Gorge would be in NY.

    In order:

    Terra Throne

    Demon Cantina

    The Skool

    Cemetery Mines

    Body Collectors

    Blood Ruins

    Terror Mines

    Terra Throne

Roughly how the cycle works. You would exit through the same room you enter.

I am ready for another AHS house to be honest.
I think we might be getting more Ip then Originals next year.

I doubt that they would do 2 parks for hhn for 2 months.
Maybe if it was 5 weeks maybe and had midnight closures.
There isn't enough time to turn over the park and keep up the parks during hhn.

    Disney ain't budging folks.

As mentioned on the IU thread, they're running dry on IPs.

I'll second the suggestion to look up the story behind the event.  It was incredible.  This was when HHN took place in IOA, yet they used three of the nearby soundstages.  Everyone was coming off of the Lord of the Rings trilogy along with the second Hobbit movie released the year before, so as the site was coming to life, many (including me) were rolling our eyes saying it looked like they were trying to do a LOTR themed event.  It was anything but.  Between the look of Jurassic Park area and Lost Continent (before potter moved in), the park was ideal for what they did.  They even managed to make it seem like you weren't in Marvel Island (mostly).

HHN 30 must - MUST - have some reference to Terra Queen.  Even though they came up with this under Michael J Roddy (who preceded TJ Mariano who preceded Mike Aiello) the people currently running HHN are well aware of the prophecy and won't let the 30th go by without paying homage.  I have zero doubt about that.

Personally, I'd love it if they somehow were able to use Lost Continent area of IOA for HHN 30 - had it become Terra Curentus complete with a house, even though there was no house in that area for HHN 15.   But they do have the Sinbad theater at their disposal...   And since it's so near, imagine if they had Hagrid open during HHN.

    A guy can dream...

I'm as big a Potter fan as you'll come across (strongly prefer it to Star Wars) and I still miss Lost Continent.

(The Hobbit trilogy was still seven years away--I'd like to pretend it never happened though.)

Anyway, I'm envisioning Iron Bone Gorge in New York, and a house in SS25, that would basically go clockwise through the world map covering the cycle of the blade, ending with the Throne.

  17. I do think it would have served them well to save the appearance of the monster for the finale (and I wish the waterfall effect had worked), but once again the subject matter of Depths scares me very, very much. I squirm just thinking about the eel coming down from the ceiling. Short, narrow hallways with tight turns combined with the countdown created panic. And yeah, Helix crying was so chilling.
